Your baby's crown-to-rump length at this time is approximately 14.4 inches and the total length is approximately 21.5 inches. The average baby weighs a little more than 7 pounds now and is preparing for birth. You are probably as big as you are going to get and may be uncomfortable now. Most women gain between 25 and 35 pounds during their pregnancy. Your uterus is about 7-8 inches above your bellybutton now.

Although your baby continues to grow and develop inside of your uterus, there is not much room for him to move about. All of your baby's organ systems are now complete and the lungs were the last to fully mature.

If you are uncomfortable with your pregnancy at this time, you are not alone. Most women are ready to deliver their babies. It would be very unusual for you to not be uncomfortable at this time. Your uterus has grown a lot and now fills your entire pelvis and abdomen. Try not to ask your doctor to induce you, unless it is medically necessary. Your cervix is ripening in preparation for delivery and your bladder is under a lot of pressure. You may feel nervous about the upcoming labor. You will know when you are in labor because contractions will get worse when you move around and they will also get stronger and more frequent. Other signs of labor are the breaking of your water or a bloody show as the mucus that plugged your cervix becomes dislodged.

Most of the lanugo on your baby should be gone by now. Your baby still may have some on his shoulders and in the creases of his body. Your baby's toenails have reached the end of his toes. The umbilical cord is about a half inch thick and may be wrapped around him. The umbilical cord still supplies the baby with nutrients that he needs. After delivery, your baby's umbilical cord will be clamped and cut. After it is cut, he will be an independent human being and must perform all of his body functions on his own. Your baby will get antibodies from your body that give his immune system a boost.

Juliansmomma2be~ i know that when i went into labor with my first the L&D made me walk for one hour up and down the halls so the contractions would help to dialate me into active labor as i was only at a 2 after walking i was at a 4 then they were able to at least attempt to break my waters (only if it hadnt of broken on its own just before then) so even tho they may not be regular im sure they are helping u still prepare for labor like dialating.

Todays my first day in week 39. I need some advice I have been getting contractions all day. But very infrequent Some every 5 minutes, some every 30 minutes. But they hurt bad. And it seems when I am standing or walking they are more frequent. What's this all about? Am I going into labor or just crazy? I'm tempted to call the birthing center but don't want to waste there time if it isn't the start of labor.

Oh I feel dissapointed, had aches all day then what I'm sure were contractions from 6-9 they were every 4-6mins and got more painful then...... Nothing! So now I'm in bed feelin stupid but at least I didn't go 2 hospital. So I'm off 2 sleep now :-( labour dust 2 all who r left! X

Congratulation lilmamamads :) About the birth story... I tried to ask the only female in our family how as it for her - it's my BF sister. She said in the evening she felt little weird, so she called the hospital and they told her to wait for contractions at home and to come to hospital in the morning if she still feels weird. She explained to me that she never felt contractions. So she said she went to sleep woke up at 7 and went to hospital because still felt nauseated. at 8 she was already holding her son in her arms... and got flagged as 'hallway delivery' for next time :D

Welcome to the world Clementine Jane 7lbs9oz 21 1/2 inches born today on her due date March 19th. I managed to have a 100% natural childbirth in the hospital. Didn't even get an iv. 11 hours of natural childbirth and I didn't even take a tylenol

if you took 2 prenatals accidentally it is fine. Your body just rids itself of excess. You can have too much iron, but being 9 months pregnant you would need to take about 20 pills. you are fine.

I have noticed alot less movement as well from the baby, I think he's storing up his energy to come out:) I heard a great birth story that I want to share. A gal I went to high school with was in her week 40 a few days ago and went to her doctor for her regualr weekly checkup and when he finished he asked her what are you doing today? She replyed 'well I've been busy all day shopping and need to go home and clean for company' and the doctor told her well your in labour as we speak your 10 centimeters and need to go to the hospital and she had her son 1 hour later! I hope it happens that quick for the rest of us and we dont even notice any disscomfort:)

So I got the cervidil in about 3 hours ago so far nothings really happening exept I'm really sore and my lower back really hurts . Nurse said I might have to get it again tomorrow before it works , I'm really preying that I go into labor today tho ... My doctor is such a b*tch tho ... When she checked my cervix she hurt me so bad that I started screaming and crying there is absouloty no reason why it shud hurt that much , she just doesn't care and she panicked me for no reason about babys heartrate and tryed to blame it on me . I really hope she's not there when I go into labor

I don't think you should take two vitmains. You can overdose on them.. Unless your doctor told you too. I have iron tablet, prental, and omega 3. But taking two isn't good for either of you.

omg i've just had the worst day :( dd burnt her hand on the cooker first so we went and got her that special hosp gel for burns, i was so upset, poor little mite so ispent the last few hours entertaining her and then i fed her an apple cut up really small cos at 1 1/2 she still has only 3 teeth and she nearly choked on a piece. i have been crying since jeez icant handle today anymore, i'm ready for tomorrow :(

tashax, I hear ya! I get little pains down below quite a bit... especially when she's super active. It doesn't last long, but they are sharp and will take my breath away sometimes. Also sometimes she will puch real hard and I wet myself a little. TMI, I know, but I think a lot of women have that problem right now. I've been walking eery day and taking primrose capsules, so hopefully things are moving in the right direction. If nothing else then the cervix should be soft for Tuesday. I am getting pretty tired of all the phone calls. I finally just quit answering my phone unless it's my hubby/kids or mom. Not too much longer!

popping in from week 38 OMG MY BLOODY MIDWIFE.... Was ment to have an appointment with her on wednesday (5 days before im due) but shes on holiday AGAIN 3rd time in 5 weeks so now no appointment till im a week over due ...THATS BLOODY GOOD considering we havent discussed labour or birth plan whatso ever !!! all she has ever done is taken my blood pressure n taken blood if needed and had a feel of my belly ... i got her to check babys heartbeat last time but that was only because i asked i barley even get a conversation out of her and all she has said regarding labour is when i think im in labour ring the number on the front of your notes ... if this was my first child i would be shatting myself because i would know bugger all

Hi everyone! Savannah Grace was born on Sunday, March 14th via csection. She was 7 lbs., 7 oz, 20 3/4 inches long. We came home from the hospital yesterday! She is doing really well and is a breastfeeding pro already. she has a bunch of blond hair- surprised me!!! She brings an immediate smile to everyone's face :)

Ungh I slept well :) Still it is freaky that during 2 hour nap I went to toilet :D Anyway we were just discussing with my man about the scary stories of your grandmas that were pregnant for 11 and 12 months. And he actually pointed to me that according to standard counting method I am 10 month pregnant too. The thing is I had my period last time in May. The difference is that these days they were able to point out that the baby was conceived later on (in the mid July). We did that by using preggo tests like every day and then couple of USG. SO maybe if your mothers and grandmothers did not have the luxury of Ultra sound examination they had no idea they were actually not pregnant in the beginning. Tho I have to say that I already feel like 10 month pregnant with all the fuss in the beginning also :)

I've been getting sort pains down below my bladder if tht makes sense, not really sore or tht just short and sharp. As i feel it sore it goes away. Hopefully hes getting ready to come. Hes still moving around, got an arm sticking out at the belly button or its a leg :P, r they suppose to move around when you are getting ready for labour? I cant remember reece moving alot at the end (was thinking it may of been because he was soo small and i was soo big)? x x

Goodmorning ladies, my son Elijah michael was born on the 17th at 9:10a, he was 8 lbs 9oz (the largest of the crew) labor was VERY fast 3 hours total but the little guy has a heart murmer and tacchycardia :(. Good luck to you all! Wishing u a safe delivery!
