25 months old Surely, you have heard of the `Terrible Two's`. Two year olds can be trying and taxing, but they can also be exciting and loads of fun! Rather than looking at your two year old as `terrible`, try to see him as `terrific`-even on trying days! Both you and your child have come along way in just two short years! Look at how much you have taught your little one. He sure has learned a lot! Over the next year, you are going to need patience, awareness, firmness, love, humor and wonder. Parents need patience to deal with the many mood swings of a two year old, awareness to ensure that his surroundings are safe, firmness to make sure your child listens and follows directions and humor to laugh at yourself and your child. Love should be never ending and you should show your child love daily.

Immunizations should all be caught up at this point, at least for a few years. Regular check-ups with the doctor are important to keep your child healthy. Your pediatrician can often find problems before they become serious through well visits. Keep your child's health record in a safe spot so that it is easily accessible for day-care and schools.

Thumb sucking is a common behavior of children through age six. Thumb sucking is one way that your child has to soothe himself and he finds security in his thumb. As long as you do not pressure your child to stop, he will probably stop by himself. Parents are often worried about dental problems from thumb sucking. You do not need to worry about dental problems until the permanent teeth erupt, around five or six years old.

If your child has not yet shown an interest in toilet training, he probably will very soon. Providing a child-sized potty on the floor will give your child a start and make it easier for them to get started. Remember that toilet training takes time, patience and praise. Do not scold or punish for accidents. They happen. The majority of children will stop dirtying before they stop wetting. It is not uncommon for children to be daytime toilet trained for a while before becoming nigh time toilet trained. Occasionally, it may seem that your trained child has regressed. This is common when changes take place in the child's life-a new baby, a family move, visits from family, etc. Do not start toilet training until your child shows signs that he is ready. The process will go smoother for everyone involved!

Interact with your child as much as possible. Take every opportunity that you can to teach your child about a variety of things. Be a teacher for child-you will be amazed how quickly children pick up on new skills. Read to your child often and talk about the images on each page. Most importantly, take time to have fun with your energetic two year old!

mason is 35 inches, 28 1/2 lbs. Anderson is just testosterone overflowed boy.nothing is unusual about his behavior your hubby doesn't know wjat he is talking about. Rubesthis site is always giving u problems, would make me mad. anyone else have to fight to get their toddlers teeth brushed? it is such an ordeal. if I get his teeth once a day then I'm doing great.

rls- I♥mythreebabies - Thursday, 9 Feb
J is 30lbs (was weighed today on his 2 yr review), he did good - was an ace with the jigsaw. His speech is a bit behind (he has only just started combining words) so they agreed we could contact them if we had further concerns, but I'm not too worried as I can hear progress over the weeks, and he is keen to try new words. They won't do anything until he is 3 or 4 anyway. He is also 90cm tall - which makes him 75 percentile for weight and height :-)

lilias favourite phrase is no mummy, go away mummy, doff (get off) mummy and i busy, mummy. all phrases usually translate as 'im getting myself into trouble, mummy' lol

I've spent the day changing beds, sorting toys and dressing up outfits but mostly sat feeding, feeding and a bit more feeding!! On the good news side - I signed contracts today for selling the house - if nothing goes wrong before exchange is contracts (imminent) then we might even get moved this month!! :-)

lilmum2002 - Thursday, 9 Feb
Had a nice morning at the gym with a friend, it felt so nice to just get out and talk to someone other then the kids and David. I came home to tell him about our speech therapy next week and he informs me he's spending Tuesday to go get a bumper for the truck and then go visit a friend, he totally had no idea that it'll be Valentine's day.

amanda1101 - Thursday, 9 Feb
Oh and he loves to say 'No mommy' when I ask him to do something lol. Sighh..not even teenagera yet and they are already talking hack. Jacob repeats everything. In fact the other night he heard his daddy say 'asshole' and he repeated ot. I about died. We really have to watch what we say lmao.

amanda1101 - Thursday, 9 Feb
Wow Jacob only weighs 25 lbs. He used to be a chunky little boy but when he started walking...it all fell off of him. Now he is thin and never sits still. He was on soymilk as whole milk caused him to have bad exczema. He seems ok with 2% milk so we have been giving him that. I hope he will start to gain weight again steadily like he was. Jacob is starting to really talk in sentences. I love this age :)

lilmum2002 - Thursday, 9 Feb
Kayla isn't so much willful as she is saucy lol She loves to tell us 'no' now that she's learned the word. She's trying to say a few more things now but I'm probably one of the only people who understands any of it. David can be very inpatient too, he was an only child and I had two siblings plus my step brother came when I was about 13 David doesn't understand the sibling dynamic like when they argue over something small and stuff, he'll get used to it though I'm sure.

