Dates and numbers: There are 104 days until your due date on March 08, 2010.
You are 176 days pregnant.
You are 5.8 months pregnant.
You are in your 6th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: June 01, 2009 to August 30, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: August 31, 2009 to December 13, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: December 14, 2009 to March 08, 2010. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby's crown-to-rump length is about 8.8 inches. Weight has increased to around 1.5 pounds and fat is still being deposited at a high rate. Babies come in all shapes and sizes, so your baby could vary slightly from these `average` measurements. Your uterus has grown quite a bit bigger this week. The top of your uterus is between your bellybutton and your sternum. Your uterus is about the size of a soccer ball now!
If your baby is delivered at this time, it would have a good chance of surviving. It is best for your baby to remain inside of you for the remainder of the pregnancy, but great advances have been made in the care of a premature baby. Ventilators, monitors and medications all help premature babies develop and grow outside of the womb. If your baby were born this early, he would probably have to spend several months in the hospital and would be more susceptible to infections and other complications.
You can hear your baby's heartbeat with both a Doppler and a stethoscope at this time, and your partner may even be able to hear the heartbeat unaided if he puts his ear in the right position. Sex differentiation is being completed now. If you are expecting a baby boy, the testes start to descend into the scrotum. In baby girls, the vagina is hollowing out. Your baby is able to do more with their fingers now and can move his fingers to make a complete fist. As your baby becomes more dexterous, he will be able to touch and hold his feet. Babies also begin to prefer their left hand or right hand at this time. Because babies settle into routines of sleep and activity, you might begin to notice these patterns as well. Some women experience the most fetal movements while they are trying to rest.

Sadly no, my guests will ost likely not be helping. They happen to be single military guys that my husband works with that are to far from home to be able to go home for thanksgiving. So I let my husband invite a couple of guests that he liked that cant go home. And if everything goes as planned, there wont be much to clean up afterwards. (But as most people know, things don't realy go as planned). We still have seats open and plenty of food if anyone is interested!

babybysurprise- I've been wondering the same thing since I've been put on bed rest for the evenings. My braxton hicks have been getting worse after 4pm more than 4 an hr. I can't do much just lay there. Doc doesn't worry unless they don't go away when laying down. I still want to be checked.---------------------blackraven - sounds so nice. I bet your a good cook. I wish I could come! I hope your guests will do some helping too. Me and my hubby will be doing it alone. I didn't invite any friends cause we're on a tight budget and to much work for me. I'm on evening bed rest now. My hubby will be cooking this time. I'm only making a gluten free pumpkin pie. Have a good Thanksgiving.
BabybySuprise - 1.8 hours ago
so i was wondering, i 've had about 3 or 4 ob visits since i found out i was pregnant. And except for my first visit, i haven't been checked down there since. is everyone else the same? Do you guys get checked every time you go?? How does the doc know I'm not dilating or thinning out?? When do they start checking?

Hey ladies, well i had a sono this morning, baby is doing great still measuring a week ahead, they said he is 2lbs and a lil longer than 25 weeks. I'm closer to 27 weeks now. =) he was soo cute, sucking his thumb and rubbing his cheeks with both hands. I can't wait to hold them!!

We are having our own Thanksgiving this year. We have been married for over 2 years and the first year we celebrate with my husbands family and the second year i celebrated it with my family while my husband had to work. This year, we are going it alone. We are way to far away to make it back home and it will be nice to have our own. We have invited a few guests and I am doing all the work. That is the part I am dreading. That is alot of work for a pregnant woman and I have an 18 month old. I will be getting as much help possible from my husband, but certain things are being cooked the day before and he has to work then. Everything is from scratch. Even the cranberry sauce is made from fresh cranberries, and the pumpkin pie from a fresh pumpkin. But as soon as he gets off work and he has all thanksgiving day off, I am going to put him to work. In other words, i will get him to tidy up the house, watch our little girl, and he will play xbox and stay out of my way and come when he is called like a good little boy.

