10 months old Your baby is more aware of what makes you happy and what dissapoints you. When you clap, he will continue with what he was doing. Sometimes you may want him to show off his new skills and talents to others. Some babies will do this, but do not be dissapointed if he does not. Many babies are not quite ready to be performers yet! Your baby has lots of feelings and emotions. She can get upset very easily. When other people are upset, she knows. She might even respond by getting upset herself. Teach your baby how to deal with her feelings in a positive manner.

If it hasn't already, stranger anxiety may strike around now. He knows when you are not around and will probably cry. Some babies will wake up in the night looking for a familiar face. Practice short separations and when you return, make it enjoyable. When your baby is going somewhere new, plan to stay for a little while to help dettle him in. When you leave, tell him goodbye and give him a kiss/hug. Then, leave. He will get busy playing and will be just fine.

She understands simple sentences and commands. Your baby knows the meaning of `no` and can shake her head from side to side. When she learns a new word, she may become fascinated with it and repeat it all day. When you ask your baby where a part of her body is, she might be able to show you. Read books to your baby and continue to tell her what the pictures show.

From here on out, your baby will be testing your authority. You need to set rules and limits and stick to them. If your baby is allowed to do one thing today but not tomorrow, she will only get confused. Make it easy for your baby to behave. Remember that she is still a baby and set realistic limits. Move temptations out of her way until she can better understand why she needs to leave it alone. Instead of saying `no` all of the time, use words such as `hot`, `it will hurt`, 'it will break`, etc. Be patient, gentle and undersanding when she is doing something that you do not like. If your baby gets angry because she is not getting her way, be firm. Do not give in to make her feel better.

Play games with your baby. Babies like playing peek-a-boo and other hide and find type games. Imitation games are also good for your baby to play. Because babies learn by imitation, only show him things that you want him to learn. This is a good way to teach him how to clap his hands and wave by bye.

Climbing is a skill that is important for your baby to learn. While she is learning to climb, always be nearby in case she falls. Your baby needs to know what types of things are appropriate to climb on. Do not teach her to climb anything that will be off limits. Show her how to climb down crawling backwards so that she does not come down head first. Do not allow her to climb the stairs unless you are with her. Baby gates should be installed at the tops and bottoms of stairs to prevent accidents.

Let your baby use a spoon to feed herself. Mashed potatoes, yogurt, applesauce, cottage cheese and cooked cereals will stick well to the spoon. This can make learning to self-feed less messy. Continue to include finger foods at mealtime and for snacks. Your baby should still be on breastmilk or formula. Mealtimes should be a fun learning time and not frustrating. A mess is easily cleaned up. If your baby senses frustration, she will be less likely to attempt self-feeding.

I was about to lay down for a nap with my Joshua when my MIL came over with some vday flowers for me (she knows I wont get sh*t from her son). She asked if I minded if she stayed a bit and cleaned for me. Is it bad that Im laying here, not sleeping, while shes cleaning? I dont want to get up cause Ill feel like I have to clean too lol. I'll probably stay in bed a while and let her do her thing.

DianaWilcox - Tuesday, 14 Feb
Aww sorry to hear he's sick destiny...it's def rough for both of you but hang in there...he def needs you to be his comfort. I used to suction Joey when he was congested...if u do that, use saline to loosen it up...and I used a humidifier at night too...hope he gets well soon! Lillian's...I hear u...just go! But it's not easy taking a trip with a baby...u gotta pack milk, food, snacks, toys, diapers, wipes, bottles, sippy cup, lotion, a place to sleep, blankets....the list goes on! Lol But it should be fun! Just try not to stress! Hehe!

lillianshappymommy - Monday, 13 Feb
Arggghhhh!! I love weddings(atleast I think I do this will be my first one!), but it is amazing how stressful it is to get ready to go to one! It does not help that it is in nc! I'm having trouble finding flights that are not too expensive to asheville and it's giving me a headache! But I did find some great dresses for lillian. I say dresses because she may need an outfit change and I found one for her birthday! Yay! Now I have to book the flights, hotel, find me a dress, find john a suit, Find a car service(because I grew up in nyc I never learned how to drive and alas it is finally coming to bite me in my heiny! lol) get my hair done. send out the rsvp, find out luggage requirements...You know I'm seriously thinking about not going anymore!! Lol How are you ladies??

