Born & Birth stories

Dates and numbers:
There are 59 days until your due date on June 22, 2014.
You are 221 days pregnant.
You are 7.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: September 15, 2013 to December 14, 2013. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: December 15, 2013 to March 29, 2014. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: March 30, 2014 to June 22, 2014. (28 - 40 weeks)

Your baby is continuing to grow each week that you remain pregnant. Your baby's crown-to-rump length is nearly 11.2 inches and total length is approximately 18 inches. Your baby weighs approximately 3.5 pounds at this point. Your uterus is about 4.4 inches above your bellybutton and continues to get larger. An average weight gain at this point is between 21 and 27 pounds. The weight that you gain is made up of your baby, placenta, blood supply, uterus, breasts, fat, water storage and amniotic fluid.

Because the ligaments and muscles supporting the small of your back relax and loosen in order to get ready for childbirth, your back may be aching from now on. There is usually nothing that can be done to prevent backaches, only to make them more comfortable. Many women get heartburn during these last few weeks of pregnancy because the oversized uterus leaves less room for the stomach and the contents within the stomach. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help relieve the discomforts of heartburn.

This week marks an incredible milestone in your baby's lung development. Before now, the air sacs and branches in your baby's lungs were present but not functional. The lungs were not able to inflate properly. However, now there is surfactant being produced in your baby's lungs. Surfactant prevents your baby's lungs from collapsing outside of the uterus and the baby is able to take in air and breathe properly. The fetal ear is almost completely developed both inside and out. Your baby can hear your voice and other familiar sounds that she will recognize after birth. Your baby is putting on white fat under the skin and the skin's color is pink instead of red at this point. Your baby's fingernails have grown to the end of her fingers and she may scratch herself while she is in the womb.

So I started packing for the hospital today ... Wow how time is starting to fly ... Can't wait it meet our little baby :)

snowrider54 - 7 days ago
I don't think I 'dropped' until I was close to delivering with my last pregnancy. I had some seriously uncomfortable Braxton Hicks contractions yesterday. I was getting a little concerned that I needed to start monitoring for pre-term labor but I haven't had anything today. Heartburn has also been a problem for the last few days too.

purplelizard270 - 9 days ago
Less than 9 weeks until my due date. WOW! Kind of amazing how fast time seems to be going. When do most women 'drop?' I'm feeling tons of pressure today. I don't remember this with my first.

SamanthaDawn - 32 days ago
LOL I should have! I wanted to! That would have been funny... I should be more like that sometimes and just do what I want! You only live once.

onj - 33 days ago
SamanthaDawn- I worked at tims for 4 years, there is a whipped cream button to charge 50 cents. There is no reason they couldn't have done that. You should have yelled and screamed and pointed at your belly lol.

jaybird81 - 34 days ago
A donut with whipped cream?! That sounds amazing! I had my glucose test today, finally, and super late! My doctor said he's not too worried about GB and me since I'm having a c-section. Sheesh, I care about potentially carrying around a 10(+) pound baby in me! On a surprising positive note- this was the first weigh-in that I haven't gained weight. I was shocked! I've gained 25 pounds and have yet to get new stretch marks (fingers crossed)!

SamanthaDawn - 34 days ago
I'm emotional too LOL I almost cried at tim hortons because I asked if I could pay extra to have whip cream put on my donut and they said NO! ...I had it done before and it wasn't a problom, and it was the most delicious thing I ever ate. I was so angry I wanted to be like 'just charge me what you would charge if I were getting it on top of coffee/hot chocolate or an ice cap, put it in an empy cup AND ILL DO IT MYSELF!' but I didnt say that I just got my donut without whip cream and left angry.

@bkle I would have been totally livid about the pans and would have went on a pan-washing strike! Then he could see how difficult the pans are to clean. Do you still have your old pans? I would keep cooking with those and pretend like the 300 dollar pans don't exist! Well, that's my hormonal opinion...and I am as pregnant as you are- so I might be as crazy too! hahaha And 4 Boys- I hear ya, I've turned into an impatient monster. Usually I have buckets of patience, but not lately- I get annoyed at the drop of a pin.