ckingland, you are right, it has been pretty quiet in here. I'm probably one of the few though who are not busy as I am on modified bed rest. But yes, looking forward to thanksgiving - and my husband being home for 5 days!

babybysurprise- The chemical residue in new clothes can cause a rash on your baby's delicate skin. So can dryer sheets, bleach or oxyclean. Use only non scented laundry detergent on baby clothes. We use unscented All small & mighty 3x for all our clothes. Washed together is cheaper.
babybysuprise - 2 days ago
Is it really necessary to wash all the baby clothes before putting them on the baby? I had heard of this b4 but my mom, grandma and hubby think i'm crazy and over reacting. What the reason behind washing the baby's clothes???

Wow there has been some big issue talks recently. Mama Bri - Although you have different parenting styles (and i think most people do in some way or another) it is really good that you are talking about what you want now before the child is born. good luck in coming to some decisions... On a personal note.. .i had my check up appointment yesterday and have some how put on 10lbs in 1 month. HOW THE HECK IS THIS POSSIBLE? The Dr. said that it may be water weight and to stay away from salt.. but still thats a bit scary!. The bub looks good and all is where it should be.. yay :)

My BH contractions seem to only happen in the evening. I try to get all my chores done early. Then I'm laying down on the couch for the rest of the evening. It's sucks cause their is still so much to do. Oh well, I just have to get used to letting the house go for now.

Akid- wow we are in the same boat hun! i find that my kids are much worse when dh is gone. i know it can be so frustrating and emotionally draining! I cant imagine being on bed rest at the same time. i find that if you stay firm and calm at the same time you get a better response. My kids go in time out when they start up (which i may add is a task in itself getting them to stay there!). If you find anything that works wonders please let Me know. My kids have had a great deal of change moving across country away from family and with the baby on the way so i am hoping its just a stage! Good luck!

mama Bri- me and my hubby disagree sometimes on discipline. But I'm like a mama bear protecting her cub and he does what I say go's. I won't let him be rough w/ our child. He does agree w/ me after he sees it's the best way to handle it. I grew up in a household where my mom let my step dad beat the crap out of me. I don't believe in spanking because of that. Mind over matter. Your in control not your kid. I come up w/ better solutions then my hubby, cause I'm the one watching nanny911 and supernanny on TV for tips. I do a lot of reading on the internet on how to deal w/ my son's age and what problems and solutions might happen. I believe in only time out's and standing firm and consistent. Talking it out and finding solutions. It works so far and my son is only 19 mths old. Please get him to take the birthing classes which teach you how to take care of a baby, parenting classes and CPR classes. Check your local Health Dept have free classes. I know that W.I.C. offer them.

akid, although my kids are 14 and 16, i do have 2 step kids that are 3 and 4... They tend to act out too. I guess kids have their days just like us adults do! also, i think they can sense change... they know a new baby is comin and may be acting out due to that... i would continue to use the normal discipline (whatever you normally use) and dont let them slack just because... Stay firm and they will get back on track. maybe even ask them why they are acting out and let them know its not acceptable behavior.

Hey I have a question for all the ladies who have kids already... My kids(age 2&3) have been so bad lately....I don't know what to do with them. Time outs and taking toys have not worked. My husband has been out of town this week and working a lot latley so I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not. I'm on bed rest and having a hard time dealing with them. I have notice that when people come over (My mothers group is bring me dinner everynight to help out God Bless them.)they are just jumping off the chairs (which is not allowed at all and they never do anyother times) they are just throwing toys again not allowed and never do anyother time. My oldest is being mean to people and just walked up to them and hits(shes a sweet girl that has never done this before) I hate when someone comes over I feel like a bad mother because I know my kids don't act like that anyother time. I don't know what to do??? Help!!!!

