Your baby, 11 months

32 and older

11 months old Your baby is getting ready to take his first steps! He can stand on his own and if you hold onto his hands, he will walk. He does a good job of bending, squatting, stooping and getting back to a standing position. You might be able to tell if he is going to be right or lefthanded.

Your baby knows that people and objects have names. Expand her vocabulary by continuing to read, sing and talk to her. If you laugh at something your baby does, she will do it again. She will imitate everything that you do. She sees an expression on your face and will mimic it. She is learning what animals and people do. If she sees a cat ot dog, she will meow and bark. If your baby knows that you are dissapointed or upset with her, she will hide from you.

Each baby is different and develops at different paces. Just because your first child walked at 11 months, does not mean this child will. If you are concerned about your child's development, speak to his doctor. Remember that the more you interact and guide him, the more he will develop. If your baby gets frustrated when trying to do something new, don't push him. This will cause him to get frustrated and he will lose self confidence.

Show your child what you expect out of him. Realistic expectations will help your child follow directions better. She is still learning what is acceptable and what is not, and it is your job to guide her. Avoiding situations where you have to constantly redirect your baby will make it easier on you and him both. Love, attention and affection are all part of effective discipline. Always remember to praise your child when you see her being appropriate.

Toys that are good for this age are: books, push toys, ride on toys, balls, stacking rings, simple puzzles, telephones, puppets, large cars and trucks, shape boxes, pegboards and pegs, linking toys, large blocks, toys with textures, noisy toys, dolls and stuffed animals. Pretend play toys are also appropriate. Dress up clothes, hats and pretend foods are all good for little learners.

Your child is probably eating a wide variety of foods at this point. She is also getting better control of using a spoon, although alot still ends up in the floor. Although she is still nursing or being bottle-fed formula, she should be drinking juice or water from a cup. Remember to offer her a wide variety of nutritional foods. Establishing healthy eating habits now will go along ways in the future.

One more thing my cousin is 2 months preggers and she was using the nuvaring just like you josephsmom

sandoval2009 - Friday, 19 Mar
josephsmom-See we are in the same boat. At my dr office they said they had one other girl come in pregnant with the IUD. What the hell is BC supposed to be for if it doesnt have a high effective rate as promised. There is no way that there is actually a 99.4% effective rate for IUD if I personally know of at least 3 people that have gotten preggers with it.

sandoval2009 - Friday, 19 Mar
All you ladies BEWARE I'm pregnant and was on the paraguard IUD and I know another girl that did also, however she got an abortion. I am keeping my baby despite the fact that I am scared and not sure how I will handle 2. Wish me luck on my pregnancy

Forgot to say. Max took some steps yesreday. HE was exactly 11 months old yesterday too. He is growing up soooo fast. He is hopefully my last so it is hard to see him grow up. I have my oldest son doind his entrance exam for secondary school tomorrow and my middle boy is making his holy communion on 1st May and then i have a baby who just learned to walk! I feel so old and i am not 30 until May.

Luzaan - Friday, 19 Mar
Hehehe..DS liked to wave at a stage but also refusing now. Also not big on the finger foods but is progressing. I always give him his bowl of food with a spoon for him and me. His spoon usally go to the floor and afterwards I will give him fish fingers or chicken rings wich he will munch on for a while and then dinner is over. I am nog going to puch him to do things he don't wnat to. He is not on the sippy cup completly, will only drink a few sips op water from it. Hope all ya mammas have a great weekend xxx

thenorthcutts - Thursday, 18 Mar
yeah they do have latex condoms but it just takes the fun out of it. lol. the depo is evil! i'll never get back on it.

cawpaw98@yahoo.co.uk - Thursday, 18 Mar
weird cos Max is the same. He seems to think its funny when i ask him to do it and he doesnt. He smirks as if to say i dont feel like it so stop asking me! He seems to do a lot of other stuff though so i was just wondering is it normal. Also anyone elses baby not a great fan of finger foods. Max freaks out sometimes if i dont have a spoon feed there waiting for him. He loves his food off the spoon. He hates the feel of most stuff in his hand. he eats lumps no bother and he eats things like biscotti in his hand he just doesnt like wet stuff in the hand.

mommajess - Thursday, 18 Mar
Hudson doesn't do it much either. He can, he just won't.

cawpaw98@yahoo.co.uk - Thursday, 18 Mar
please help. anyone elses baby not waving bye bye? max is 11 months today and he just refuses to do it.

mommajess - Wednesday, 17 Mar
We'll see how this goes after this 'second' period is finally finished and my yeast infection/irritation or whatever the heck was going on is cleared up. It is much much much better now, but still not 100%. I am hoping we can be strong and use condoms all the time and I'll just do lots of 'helping' when we don't do the BD. Hudson will be a year old on 4/10...it's sneaking up on me! Mercy me where did time go!