Destiny*Joshua*BabyOnTheWay - Monday, 13 Feb
Joshua just keeps getting sick. Its so frustrating. I have to give him steroids for 5 days and breathing treatments 4 times a day till hes better. He cant sleep cause hes choking on mucus. Poor guy.

my snuggle bunny - Sunday, 12 Feb

Savannah isn't to pleased wiv me holding a new baby but she kisses her and it soooo cute, hope everyone is good. Xxx

lissie - Thursday, 9 Feb
THanks ladies :) I am trying to just test it out each day. Today he was the same but at least looked at one picture of a butterfly. I think he just liked that the book had a rattle lol. The good thing is that I am starting ti read a little more again to my older two. They have seen me try to read to the baby and beg me now ha ha. It is SO CUTE that your babies are waving bye-bye/hello :)))) I can't wait for Ammon to wave or clap. I think it is adorable. He can stand if I make him. He has excellent balance. He doesn't have the confidence yet though to really try. He just stands for a second until he can sit safely. Oh well :) He is an expert when it comes to crawling. And OMGoodness he sprinted to the bathroom the other day when my toddler left it open (with pee pee in it) and i caught him jsut as he splashed in the potty. YUCK!

lillianshappymommy - Thursday, 9 Feb
ten months! Cannot believe she is ten months! I don't have time to plan a party for her! But I will find the time! lol Lucky for us her birthday falls in the two weeks when we have spring break(I'm in school finishing out my degree.)so that makes it much easier to have it on a weekend when most people are free. :) I'm so excited! lillians waving hello, byebye, clapping her hands, cruising and can stand on her own when I let go but she get's annoyed with me when I do that. haha. I think she can walk she just don't want to do it for me yet. :) six teeth my little munchkin has. Lillian likes playing with her books more than she likes listening to me read them, but I try to read to her once a day. I understand the frustration though of feeling like you want to give up when they don't pay attention. @rb Congratulations on the boy! When I start ttc that's what I'm hoping for! Since I have my little girl. lol

hisgirleveryday - Thursday, 9 Feb
oh no koro. im still here. lol.im actually donating it to a local church. someone in need can use it more than i could. :)baby girl is on the move too. she is taking 5-8 steps 3-5 times a day. says mama and dada....together when in her crib in the morning and in the car when she cant see us. its so cute. shes doing tons more than she was last month. i just cant believe she is going to be one soon. we have been planning her party and getting things together for that so we have been busy. koro lo likes to dance and sing too. she is not into the books...well she likes to throw them as i start reading them. lissie....ive tried reading to mine but she just isnt into it. she likes to play independently most of the time. i think as she gets older i will start to do a bedtime story before bed with her routine. but like koro said..every baby is different and i dont think you should be too hard on yourself about it.

koropola - Thursday, 9 Feb
Hisgirl why are you so quite?? Did you also run away? What did you do with the baby food????

koropola - Thursday, 9 Feb
Lissie - all babies are different dear. My dd1 was also very interested and she spoke early and she walked at 9mos. To this date she passes with distinctions at school. Ds was not interested, he started talking very late and he walked at 14mos. Dd2, my lo, she doesn't like it that much when I am reading to her. She enjoys music more. She will dance and clap her hands when she hears music. At 10mos she is not walking yet. But she talks a lot. She can even immitate a dog's bark...lol! Its so cute when she does that. She says so many words. But no walking yet. She can stand on her own, but she can't walk. Hopefully, she'll walk before she turns 1...lol!
