Your baby, 2 months

17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24

32 and older

2 months old During this month, your baby will smile, laugh and make many different kinds of noises. Talk to your baby and encourage him to continue making sounds. When you place your baby on his chest, he can lift his head and chest up. Give your baby a variety of toys that make different sounds, have different textures and light up. All of this will help to develop his senses.

Most babies will spit up at some point or another because of overfeeding or the lack of a mature digestive system. This is very common and is usually not a cause for concern. As long as your child is growing properly and the spit up does not cause him to choke, he is probably fine. More than likely, the spitting up will improve as your baby gets older.

Soon your baby will be rolling over, so it is time to start thinking safety! Avoid leaving your baby on changing tables, couches, countertops and other surfaces unattended. You never know when she will decide to roll for the first the first time.

Until your baby is four to six months old, there is no need to supplement his diet with water, juice or cereal. Some parents are tempted to put cereal into a baby's bottle to help them sleep longer-this is not recommended. Babies get all of the nutrition they need from breast milk or infant formula. Your baby has probably settled into more of a predictable feeding pattern. Most babies will drink about 5-6 ounces of formula or breast milk every 3-4 hours. Avoid giving your baby a bottle in his crib and do not prop the bottle while you are feeding him.

Because all babies have different temperaments, it should be understood that some babies are fussier than others. While some babies are quiet, calm and content most of the time, others are not. Some babies get fussy and aggrevated very easily and need more nurturing from their caregivers. If you use a pacifier, try to limit the amount of time you give it to your baby. Give it to your baby when he needs it for comort and avoid giving it to him when he is not fussy. Never hang the pacifier from his neck to avoid strangulation.

Your baby will learn from you and his environment. Make your baby feel secure and loved by responding to his needs promptly. This will help your baby build trust in you. Never yell, shake or hit your baby--even if you do get frustrated or upset. Doing so can seriously harm your baby and decrease the trust that he has in you.

erin1023 - Friday, 10 Feb
So when has every1 or when do you plan to, take the extra headrest piece out of LO's carseat??!? We had a headrest piece in his carseat that was 2 sizes, 1 for newborns and then 1 a little bigger and he is on the bigger 1 now but it is starting to seem like its tight, like I have to basically shove his head in there! lol...but then I tried taking it out a few weeks ago and ended up putting it back in because I just wasnt comfortable with how much his head bobbled around in there when we hit bumps in the car....I don't know what to do...it doesnt look comfy for him but Id take safety over comfort.

tashitash - Friday, 10 Feb
Thanks xo! I can't remember the other Thanksgiving baby either. But we all hung in there for awhile together! I will try to be on more often. :)

Mommy0811 - Friday, 10 Feb

rachie83 - Friday, 10 Feb
So I have to tell u guys what happened this morning..... the last week I've been feeling pregnant.. heartburn, nausea etc well when I was feeding karlee at 2:45 this morning I text hubby to get a test on his way home from work well when I get up to get ready for work keith has the test ready for me and I go to the bathroom to take it and he comes in there and is watching... (give me space!) Lol. Anyways I take it and go to set it on the counter and see its turning negative so I'm finishing my business and feeling better about all the weird symptoms and all the sudden keith screams out what the hell and I see him looking down at the test and I'm trying to grab it off the counter all freaked out and my heart pounding and I see its negative and he just starts craking up.... so not funny! I smacked him so hard!

I posted a little bit ago about how Damien hasn't been eating much (2 oz every few hours) and we gave him 4 oz this morning but my SO said that he spit ALOT of that up.. like it was coming out of his nose and stuff. Now I'm starting to get concerned.. if he has a stomach bug or something do you think that is why he can't keep much food down and is just not that hungry? He doesn't have diarrhea or anything and isn't crying more than usual like he's in pain or something. He has been extra clingy and doesn't want to be put down but I don't really think that has anything to do with it.. Anyone have any ideas?

shakes - Friday, 10 Feb
So my little chunker is 12 weeks today! Shell officially be three months next week. she is now 15lbs 4.5 ozs and 24.5 inches long!! whooaa fatty! to think she only started off at 7lbs 3 ozs and 20.5 inches! shes growing like a weed!