Hey ladies, supposedly this is my first day in week 25, had my ob appt today. Doc said that from my last sono my due date might be Feb 23!!! I have another sono on monday to confirm! Also my doc said that from the genetic tests they did last time it seem that future generations not the baby might have chromosone X 4ome sort of genetic disorder. Any one heard of this?? He said maybe my grand kids or great grandkids will need testin for thatm Kinda scary but at least my lil man is healthy.

Just got back from my doctors visit and u/s! Baby is so cute! He is now in breach position and was playing with his feet! Yummy they are so good! Lol! i am so happy! Got to see baby and they said everything looks great and he is healthy! Still measuring 2 weeks ahead but she said not to worry and they will just keep an eye on it!

Mama Bri- AS scarry as it sounds, time seems to change everything. My DH had the same stupid and ignorant attitude towards raising children when I was pregnant with our 1st. We were both 17. He came from a MESSED up family, and I worried he would carry on the same crap to our kids. His whole world changed when the baby was born, and so did his attitude with every day that passed. Now 5 kids later, he babies and spoils our kids, and lives by the words that he wants them to have EVERYTHING in life he was never given and all the love he was denied. To the point where I think he goes overboard and they get more than they deserve. My family was scared he would be a nightmare, but 17 yrs later, he is the best dad to our kids. Don't sweat it now, your DH will have a change of heart when baby is born and grows. I have NO idea why some guys think like that? Like we would ever let them treat our kids in such a way!
TiffsFirstTime - 3 days ago
MamaBri- by the way, the psychologist Alice Miller specializes in the area of child abuse and neglect (she is extremely anti-spank) so you could try to get him to read one of her books. Such as Banished Knowledge (she is a bit on the extremist side).
TiffsFirstTime - 3 days ago
hopefully 3- you are so lucky! I want another ultrasound! hehe
TiffsFirstTime - 3 days ago
MamaBri- it sounds like your husband is ready to continue the cycle of abuse that he endured. That is a very dangerous mindset. Punishing a child before anything is done will just confuse them and make them feel alone. Also, using spankings as punishment is questionable because it will teach your child that it is ok to hit. I agree with Angelic 100%. It doesn't sound like your husband would be willing to get counseling but I think that would be a good idea, or even some parenting classes that you could go to together. The laws do differ from state to state as far as leaving a child alone but you have the power to say no. I wish you the best of luck for your child's sake. I was abused and neglected as a child and am currently studying psychology so I know what that sort of parental treatment leads to.

Last day in week 25! Woohoo! i am off to my ultrasound and doctors appointment! Cant wait to see my lil boy again!
AngelicB1437 - 4 days ago
Mama Bri - That sounds like a very frustrating situation! I know I would rather err on the side of caution and be over protective than under, and my DH is the same way. The only suggestions I have are to find research and laws in support of your views. It is illegal to leave any child under the age of 12 (I think in ALL US States anyway) home alone for ANY period of time without adult supervision. Any child left alone over night under a certain age can be turned in to Social Services for neglect and abandonment. Spanking is considered child abuse, esp. when done before anything is done wrong. I personally have popped my 4 yr old on the butt many times for behavior problems, and a couple times on the mouth for her attitude and backtalking but I only use it as a last resort. I really hope you are able to work out these issues because they are some pretty big ones from what I can tell. Maybe time and having a little one will change his views on what is and is not okay but I know that doesn't always happen. I wish you the best of luck!
Mama Bri - 4 days ago
Wow, had an interesting day. DH and I talked about raising our kids. I am so freaked out right now. We have two very different view points on raising a kid. His parents left him alone for 2 weeks by him self at a young age and thinks that our kids should be raised the same. He also thinks that a kid should have more than one discipline for one thing wrong!!?? On top of that he is a firm believer that it is ok to spank you kid before they do something wrong.....I am a believer in spanking a kid but not before something is done. How do I talk to him about this and try to convince him of other ways to punish a kid? I don't want to push all my beliefs on him, but what if you really think that you are right in your thinking and he is wrong. We just cannot seem to agree with all these things. If I tell him I can't eat fish, he gives me attitude and tells me I don't know what I am talking about. If I tell him bottles with air in them gives a baby gas or colic, he says I don't know that for sure. I am so lost at what to do. I have been around kids for a while. I am only 22 but started watching babies as young as 6 weeks at the age of 13. He has not been around babies period. What do I do?

