Your baby's crown-to-rump length at this time is approximately 14.4 inches and the total length is approximately 21.5 inches. The average baby weighs a little more than 7 pounds now and is preparing for birth. You are probably as big as you are going to get and may be uncomfortable now. Most women gain between 25 and 35 pounds during their pregnancy. Your uterus is about 7-8 inches above your bellybutton now.

Although your baby continues to grow and develop inside of your uterus, there is not much room for him to move about. All of your baby's organ systems are now complete and the lungs were the last to fully mature.

If you are uncomfortable with your pregnancy at this time, you are not alone. Most women are ready to deliver their babies. It would be very unusual for you to not be uncomfortable at this time. Your uterus has grown a lot and now fills your entire pelvis and abdomen. Try not to ask your doctor to induce you, unless it is medically necessary. Your cervix is ripening in preparation for delivery and your bladder is under a lot of pressure. You may feel nervous about the upcoming labor. You will know when you are in labor because contractions will get worse when you move around and they will also get stronger and more frequent. Other signs of labor are the breaking of your water or a bloody show as the mucus that plugged your cervix becomes dislodged.

Most of the lanugo on your baby should be gone by now. Your baby still may have some on his shoulders and in the creases of his body. Your baby's toenails have reached the end of his toes. The umbilical cord is about a half inch thick and may be wrapped around him. The umbilical cord still supplies the baby with nutrients that he needs. After delivery, your baby's umbilical cord will be clamped and cut. After it is cut, he will be an independent human being and must perform all of his body functions on his own. Your baby will get antibodies from your body that give his immune system a boost.

Well ladies I did it! Chance Michal Kucharski was born feb 9th @ 1:32 pm weighing in at a whopping 9lbs 3 oz, 21 1/4 in in length. dr estimated him at 7 1/2 8 lbs so we were shocked to say the least the I gained 16lbs and had a 9lb baby! c-section went better than I could have ever imagined. I am already up walking around and feeling essentially no major pain just mild discomfort! Chance is doing amazing apgar's of 8 and then 9 and he is breastfeeding like a champ. He has had 4 wet diapers and 4 bowel movements already before he was 12 hours old. I am so inlove with him and my whole family right now. good luck ladies you really are so so so close to meeting your little one's. I wish you lots of labor dust and may your birth's be as enjoyable as mine was!

My beautiful baby Isabelle was born at 9.34 pm on the 9th Feb, weighing in at an impressive 8lb14.5, 6 days over due, born in the birthing pool at home, went from 4cm at half 8 to her being born an hour later! Didnt even have time to get the second midwife in! So lucky she is beautiful, im so happy!!!

BS if you go in to labour too ill cry big fat tears..i shouldnt have said id race you cause now you wil go in to labour and ill be all by myself. its a long wait... and iam not having any pressure or anything.. the odd twinge in my cervix but thats it.. i even managed to have sex last night.. doggie style to bring the baby out.. no such luck lol at least my dh has a big smile on his face! that makes one of us

Ethan Scott McLemore is finally HERE!! He was born Feb. 5th at 12:23pm weighing 7lbs 7.7 ozs and 19' long w/ a FULL head of beautiful Blonde hair. I came home today the 9th and if al goes the way it it's supposed to, Ethan will be home Wednesday afternoon! Birthstory and pics will be posted in the next day or so. I am still here... my titanium steel womb continues to be closer than a safe box :-( .... No contractions, no pains, no plug, nothing, nada... My doctor's appointment was postponed until next week!! due to the winter storm... awwghhh I was boomed today... trying to keep myself busy, but not easy since my home is spotless clean, I shoveled all the snow and I have done all the laundry... I am convinced that I will be the last PG lady standing!!!! :-D

Hey gals, just back from the hospital and wanted to pass on a few suggestions for things to pack: a very soft bath towel to dry off after your first post-delivery shower (at least at my hosp, the towels they provide are the cheap rough kind that did *not* feel tender or loving to my tired sore body); and a variety of small gifts or something bigger to be shared among the many many staff who will help you. I had 2 L&D nurses, 2 LCs, and 6 recovery nurses... and thought I'd prepared well by bringing two presents. Hubby ended up going out to buy two more large boxes of chocolates for the masses. Gifts aren't required of course, but everyone seemed to really appreciate the gesture. :) GL and baby dust to you all!