4girls want a boy - 36 days ago
Oh ya bkle I am on a roll too . My husband was on the phone with the internet people and he is talking to the lady and I am talking and venting to him at the same time. So I'm like just hang up on her she is not helping. Finaly he told the lady let me just tell my wife what you are saying so she is not so upset. LOL When he got off the phone he was just shaking his head like oh my you are too much. I was yelling at a women in a different car becasue because she honked at us . My husband was driving good thing.. Then I called my work and asked if I am coming in this week and she put me on for one day for 4 hours. After I got off the phone I guess I was ranting and raving because my 16 year old was like mom you need to calm down.. It hormones for me for sure . I am always a calm , and happy person , but seems this last week I have turned into a monster

bkle - 36 days ago
I know this probably isn't the forum to be talking about this but I need to vent. This is going to sound stupid but here it is. My husband and I were going to buy new pots and pans and so we bought one out of a set that we thought we wanted but wanted to test it out before paying 300.00 for the set. I hated the pan!!! I told him no to those pans and now I just found out he bought it anyway ugh pregnancy hormones or what going on but I really hate those pans!!! they are so expensive too, and so so so difficult to clean and im the one that does the dishes. Why do men have to be so stupid sometimes???? I mean really?? Im ready to take an immature road on this and refuse to use them or clean them! I hope its just hormones making me feel this angry over something so unimportant Anyone one else over reacting to things like me?

bkle - 36 days ago
that's weird that they wont let you sign back on your old account. The site is kind of run down.

4girls want a boy - 36 days ago

bkle - 37 days ago
all this talk of everyone being sick makes me worried to leave the house :-( I hope everyone gets better soon and crossing my fingers my household doesn't get what is going around everywhere.

swissmammy3 - 38 days ago
I have been in so much pain today....think I caught a stomache big off my son. Been sick all morning and only now starting to feel a little better :-(

momofour - 38 days ago
My hips (pubic bone) are killing me! When I sit or lay on my side... I put a huge pillow between my legs and laid on my side & finally felt like a new woman... But sitting... Am I gonna have to bring a fluffy pillow to work!? Haha... Anyone else noticing this pain?

bkle - 38 days ago
Samantha-- sounds like you and I are in about the same boat haha. I didn't have any baby showers until my 3rd and then my mom sort of backed out after invites were out so I ended up holding it for myself. I got a few gifts but was disappointed at the very few people who came, and yet gratefull for the ones that did find my baby and I important enough to come. I was asked by a friend of mind that since I was having a boy this time around if I were going to have a baby shower and I said NO.

SamanthaDawn - 38 days ago
Thanks, I have got everything myself for all 3 babies (well me and hubby)With my first I never had a baby shower until my baby was 3.5 months old and that's only because I said to my mom how sad I was that nobody cared. I didn't get much, only some dollar store bibs, and some clothes that were for a 18-24 month old! (which didn't matter because I already had my baby and everything I needed.)It wasn't about the gifts I just wanted to feel like my new baby was worth celebrating. I didn't have a shower for my second, and won't for my 3rd. Which is ok, I'm just a little jealous of the people who get baby showers thrown for them and get nice things they actually need before baby arrives. I will never know what that's like. It hurt my feelings when I didnt have a shower for my first. And then when I did it just felt half assed and out of pity. ...I do feel proud tho that I did things myself and am decorating the nursery with all things I bought, and decorating the wall with paintings that I hand painted myself. My baby will have everything He/or She needs. :)

bkle - 39 days ago
Samantha-- your a good mommy to want to do things yourself and take pride in not mooching off of people. What fun is that anyway? I love shopping for my little one, granted a gift that someone cares is always nice to receive and I don't ever expect one so it makes it even more special when I do get one :-)

bkle - 39 days ago
mummy-- I laughed when I saw the word you used; moobag bahaha. That sounds about right. Its amazing how many people are like that moobag out there. ;-)

mummytoharrison - 39 days ago
Nope, SamanthaDawn, she sounds like a right ungrateful moobag.

SamanthaDawn - 39 days ago
There is this girl on my facebook who is 3.5 weeks further along than I am and maybe it's just my pregnancy hormones but her pictures and statuses anger me! lol She is constantly complaining, like at 15 weeks she was saying how she can't sleep because she can't get comfterble anymore, she's too big (she was tiny) and she gets everything given to her, crib, crib set, change table, change pad, dresser, highchair, pack n play, bassinette, tons of clothes, blankets, bottles, diapers Everything brand new. and then she has a status bitching about how so&so won't buy her baby a carseat & stroller so her baby don't need that person in her life, and somebody comments dont worry I'll get you a carseat and stroler somehow, you don't need people like that in your life.... I'm thinking WHAT THE HELL? I'm only 22 with my 3rd child on the way and would NEVER expect anybody to buy something that expensive for my kid. My mother-in-law is getting me some diapers and I'm thinking great! Everything else I bought myself, been perparing buying one thing at a time since I was 6 weeks. (and I had NOTHING saved from my previous babies because I thought I was done, and gave it to my sister when she had her baby. It also annoys me when she's always complaining about her feet aching... I understand that but she writes it every day, and she dosen't work. ...ok sorry everyone I sound like a B*tch maybe I'm just jealous that I didn't get everything handed to me.