evrcastanon - OMG that sucks! I can't believe noone will take you, but then again I can believe it because OB's are so busy they don't take new patients past 12 wks mostly. Do you have any local free clinics or planned parenthood's in your area? They may be able to do a checkup to make sure the baby is okay. When I switched from an OB to a midwife (look into those too, they are wonderful!) at 14 wks or so I didn't have any problems because my OB office sent the records right over. The midwife said she would see me before getting the records if she needed to though because prenatal care is so important. Worst case scenario it might be a little more expensive but your local hospital may be able to do a checkup for you, ultrasound/heart monitor/bp. I know 6 weeks should have only been 1 appt or so and if you aren't high risk the only things you may have missed are the ultrasound (which can be done later than 20 wks) and general wellness of you. Make sure you get something though because 24-28 wks is when you should be getting the gestational diabetes test and also if you have a negative blood type the rhogam shot needs to be done AT 28 wks, no sooner or later. Good luck with everything!

Has anyone had issues in switching OB docs. Well I have had a hell of a time. Stupid me for not being a lawyer and knowing the law! I signed the release form so my records could be sent to the new OB (and I did this twice)... and for the last 6 weeks they gave me the run around... telling me the doc was slow on releasing me. Turns out I should have paid 25 dollars and by law they would have to give me my records within 15 days. Never once was I told that. So now im going on weeks of no prenatal care. I have had bad anxiety attacks this week... I nearly passed out two times. My whole body hurts and I start cramping. Today I called at least 10 docs... can you believe it no one will take me in..Either im 2 far along or I need my records so they can review them. Hope the stress doesnt make him come early :(

Hey ladies! I finally decided to get the H1N1 shot today. My Dr. assured me that there are no known risks to my baby and it does not cross the placenta, therefore it's all about keeping mommy healthy, cause if mommy's not healthy baby's not healthy. I decided that the risk of me getting the swine flu were greater than me getting the shot. Feel totally at ease now.

Chrissi10990- Interesting!! Sure sounds exactly like what I am experiencing. I ate Italian sausage last night, same culprit I couldn't handle with the gallbladder. Oh it figures, lol. I will bring it up to my DR on Tuesday, but like you said, the meds can't be taken during pregnancy. Thanks for the insight, atleast I have a direction to go in now and an idea of what this could be. Back to watching what I eat, grrrr. I was so relieved to have that darn gallbladder gone too:-)
Chrissi10990 - 4 days ago
lil.pigz- I had the same thing even after gallbladder was removed- it turned out to be 'sludge' that was building up in my common bile duct. I was put on medicine to thin it, but had to stop taking it when I became pg. Its starting to act up again and it feels a lot like a gallbladder attack :(

Soooo....I have this crampy irritating pain on my right side below my ribs. NOT the baby, but VERY similar to the pain I felt during the last pregnancy with gall stones. They removed my gall bladder after baby was born, so I am stumped on this pain? I feel totally bloated and full, even though I ate very little today. My luck it's my liver or something now. Sheeesh, bein' preggo takes a toll:-)

My baby is kick'n like a chicken all the time when I'm trying to relax. It made me feel relieved when I read if the baby was delivered at this time it would have a good chance of surviving. Yay FOR 25 WKS! I wouldn't mind if he was born a week early, but that's it. My son turns 2yrs March 24th and my due date is March 4th. I didn't plan on their b-days being so close. I want them to have separate b-day parties and feel extra special on their day. Going to buy a turkey for Thanksgiving. Yum! Can't wait to pig out. I've gained 19 lbs so far. I only gained 21lbs w/ my last. So I'm wondering how far am I gonna go. I'm enjoying this pregnancy so much. It's easier the 2nd time around cause I know what to expect.
