2 months old During this month, your baby will smile, laugh and make many different kinds of noises. Talk to your baby and encourage him to continue making sounds. When you place your baby on his chest, he can lift his head and chest up. Give your baby a variety of toys that make different sounds, have different textures and light up. All of this will help to develop his senses.

Most babies will spit up at some point or another because of overfeeding or the lack of a mature digestive system. This is very common and is usually not a cause for concern. As long as your child is growing properly and the spit up does not cause him to choke, he is probably fine. More than likely, the spitting up will improve as your baby gets older.

Soon your baby will be rolling over, so it is time to start thinking safety! Avoid leaving your baby on changing tables, couches, countertops and other surfaces unattended. You never know when she will decide to roll for the first the first time.

Until your baby is four to six months old, there is no need to supplement his diet with water, juice or cereal. Some parents are tempted to put cereal into a baby's bottle to help them sleep longer-this is not recommended. Babies get all of the nutrition they need from breast milk or infant formula. Your baby has probably settled into more of a predictable feeding pattern. Most babies will drink about 5-6 ounces of formula or breast milk every 3-4 hours. Avoid giving your baby a bottle in his crib and do not prop the bottle while you are feeding him.

Because all babies have different temperaments, it should be understood that some babies are fussier than others. While some babies are quiet, calm and content most of the time, others are not. Some babies get fussy and aggrevated very easily and need more nurturing from their caregivers. If you use a pacifier, try to limit the amount of time you give it to your baby. Give it to your baby when he needs it for comort and avoid giving it to him when he is not fussy. Never hang the pacifier from his neck to avoid strangulation.

Your baby will learn from you and his environment. Make your baby feel secure and loved by responding to his needs promptly. This will help your baby build trust in you. Never yell, shake or hit your baby--even if you do get frustrated or upset. Doing so can seriously harm your baby and decrease the trust that he has in you.

Wow kitty! Julianna is barely fitting in 3-6 mths... And she turned 3 mths 2/12... I think length has the biggest factor cuz she's a shorty but a chunky. She actually still fits n lots of her 0-3 mths

kitty79 - 7.1 hours ago
Wow Rachie, thats a lot of sleeping, lol. ;)

kitty79 - 7.1 hours ago
Oh and also what sizes are your little ones wearing now? Nicky just turned 10 weeks and he is wearing some 3-6 months still but they are starting to get too snug. Mostly the sleepers have actually now jumped to 9 months and some 12 months dependent on the make/style. At his 2 month appt he was just shy of 14 pounds and 24.5 inches long.

Kitty- karlee has 5oz every 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hrs. She sleeps from 830pm to 530pm. We tried bumping her up to 6 but she started spitting up a lot

kitty79 - 8.3 hours ago
Just wondering... how many ounces of formula/breastmilk is everyone's little one drinking a day? How much per feeding? how many feedings a day? **** Nicky is roughly at 40 ounces a day. He drinks 8 oz per feeding. He feeds roughly every 4 hours (minus the one he skips due to sleeping through the night ... 5:30 am, 9:30 am, 1:30 pm, 5:30pm and last at 9:30 pm roughly, he put himself on this schedule, sometimes an hour +/- but usually these are his feeding times). And he is Formula only, Similac Sensitive. Probably no solids until 4 months, doctor isnt sure yet if he wants us starting at 4 or 6 months and we decided to follow what doctor wants for the most part concerning when to introduce foods.

.infinite-type to is genetic also. My mom is completely healty and a size 6 and got it when she was 40 but her dr said she couldn't avoid it cause both her parents and her sister have it. If it doesn't run in a family and someone gets it, it could be from being over weight.

rachie - diabetes is hereditary and usually skips a generation. My grandfather had it, so my sister has it. My great-grandfather had it and my mother has it. I avoided it. I haven't read the research on solids/diabetes. And I always forget which is which - type 1 is unavoidable and type 2 is avoidable, is that right? I have read info saying the earlier you start your babies on foods people are commonly allergic to, the better the chance they have of not being allergic. I don't know how true it is, but it's certainly interesting.

rachie83 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Karlee is 3 months tomorrow! See you ladies soon.

rachie83 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Kitty- probably not. My mom and I have horrid allergies but to different things

kitty79 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Question: do you guys know... if my mom was allergic to something does that raise Nickys chances of being allergic?

number1bubs - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Redding: I'm efb until 6mo. We will start with rice, because of my inability to digest gluten properly the pedi is concerned that Gray may have allergies or intolerances. LO will have no grains for the first year except for the ancient grains like quinoa.

kitty79 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Day two back at work much harder than day one. I can't stop bursting into tears. I just wanna be home with my baby!!!

shakes - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Redding - with my son i exclusively breast fed him until 6 months and then introduced solids at that time and with scarlett i will not be introducing solids to her until 6 months also. i figure if they dont need it, why bother?

rachie83 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Redding- yes I plan on waiting until she is 6 months. Dr's say studys have shown babies who have had solids before 6months are at higher risk for diabetes and since out of my immediate family which is my grandma, mom, aunt, and my 2 cousins all have it and I'm the only one who doesn't I will do anything to try to prevent me or Karlee from getting it. My grandmother had 4 siblings and some of them and their children and grand children have it also! Its so bad in my moms family. I'm thinking about giving her some of the cereal around 4 or 5 months, the dr said that's okay cause its so bland and basically has nothing in it.

redding2009 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Is anyone else here planning to delay all solids untill 6 months? Also, I plan on skipping the rice cereal altogether and feed her fruits and veggies as her first solids, like pureed banana and advacado. Anyone else?

erin1023 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Rachie---I don't add anyone from the facebook group as a personal friend but I did join the group...it doesnt show where you are and things like that on the group page, only if they are your personal friend on your main page thats why I dont add anyone on there like that.

shakes - Wednesday, 15 Feb

kitty79 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Rachie... hope karlee feels better soon.

kitty79 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
First day at work went ok. Missed Nicky like mad. Our babysitting situation needed to be reported though, my mom who was supposed to take weekly turns with my fil had surgery yesterday so fil has Nicky for whole month at least maybe longer... hopefully not too much for fil to handle....

rachie83 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Pap & number1- I think most people do the facebook thing but I'm not comfortable having people that are not close family and friends on mine because when u upload pics to facebook it can give a location where your at and I'm sorry but you just never know if someone on here could have a fake account. There are so many hackers out there you can't ever be safe enough. I only have about 60 people on my facebook and its all family or really close friends I don't even have co-workers on mine. Lol

number1bubs - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Rachie: I hope Karlee feels better soon.

number1bubs - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Pap: Facebook and I broke up several years ago. I think between valentines day and mommies in school and going back to work it's been a little quiet.

xolilangel785 - Wednesday, 15 Feb
Pap- I'm not on facebook that much.. I like being on here better.. I'm porbably the only one though lol =)

papapap - Wednesday, 15 Feb
It's really quiet on here. Is that because everyone has gone to Facebook?