elisiaxx - 40 days ago
That baby in the picture does look massive haha! I feel so big this time round :( yeah I had really bad pains low down it felt like a very sharp pain :( touch wood it has gone today

4girls want a boy - 40 days ago
Yes it was the Dr's choice. She could of picked the other hospital that is next to the hospital I was going to go to , and right across the street from her office . That hospital has a very bad rep , and its always packed with homeless people, and crazyness . I'm happy she picked the other hospital . It's only 10 years old in a nice area. I just hope I can make it there if I go into labor on my own. So I called them today to get a tour , but they only do them once a month so I will have to register tomorrow and tour it on the 13th of next month.Lets see if my Dr can even make it all the way other there if i go into labor.

bkle - 40 days ago
4girls---sorry you have to change hospitals this late in pregnancy :-( that sucks! and to have to drive an hour away. Hopefully it is at least a better hospital then the one that isn't doing deliveries anymore. Does this mean your doctor is driving that far as well?

mummytoharrison - 40 days ago
An hour?!!! Holy cow :(

4girls want a boy - 40 days ago
Oh so I did just find at my Dr visit yesterday that I will no longer be able to diliver at the hospital that I thought I was going to diliver at. They got a 30 day notice that, that hospital will no longer be dilivering babies. So I will be going to a hospital that is an hour away, and I have never even been there before..LOL Thats ok my pregnancy has kinda had that kind of luck so whatever . We will go this weekend to register .

onj - 40 days ago
LOL mummytoharrison, I always feel a bit like I've been kicked in the groin by a mule. Or at least by an incredibly strong alien growing inside me lol. I don't want to wish my time away, but man, I can't wait for 37 weeks!!!

mummytoharrison - 41 days ago
Anyone elses pelvis so sore that it feels like they've been kicked in the groin by a mule?

mummytoharrison - 41 days ago
That baby does look odd lol

bkle - 41 days ago
Samantha the baby in the picture looks like a monkey hehehe.... I hope my baby looks better then that ;-)

SamanthaDawn - 41 days ago
...And is it just me, or does this picture not look right. I mean I look and feel that big... but the baby in this picture does not look like a 3.5 lb baby to me it looks huge.

SamanthaDawn - 41 days ago
Woo-hoo elisaxx!!! The light at the end of the tunnel! I don't know when I'll stop working. Since I'm only part-time I'm going to try to make it to 37 weeks but every day I work I am so tired when I come home! That's exciting about your daughters birthday comming up. I can't wait until my kids birthdays! My son will be 4, and my daughter will be 6. their birthdays are 3 weeks apart so I'm going to have their party together this year because I'm going to get them a swingset as their shared gift. I can't wait!! It's not until summer tho but I've been thinking about it for months now already. lol

elisiaxx - 41 days ago
It's my daughters 2nd birthday on the 22nd... I can't wait :) haha!! Also I finish work in 3 weeks yaaaaaay!!!

bkle - 41 days ago
4girls... it does seem like dr's these days rush us out like cattle! What happened to all the caring ones that take their time? They are just to busy to truly care these days. The specialist im going to never rushes me, but then again he has limited patients due to he is a high risk ob. My doc that I had for 13 years was rushing me out before I moved, made me feel like he didn't care. Hope your appointment goes well today

bkle - 41 days ago
ive been watching that show one born every minute and it reminds me of what the pain is like LOL Not looking forward to that. I talked with my hubby the other day on the phone about what I wanted like the pain shot, no forceps ect. I told him that if I have to have a c section that while they are in there they might as well cut and tie me. It surprised me when he said he may want more kids and asked me not to do it. What a surprise that was!

4girls want a boy - 41 days ago
nzahab I too was very worried about labor that I was crying every time I would think about it.I know how you feel. I hope you will feel some kind of peace about it. I am not afraid any more just waiting for it to happen.

