24 months old By this time, you and your child have established routines and bedtime should be an important time during the day for both you and your child. Bedtime is a great time to provide one on one, uninterrupted time to listen to your child and talk about their day. Establishing this as a nightly routine, your soothing voice will help your child get snuggled in and rest easily. You also are setting the stage for years to come, when your child wants to talk to you privately.

It is not unlikely to have noticed some changes in your child's appetite. One day she seems like she is starving and other days she hardly eats anything at all. Your toddler may also have distinct favorites. Although it is okay to continue to serve your child her favorite foods, remember to provide a vareity of healthy foods. Offer new foods frequently and although she may reject them at first, continue serving them to her. Eventually, she will try them and possibly surprise herself with a new favorite! Just because your child has rejected the food, does not mean she does not like it. Toddlers are often scared to try new foods. Do not make a fuss if she does not eat it, just serve it again. Always offer your child the same foods that the rest of the family is eating and avoid serving different meals.

Your curious toddler may be wondering about sex at this point. Although he does not need to know the details, it is okay to answer her questions about where babies come from and differences in girls and boys. You could tell your child that babies grow in a special place in a mommy's tummy. You may choose to tell your toddler that babies get here from both the mommy and daddy. Most of the time, your child will only ask a few questions and then their curiosity will be satisfied. Talking to your child now about these inevitable questions will make it easier for more in-depth questions later on. Teach your child the names of his/her genitals as you teach the rest of the body parts names. Do not worry if you find your child handling their genitals. It is normal for children to explore all of their body parts, genitals included, and they are finding out that it feels good. Try not to make your child feel `naughty` about this and possibly encourage them to explore in a private area-such as the bathroom or their bedroom.

Two year olds often bite, hit, pinch and kick other people. Most children will bite, hit, kick or pinch when they are angry or frustrated. When your toddler does this, tell her firmly, `No biting. Biting hurts.` Pull your child aside and explain to her that what she did hurts and that is is unacceptable. Never bite, hit, kick or pinch your child back. This will not stop the problem and it may teach your child that it is okay.

Talk with your child, rather than at him. He can understand what you say and most of the time will have interesting things to say back to you. Try to encourage your child to talk by using open-ended questions that he can comment on. Tell your child that what he said was interesting, funny or neat. Let him know that you value his opinions and thoughts.

Scarlet- I'm glad to hear that Aly is feeling better. Nothing scarier then when our babies aren't feeling well and we'll do anything to help. I also work for a physician and know several others in our community and I LOVE it. Our pediatrician gets Jack in at the drop of a hat and they just love him. Helps to know people, especially since he is in daycare and unfortunately is sick constantly. Sounds like you guys will have a wonderful party and she'll have a great time. Karen- as far as you all being sick, I hoe it passes quickly. If for some reason you are still not feeling 100% by party day- I would think you can just give the others a heads up and they can make the decision to attend or not. I know some people are a little more particular about germs they are around but I hope that everyone is able to come and enjoy the day. Good luck.

Morning ladies. 24 months... seems like only just yesterday that I was at the hospital about to give birth! 'And while some have called it the most meaningful experience of your life, to me it was something more akin to doing the splits on a crate of dynamite' - Lorelai Gilmore. lol I've always loved that quote but I cannot relate since I had c/s. But, I figured some of you girls know exactly how that might feel! hah!

I'm so excited for Aly's bday party. We aren't doing anything too big, a small Dora themed party. Some family and a few kids. Pizza, cupcakes and a bouncy house. We are getting Aly a little Dora the Explorer quad and a helmet so she can ride around. Our original thought was to get her a tricycle, but we have very little pavement and more dirt, gravel, sand on the property so this way she can ride around all over. The quad we got her is relatively small and will be good for her for at least a year and small enough to actually put in the car and take to the park or trails. As she gets older we will be upgrading her to a bigger, better quality quad. We also got a few outfits for her for summer, some sandals and I am thinking about getting her her first set of playdough.

My parents are getting her a tinkerbell toddler bed and we are storing her crib to convert later to the full bed... much, much later. I believe my MIL is getting her the big LOTSO bear from TS3. My brother (I think) is getting her a TS3 table and folding chairs. There are a few other gifts coming too. I can't wait!