Hey everyone your alcoholism stories are scary, but I have a few weed related ones, whether it's drink, or weed it has to be in moderation or you're in big trouble is all I can say on that. Anderson has finally kept food down, I think we've made the turn around, knock on wood that was I think 7 or 8 days of puking, some nasty stomach flu, apparently a few people in the building had it, my hubz got it, and ER said there were more kids coming in with gastroenteritis than respiratory stuff of late, crazy. It's made me think twice about putting Anderson in day care when I work, there's an older experienced woman in the building we may ask to look after him in our apartment, and maybe I will have him in nursery for an afternoon for the socialization aspect which I want badly for him since he doesn't have brothers or sisters or even cousins close by. Food, Anderson normally is a great eater though the sickness bug shaved 5lbs off him so he's gone from about 40lbs to 34lbsish! Right now I haven't dared offer milk again, and he's just on flavoured water, water and then he's had me wrapped around his finger today eating toast, jam, chocolate digestives, jaffa cakes, mini croissants by the dozen , saltine crackers....and well you get the picture! Usually he eats his biggest meal at lunch, it would be lasagne, meat balls in bolognaise sauce, spagghetti, braised beef and vegetables, mince beef hot pot and vegetables, sausage and swede/carrot mash. sometimes roast chicken, rice, sweet platains, or brown rice with finely chopped beef and finely chopped salad (grated carot and a few cucumbers, some tomatoes).. I guess our dinner is Anderson's lighter/'lunch' type meal I give him a small pot of heinz baked beans and a small slice of toast, or a small portion of heinz spagghetti hoops and toast, or a pastelito, pasti, or a ham and cheese croissant lightly toasted...I also sometimes make boiled egg, beans and rice and mix it all up.He always follows lunch and dinner with two small fromage frais pots. For breakfast it's always usually a warm bowl of porridge made with whole milk and maple syrup with cooked banana slices on top, mid morning he will sometimes take a slice of toast when I finally get my coffee. I also still give up to two cups of whole milk daily usually. Normally he doesn't get any snacks like cookies, crackers, cakes or chips unless I desperately need to distract him, I keep cookies in the house for that reason and take them out with me sometimes just in case. I never keep chips in the house (more because I'd just eat them all) but I may buy them if we're going to the doctors. Anderson's very tough to handle right now but I think it's because he's 2!!! I mean he will bang his head off any floor if he doesn't get his way, it's tough taking him to the park because he refuse to leave and the bigger he gets the tougher the wrestling match is at the end, he has to be thrown into his stroller because there's no way he'll walk out of there and he screams the place down and sobs a good few blocks. Recently I've had to restrain him on the bed at bedtime, I use my legs to make him lie down while he screams. Gosh that sounds horrible but this is after bath, a nice drink, sometimes a cookie after bath, we read lots of books, then he's throwing himself around on the bed, he's off the bed running round in our dark studio...this went on until almost 11pm the other night, so now after being restrained he's getting the idea not to try it on because mommy's not playing! My husband tried to say there was something wrong with him because he doesn't listen, but he's just wilful, strong and very determined and yes he gets it from his Dad!!! Men, they don't have the patience...I tried to explain to my husband that until Anderson's speech is at a more sophisticated level I cannot effectively implement the 'if you don't do this then you don't get that' style of discipline...soon but not yet. We have not smacked Anderson and due to the thugs on this block in Harlem I'd like to keep it that way. He's so strong! I've lost count of the amount of times I've been head butted by that heavy head of his!

mybabysuprise - Wednesday, 8 Feb

Amanda1101 - Wednesday, 8 Feb
We are more dinner people too and he will eat whatever I make for dinner usually. We usually have spaghetti, Steak, Chicken, side of potatoes or rice and veggies. I just feel like he gets the same thing for lunch almost everyday lol. I have a found a few new ideas online for snacks and lunch though so I will try those.

Amanda1101 - Wednesday, 8 Feb
Rubes- I don't think Lilia has adhd lol. That is just an average 2 year old. They never sit still haha. Jacob goes and goes all day long. Never sits to play with one thing for more than a few minutes.

rls- I♥mythreebabies - Wednesday, 8 Feb
J has his 2 yr check tomorrow. Cooking is boisteous but fun - I never try and do it with them if I am in a rush!!

Pregnant and Gorgeous - Wednesday, 8 Feb
We're more dinner people, so lunch is basic. We tend to have cheese sandwiches (toasted or not), sometimes with a chicken roll slice thrown in, salad. Packet of crisps and some fruit. Sometimes pizza (I buy a cheese and tomato one and pack it full of veg at home), followed by fruit. We're usually have very basic lunches. Tuna pasta salad, tuna mayo rice. Basic stuff. If I let Lilia help me cook, the world would end. Lol. She's too active. Mohsen wants us to look into ADHD (I personally think she's just boistrous and over active) and ASD coz his son is autistic and Lilia is supper smart, he wants us to look into that too (I guess he's paranoid). My new health visitor wants us to bring Lilia in for a 2 yr check, so I gues we'll raise our questions then.

rls- I♥mythreebabies - Wednesday, 8 Feb
Amanda - for lunch we tend to have cheese and crackers or sandwiches (ham or cheese), for tea we all eat as a family and it's the same meal for everyone and it's anything from fish pie, curry, roasts, pasta etc. I try to do a new recipe every couple of weeks so that we all try new things. So far mine are pretty unfussy - m is not keen on fish and t&j don't like mushrooms but pretty much anything else goes in without too much fuss! I also try to get them involved in cooking as I think that helps, j helped make smootie lollys today and he made jam tarts yesterday (he did surprisingly well as makin the pastry!). He loves cooking, so do the girls.

Amanda1101 - Wednesday, 8 Feb
oh and he also likes Whole wheat pasta with marinara sauce.

Amanda1101 - Wednesday, 8 Feb
What do you ladies feed your toddlers for lunch? I feel like he is stuck eating the same thing all the time. We do grilled cheese, pb and j sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, veggies, chicken nuggets, or mini pizzas. He is very picky and I am trying to get him to eat healthier foods.