4girls want a boy - 41 days ago
Well today is my Dr's visit. I am ready to go back to work ! I have a few questions for my Dr as I did last time I hope she has time listen to them this time. The last time I saw her she had lost her phone and no lie was screeming and venting all threw the office . She was going in all the rooms looking for it no knock on door did not say anything when she came in just going on and on how someone must of took her phone. Then she walk out of my room and was on the phone calling the cell phone place , and a few of her friends talking so loud about how mad she was. After all that she came to my room first listen to the baby for a second , I told her I was having cramps and she said ok your on bed rest checked my cervix very fast and walked out.. I could not believe how she was with me.. This time she needs to hear me. I need to talk about what pain meds im going to use in labor, how many people in the labor room, and that I don't want her to be fast to induce me.

mummytoharrison - 42 days ago
I hear you on the exhausted thing. Moving feels like a huge effort and I've only gained 6.5kg (14lbs) according to my scales. As for labour, I am not worrying about it yet but who knows how that'll change ovee the next few weeks. I think I was lucky with my first labour, despite ending up as a forceps delivery, so that's helped keep me calm. I have a scan on Wednesday and then my repeat 4d scan the following Sunday too.

nzahab - 42 days ago
32 weeks tomorrow! Starting to feel really big now and I don't have any energy to just move around. Daily tasks like cleaning and cooking are stressing to me at the moment. I can't help to think if I kept fit I wouldn't have felt this way... but I could be wrong. Feeling worried about the labour now. Ive got mixed emotions.. I want the time to fly but at the same time I don't.. lol Im excited to meet my baby though more than anything. My 4 bubs ask me everyday, whens baby going to come out?

mummytoharrison - 42 days ago
Yup, knees elbows bum head - she was really hurting me with her wriggling last night.

4girls want a boy - 42 days ago
I think im feeling knees and albows .

SamanthaDawn - 42 days ago
I have been feeling baby sticking out a lot, either a head or a bum I cannot tell. And the other night I put my hand right under my belly at the bottom and felt it kicking/or punching my hand :)

elisiaxx - 42 days ago
I have an antenatal appointment tomorrow with the doctor very excited to hear babys heartbeat again, I don't have any more scans now I just have to wait until the baby is born to see him again :( any one else feeling the body parts now, my one keeps sticking his bum out haha! I also find out tomorrow if he is head down :)

4girls want a boy - 42 days ago
Oh and i work at Kmart in the area where people go when they are returning something or they are pissed. There is tuns of lifting , that I don't do but tuns of stress and tuns of walking

4girls want a boy - 42 days ago
Samantha at first when I was like 20 weeks pregnant I said I was going to work till 39 weeks pregnant. If I get the ok to get off bed rest and im sure I will I plan on starting my leave at 37 weeks . I am huge too, and can't even picture myself trying to limp around work at 39 weeks pregnant when I will be even bigger . With my job I have to call in for my leave 30 days before I plan on starting my leave, and have my Dr fill out paper work and send it back to them . My Dr may take 7 days to fill out the paper work so I will be calling them next week at 32 weeks . I have not seen my co wrokers for 2 weeks now and im sure when they see my they are going to trip out on how big my belly got. Before I got pregnant I had lost a tun of weight and was looking pretty good. Everyone at work noticed . I told them I have big babies and I get huge. They will all soon see.

SamanthaDawn - 42 days ago
I am 31 weeks tomorrow, too. I am starting to wonder when I should stop working. I am only part-time so it's only 2-3 days a week. But it's VERY early mornings. I go in at 5:15 am tomorrow. It is exhaustng. I'm a breakfast waitress at a hotel and they have 2 waitresses serving between 150-200 people. AND doing the dishes and cleaning up afterwards. You have to move fast to clear tables because the dining room only seats 28 at a time and I am always waddling around as fast as I can, I get braxton hicks a lot while working. I do not have enough hours to get un-employment when i take my maternity leave so i am trying to stay as long as I can. but it's starting to get hard on my back and feet. I'm thinking I'll be done at 36-37 weeks. I always said I'd work right until the day before c-section but now that I'm big I just wanna be done! How many of you are working mommas? When did/do you plan on stopping?

4girls want a boy - 42 days ago
I will be 31 weeks tomorrow , but hello 31 weeks ! 6-9 more weeks ! One week till my scan I can't wait to see her and how big she is ! I will be packing my bag around 36 weeks, only the stuff that I won't be using day to day. Mummytoharrison I won't be using washable diapers till she is 5 months old and the poo is soild .lol Till then I am stocked up with diapers and wipes. I am stocked up with breast pads too. I just still need panties , and few things for my bag.

mummytoharrison - 43 days ago
Sorry, Modern Cloth Nappies. The washable ones with poppers on them.