xolilangel785 - Friday, 10 Feb
Erin- Yea I don't bring him into the bed either.. He's always in the bassinet next to the bed so I dunno why I would think that either but it probably was from the cat. It was really scary though and it took me awhile to calm down! I'm glad I'm not the only one to have done it though lol

erin1023 - Friday, 10 Feb
XO---I have had something slightly similar...it was probably you thinking the cat was Damien because that is what happened to me too...I NEVER even bring Dakota in our bed so I don't know why I would think it was him or anything ..plus, he sleeps in his own room! lol..but for some reason I woke up 1 night an jumped outta bed and started like looking under the covers for Dakota!!...when I couldnt find him I peeked in his room and he was in the crib lol...I still am not sure if maybe Hubby moved and I thought it was the baby or what but I just woke with the strangest feeling that I had fallen asleep with Dakota in the bed and he got wrapped up under our blankets or something! Really strange!

xolilangel785 - Friday, 10 Feb
On another note I do have to share this because it's still freaking me out.. Wednesday night I woke up at some point (not sure the time) and my heart was beating a mile a minute, I was sweating and shaking.. I quick pusshed my cat off of me and snatched Damien out of the bassinet.. I didn't even check on him, I just grabbed him out.. but he was fine. It was really odd.. that never happened to me before.. I don't know if I was having a nightmare that something happpened to him and I woke up thinking something did so I quick grabbed him but I don't remember having a nightmare. My cat was laying like right next to my arm or on my arm (not quite sure because I quick pushed her off) so I don't know if for some reason I thought in my sleep that Damien was the cat and I fell asleep holding him or something (which I never do). Than part of me wonders if something was going to happen to Damien and that's why I quick grabbed him.. It was really weird and is still freaking me out. When I picked him up he was fine and he was sleeping. Has this ever happened to anyone else or am I just going crazy? lol

xolilangel785 - Friday, 10 Feb
Damien hasn't been feeling too good this week.. he would spit up alot after every feeding so we were only giving him 2 oz at a time because he would keep that down. I was starting to get concerned because he didn't seem as hungry.. he was content with just the 2 oz. We tried giving him 4 oz this morning so I'm hoping he keeps it down.. I think he's starting to feel better.

xolilangel785 - Friday, 10 Feb
Tash- Glad to see everything is going well! Your my fellow Thanksgiving day baby deliverer! LOL I can't remember who else delivered on Thanksgiving but there was someone else. Hope to see you around more often!

number1bubs - Thursday, 9 Feb
I have a brother and Mike has a sister. My Dad is 1 of 4 boys. He is the youngest. My Mom was an only child. I have 12 cousins, 8 boys 4 girls all of whom I see quite often even though we live up and down the Eastern Seaboard. I'm very close with both sets of grandparents. We don't see much of Mike's sister, her husband and her 6 yo twin boys. My MIL scared her own daughter off to Germany where her husband is currently stationed.. I do want to have more than 1 child even though my Mom was very happy as an only child. I look at my Dad's brothers and their families and think how great they have it with 3 - 5 kids each and all the grandchildren being born. Who knows we'll go for two and then maybe more.

rachie83 - Thursday, 9 Feb
Keith is one of 6 boys, he always wanted a big family. I'm surprised he changed his mind. But he may come around in a few years. If not karlee has lots of cousins and we have a group of friends (4couples) with lots of babies around her age that she will be close with.

kitty79 - Thursday, 9 Feb
I have two sisters and don't know what I would have done without them... I want that for Nicky. Hubby and I were just talking and I brought subject up. He is okay with trying once we pass the year mark... so I think that's what we will be doing.

rachie83 - Thursday, 9 Feb
Number1-it's very true I have an amazing relationship with my parents, we ave always been really close and we still are! They come to our house 3+ times a week, my mom is like my best friend and m a daddy's girl! It was nice not having to share them with siblings! Lol

number1bubs - Thursday, 9 Feb
Mommy: only breast milk here, but have expressed milk for hubby to feed LO once a day, and for 5 days after surgery.

Mommy0811 - Thursday, 9 Feb
So how many ladies are still exclusively breast feeding ( no bottles even with breast milk) radiance will be 12 wks on Sunday and she is still only had breast I'm proud I have been able to not use a bottle yet!!! I have pumped a few time's and I'm getting about 4 oz out of each boob and that's hand expressing I hate using my electric pump I'm thinking of buying a manual pump but I'm kinda think it's pointless since I hope to never use a bottle but I do want something on hand in case of an emergency..