cawpaw98@yahoo.co.uk - Wednesday, 17 Mar

She runs, her first word was 'Mem', waves, 'hello' is putting her hand by her ear (phone), she's a hell of a screamer, won't let go of the boob (never had formula) and is so very beautiful, I'm looking forward to our conversations. Happy birthday everybody :D !!!

the scroggins - Tuesday, 16 Mar
not wanting to be held as much is the damn truth lol :)

Luzaan - Monday, 15 Mar
I have use cp before when I was much younger (Melodine or something like that) But since we struggled to get pregnant with our first I decided not to use any again untill we are finish with our children, then my hubby can go for a snip-snip...hehehe. So far lady luck is on my side and is not preggies yet while using my ovulation calander. As soon as our DS is 1 we will try again. Are any one else using the ovulation calander and how is it working for you?

josephsmom - Sunday, 14 Mar
Have you tried the depo shot? Both my sisters swear by it....

SunnyMom - Sunday, 14 Mar
Happy birthday to all our special little girls and boys!! :-) Danny will turn one on Wednesday.

thenorthcutts - Sunday, 14 Mar
I cant get an IUD. I was going to get one but my uterus is so tilted now that there is NO way to get it in without going straight through. So either its the shot, the implanon, the patch, nuvaring or pills. I can't trust myself with the pills, I'm not doing the patch, the shot is making me look like a whale and the implanon is basically like the shot. I'm allergic to latex so we can't use condoms.

mommajess - Sunday, 14 Mar
Thanks sandy127962...I have been on ortho tricyclen and still had 2 periods a month before. I don't know why but Yasmin was the only thing that worked and now it doesn't work. Same with me about getting prego with Hudson...quit my pills after June, had a period July 1 and found out I was pregnant Aug. 6 even though the doctor told me it could take a while after being on the pill so long. However, I have heard SOOOOOO many stories of women coming off the pill and getting prego almost instantly. We want to get pregnant this year, just not tomorrow. I went to the hospital with my SIL today to see an aquaintance because she had her baby this morning and it probably wasn't a good thing for me to see considering how badly I want to have another baby. Oh well...I just need to be patient. Pray and be patient. The summer will get here faster than I realize. But I'm scared of anything but the pill. Two ob/gyns told me they didn't trust anything but the pill, so I'm a hard sell on anything else.

sandy127962 - Sunday, 14 Mar
Mommajess I went throught the same thing when I went on the levelin24 pill after having Emma two periods a month and after the second month called my OB and he switched me to ortho tricyclen and it fixed it in a month had one long period like 8 days the first month and then the next month was normal. Just some info on what happened with me. Did not take 3 months at all. And when I went off the pill from being on a year with Dana I got preggo in 3 weeks even though they said it would most likely be 3 months you just never know.

josephsmom - Sunday, 14 Mar
DONT TAKE THE NUVARING! Expecially if you DON'T want to get preggers! I had my JJ because it DOES NOT work! I did everything I shoudl have. I mean its so simple. You put it in then forget it for 3 weeks. Take it out and in a week put in a new one. When I went to the doctor when I became preg I told her that I was on the ring for BC and she laughed because I was the 3RD person THAT day that was pregnant and on the ring... It is supposed to be the same as the pill but I don't think thats right. I have met a lot of people that got pregnant on it. Get the IUD if you really don't want to get preg...

mommajess - Saturday, 13 Mar
Totally went off topic there...I asked my doctor about switching bc pills, but she said since I was going to stop in May anyway in order to get prego this summer, her reccommendation was that I do one of two things: either stick it out until May with two periods or quit taking it all together. The reason being is that it would take three months to see a difference/improvement with a new bc and that is how long it would be until May. So why switch and then quit before I can even see results. So like I say, I was Fertile Myrtle when I stopped the bc the first time to get Hudson, pray for me that we are very careful this time and that we make it until at least the summer.

mommajess - Saturday, 13 Mar
I haven't gained weight on birth control...ever. But I have a friend who gained while getting the shot and that kinda turned me off to that alternative. I don't mind taking bc pills, but I do mind double periods. In fact, I keep loosing weight since I quit bf Hudson. I'm lighter than I was before I got prego by like 5 pounds. I don't mind this but I need to tighten my tummy arms and legs before summer gets here...and I'm running out of time.

thenorthcutts - Saturday, 13 Mar
mommajess- birth control has screwed me over bad. i was on the depo shot for almost 3 years before i got pregnant and i never gained weight on it. after having carson i decided i wanted to get back on the depo and ive gained almost 30lbs in a year. i'm not blamming it ALL on the shot but my doctor is taking me off and putting me on the nuvaring.