On to other news... We had to take Aly to the ER for the very first time EVER, last night. She is OK now. Yesterday she started running a fever and it spiked a few times up to 103.5. Her pedi. told us to take her to the ER at 3am. Luckily, I work in a medical clinic where the dr. here is a ER specialist and since I do ALL his personal/work scheduling, I knew which hosp. he would be at and when. We went straight there and bypassed a 6 hour wait time and saw him right away. He checked her out, no infections and sent us back home. The whole thing lasted maybe 2 hours from the time we left to the time we got back. By the time we were home Aly's fever was down to 99. This morning it was still low and it hasn't spiked since. Ugh, I talk so much crap about my job, but this was truly a time where I was glad to know the attending doctor and get admitted right away. I never knew name dropping would come so easy to me. hah. I went right to the window and said I'm laura, I work for so and so and he's here now I need to see him right away. No questions asked, we got let in! Then, as soon as I saw him, the tears came! Not my proudest moment (or maybe it was) but, it was weird to have him see me that way... in retrospect. Anyway, I am rambling now. I am just glad Aly is feeling better. :)

Three days until my baby turns two. It's really starting to hit me. I didn't think I'd find it that big of a deal, but atm it feels huge.I'm very excited for our little celebration on Saturday, but all 3 of us seem to be coming down with colds - noooooooooo! We don't want to be sick this week! :-( If you were having a party with other kids, including 6m babies, and your fam all had colds, would you reschedule the party or host it anyway? I'm still so uncertain about the whole when to cancel / when to not worry about it thing. I'd really hate for us to get anyone else (esp any other kids) sick. Boo. :-(

karen (lb71) - Wednesday, 1 Feb

rubes and rls, don't forget to wipe breast milk on your nipples after nipples, it willhelp keep them moist, a natural antibiotic, and help ward off thrush. fyi, breast milk is also great for cradle cap and ecxema. it works much better tgen tthat store bought oibtment that can burn and it made mason refuse to nurse.cracked nipples hurt

rubes - Wednesday, 18 Jan
UGH just thinking back to the bleeding nipples makes me cringe lol It's midnight here, and Lilia is awake.... Eeeek. We had guests come to see Arun, and Lilia decided to fall off the bed.... So, we brought her into the living room for cuddles. Biggest mistake. EVER. Lol.

welcome back!! Lilmum boys rooms are suppose to look cute. LOL.. Things have been great from my side of the world, kids are sick so they take up all my time. Right now I have hunter in my lap. He's been in my arms pretty much all day. Going to make chicken and dumplings for dinner. Lilmum- I need some deer recipes hook me up please.

citymami - Wednesday, 18 Jan
how can you LOL at a bleeding nipple arrrghhh you're a breast feeding pro Ris just reading that made me quiver, perhaps it coz of the surgery I recently ha ha ha! It's important to try and see the nurse the same time everyday for your blood thinner and ask for a pair of surgical stockings and wear them all day, flex your foot with the heel on the ground toes pointing upwards, if it hurts to do that stretch then check for any discolouration... heamotologist told me that the single most imporant thing to do is get up, move, walk around which with 4 kids I'm sure you are!

rls- I♥mythreebabies - Wednesday, 18 Jan
Looks like our house sale is moving on okay, buyers have now had survey done and mortgage is approved :-) I really hope we can move some time in feb and give us a chance to settle in before I am back at work. Sebastain is slightly jaundiced today, but otherwise okay, my milk came in which should make feeding easier now too - so far only 1 bleeding nipple LOL

lilmum2002 - Wednesday, 18 Jan
I can't wait to see the boys room when it's all together, it is the prettiest blue I think I've ever seen and we painted all the trims and baseboards and doors white to match Zac's loft bed. It just looks sooo crisp and clean compared to the ugly pink flower border that was in there ha

lilmum2002 - Wednesday, 18 Jan
I wouldn't be able to inject myself ever that would totally creep me out! But my MIL would do it lol, she took care my FIL before he passed away from cancer so she used to do it for him. I still have my headache but it's not nearly as bad anymore, maybe the antibiotics are finally working. I've been super busy this week between fits from Zac and redoing the boys room. But Zac seems to coming around again since we discussed his anxiety about a kid in school so hopefully he'll be back on track to behaving like he was.