My dr appt tomorrow is canceled there's a snowstorm here! They moved it to thurs but had my nst today and my bp was borderline high again. So they want me to come back Monday if I haven't had the baby yet but I should find out thurs if they are going to induce or let me wait. Hopefully I get some answers!

Proud to announce Emery Lynne was born 2-9 at 9:32am. 8lbs 15oz 20 inches long. Very fast delivery that started with mild contractions (so there is still hope for everyone!). I'm not sure how my blood pressure is, I'll find out Thursday. With my first my blood pressure went up the day before I went into labor so maybe this is a good sign? Lol, yea right...

Hi ladies... had Riley Addison by c-section yesterday (2/8). I was scheduled to go in at noon for the surgery but my water very unexpectedly broke at 4:20am that morning. I guess she was coming yesterday no matter what! I was midsleep when it broke out of nowhere, no contractions, nothing. She is a teeny tiny 5 lbs 13 oz but is nursing well and is a strong girl. Congrats you all! I'm off for a few hours and everyone popped! I just got back from the dr and her stripped my membranes. He told me he was doing it while he was doing it! He didn't even ask! It wasn't bad but she didn't feel good afterward. I was having contractions while I walked in there now they are really kicking in. I hope this is it!

So I went walking this afternoon and thought I would take a different street over then from the one I usually take. So I get going down the road and get all the way to the end and....DEAD END!!!! I had to turn around and come all the way home. It was painful and I am not sure if it was contractions just alot of pressure. So I get home and all the pain goes away...BOO!!!!

Every woman doctor and baby see different. We can all have our personal opinion but your caregiver is the ultimate decision maker. I personally preferred my midwife over my ob treatment w my first!

Back from my beauty treatment. It was awesome. I forgot how nice it is to have pretty feet! It's been months! Or more like almost a year. I haven't done it while pregnant. Yes Lindysfirst and MM10- Right now induction is a lot more successful than earlier, but waiting has higher chances of working. Especially if they messed up her due date. If I hadn't have gotten so many early u/s's then I would've thought my son was due like 10 days ago! (from my 22 week u/s) I'd definitely be upset then. Hang in there IG44. He'll come soon :) If not then kick his butt out with a little Cervidil and pitocin lol.

Lindsey- That’s my feeling on all this. My Dr should know best. They went to school for this and had been around way more pregnancies then I ever will be around. I just hope they are right. My apt is in another hour. I remember I use to be so excited to go. Now I dread it. It’s the same news every time plus I get to stand on a scale and hear from my husband if I need to cut weight for an upcoming ufc fight. (it was funny only the first time!) and then pee in a cup. This routine has lost it flare.

According to my research as long as your cervix is dilating and you're effaced well (not starting with a high, hard cervix) then an induction shouldn't be any more 'dangerous' at 39 weeks than if you wait until 42 weeks when you may have to induce anyway. Like BS said, they can jack up your due date easily. I'm pretty sure my doc has been doing this OB thing for 20+ years so I'm going to trust that she wouldn't induce me if it wasn't safe at this point.

IG... About the induction thing, I agree with BS that you should wait until 41 weeks or so, but I did a little research on it and I don't think the c section rate is as bad as it sounds. Those statistics take into account all inductions, even elective inductions and ones done before the due date. Alot if these inductions are done when the baby's not ready to come yet and the cervix's not ready so it doesn't work. By 41-42 weeks though, your baby is ready and so the chances of an induction being sucessfull are way higher... What I was reading said about 26% end up in C section at 41 weeks, whereas doing nothing at that point eventually ends up in 18% c section, so it's a difference of only 8%. Sooo, try not to freak out too much, it's not quite as bad as it sounds.

i dont really know what to think. i have been obsessed with my birth ball for 2 months. its all i sit on. so i guess baby is just stubborn up there? ive also heard though that 2nd time pregnancies the baby doesnt drop until labor starts. so i guess ill just have to wait and see!
