During this month, your baby will smile, laugh and make many different kinds of noises. Talk to your baby and encourage him to continue making sounds. When you place your baby on his chest, he can lift his head and chest up. Give your baby a variety of toys that make different sounds, have different textures and light up. All of this will help to develop his senses.
Most babies will spit up at some point or another because of overfeeding or the lack of a mature digestive system. This is very common and is usually not a cause for concern. As long as your child is growing properly and the spit up does not cause him to choke, he is probably fine. More than likely, the spitting up will improve as your baby gets older.
Soon your baby will be rolling over, so it is time to start thinking safety! Avoid leaving your baby on changing tables, couches, countertops and other surfaces unattended. You never know when she will decide to roll for the first the first time.
Until your baby is four to six months old, there is no need to supplement his diet with water, juice or cereal. Some parents are tempted to put cereal into a baby's bottle to help them sleep longer-this is not recommended. Babies get all of the nutrition they need from breast milk or infant formula. Your baby has probably settled into more of a predictable feeding pattern. Most babies will drink about 5-6 ounces of formula or breast milk every 3-4 hours. Avoid giving your baby a bottle in his crib and do not prop the bottle while you are feeding him.
Because all babies have different temperaments, it should be understood that some babies are fussier than others. While some babies are quiet, calm and content most of the time, others are not. Some babies get fussy and aggrevated very easily and need more nurturing from their caregivers. If you use a pacifier, try to limit the amount of time you give it to your baby. Give it to your baby when he needs it for comort and avoid giving it to him when he is not fussy. Never hang the pacifier from his neck to avoid strangulation.
Your baby will learn from you and his environment. Make your baby feel secure and loved by responding to his needs promptly. This will help your baby build trust in you. Never yell, shake or hit your baby--even if you do get frustrated or upset. Doing so can seriously harm your baby and decrease the trust that he has in you.

Madisons.Mommy-. Mine is on 4 oz. every 3 hours when awake. Sometimes she'll go 4 during the day and a long stretch of 5-6 hours at night. pukee - I had to take my baby through three different forumlas after I stopped BF before her system settled down. We are on a pre-digested formula (pricey), but seems to have made a world of difference. rose1003 - Still no period for me either (she turned 2 months yesterday) and I haven't BF in weeks. Wish it would come so I can start the pill.ymmfreshstart -

Madisonsmom - as long as your baby is growing and happy, don't worry about the number of oz she eats. My Danielle eats 4-5oz at a time, she will be 10wks tomorrow. It depends on the baby and how big they are.
Pukee - Danielle just started sleeping 3 hrs at night this week. She was getting up every 2 hrs to feed before that. As for the colic, please be aware that a lot of babies actually have a problem with a protein found in cows milk and will have the same symptoms as colic. If you are giving formula, I would switch to soy, if you are breast feeding, I would try cutting dairy from your diet for a few days and see if this helps. Also, I give my Danielle Mylacon and it makes a world of difference..-Madisons.Mommy-. -

armywife923: Yes you can start again and it is difficult. I would suggest getting in contact with deeyore486, she has lots of information. You can locate her several comments down on this same page. She was very encouraging to me and I know that she has helped several people. She can better tell you what to do so you can decide if this is for you or not. Best of luck to you. :)rose1003 -

I dont know if I really can start again. . . does anyone have any experience or information on this? Please comment back :)dancingtoast -

I sure hope it helps. I'm already broken up about being back at work. Yesterday Dad had to give them a bottle of formula because there wasn't enough to satisfy him. Not the end of the world but definately not my preference. Being a mother is such a great lesson in powerlessness. rosye13 -

mama - I didn't really have much trouble weaning. He would eat and then I gave him something to drink in a glass. The hardest part for him was not getting to at night. I would just let him sit in my lap to go to sleep. As long as he still had the closeness he was good.mamadear04 -

mama - some women get a period right away, others won't get one the entire time they nurse. I went a year without a period after my third was born, and I think I went about 1 1/2 years with my 4th. I nursed for over two years with my second. Just at night mainly once he was older. The doctor said it was best and my ex didn't want me to stop.mamadear04 -