rls- I♥mythreebabies - Tuesday, 17 Jan
I'm here :-) (for katissas mums - hi I'm Rachel - uk mum if 4 - 2 girls (6 and 4) and 2 boys (2 and new) I work full time and hubby is a house husband - I am off for 3 months maternity leave now with this new one) just completed a 2hr feeding session - hope my milk comes in soon!!! Sebastian is doing well and I have been amazed how well jacob has taken to him - I expected some jealousy but so far, he just giggles and points when he see's him. I need to call my Drs tomorrow - I am supposed to inject my tummy everyday with dome blood thinner stuff (old mum + 4 children puts me in risk category for thrombosis apparently) but I just can't do it! I tried last night but everytime I looked at the needle and my tummy I felt sick and dizzy - am hoping I can just pop to see the nurse once a day and they can do it for me - feel such a wuss but I just can't inject myself!! Lil - hope your headache goes soon.

citymami - Tuesday, 17 Jan
KarissaAndMadisonsMommy I have one son, Anderson, I'd love another child but I don't have the financial or personal securirty right now so that will have to wait. However, I'm such a worrier I know there's NO WAY I could cope with more than two children, I take my hat off to all you ladies with many children :) How exciting to be pregnant again awww. I guess Rubes and Ris are away in new baby land...or are on 0 months page :P Lilmum you're still here right? lol I'm sorry you have a bad heed,I've heard any sinus type of pain can be v bad from friends that have had issues. I have a stinking cold and have that horrible congestion runny nose headache going on, bleugh hate colds.. they do make me feel sorry for myself lol

rls- I♥mythreebabies - Tuesday, 17 Jan
I'm never even try for the first month - the idea just freaks me out!!! I remember crying after Tabitha because I was so worried it would hurt (I had stitches after an episiotomy) and possibly even worse that I would be so stretched out that we wouldn't even notice if we were doing it or not!!

lilmum2002 - Monday, 16 Jan
Rubes I saw your comment in month 0 and I gotta tell ya STITCHES HURT and take forever to heal! I had tons with Zac and it took me over 3 months to have sex for the first time, and it was SOOOOOOOO painful. Also when I just had a small tear with Tyler it still took 3 weeks and use lots of lube when you do. I hope you and babies are doing good and that they behave for your birthday tomorrow (well today in UK)

lilmum2002 - Monday, 16 Jan
Well Citi I'm on day 12 of this stupid headache and I can't wait for it to be gone. I've been on medication now or 5 days for a 'sinus infection yet I am not getting any better. Karissa-- that's exciting, I'm Larissa and I have 3 kids, Zac(9) Tyler(4) and Kayla(2) Super- I say be thankful it isn't here and just enjoy it haha that's what I always do when I'm late lol

citymami - Monday, 16 Jan
KarissaandMadisonsmommy congratulations on your pregnancy, almost at the second trimester - exciting! Will you find out the sex?

citymami - Monday, 16 Jan
Day 17 that's a long time, it's funny because even though you know you're not pregnant a missing period can still leave you feeling unsettled. Maybe you just didn't ovulate this month for some reason. Lilmum how's your head. Ris and Rubes I've been checking out your baby boys on facebook and they're both so chubby and cute, what a blessing!! I hope I am able to have a brother or sister for Anderson when I achieve some security financially and personally! Bought some drops you mix with water derived from flowers that suppsedly help combat anxiety.. 'White chesnut' as I'm already nervous about the flight to NYC I book it tonight and expect to go in about 7 days... If the Queen Mary was going at this time of year Id be on it but it's in the Carribean I think lol having a night out with my girlfriends before I go, going to miss my mum so much, going to have to make some money fast so I can fly her out to NY...

rls- I♥mythreebabies - Monday, 16 Jan
Super - book a beach holiday then it's sure to come!

SuperMomTo3 - Monday, 16 Jan
