Surely, you have heard of the `Terrible Two's`. Two year olds can be trying and taxing, but they can also be exciting and loads of fun! Rather than looking at your two year old as `terrible`, try to see him as `terrific`-even on trying days! Both you and your child have come along way in just two short years! Look at how much you have taught your little one. He sure has learned a lot! Over the next year, you are going to need patience, awareness, firmness, love, humor and wonder. Parents need patience to deal with the many mood swings of a two year old, awareness to ensure that his surroundings are safe, firmness to make sure your child listens and follows directions and humor to laugh at yourself and your child. Love should be never ending and you should show your child love daily.
Immunizations should all be caught up at this point, at least for a few years. Regular check-ups with the doctor are important to keep your child healthy. Your pediatrician can often find problems before they become serious through well visits. Keep your child's health record in a safe spot so that it is easily accessible for day-care and schools.
Thumb sucking is a common behavior of children through age six. Thumb sucking is one way that your child has to soothe himself and he finds security in his thumb. As long as you do not pressure your child to stop, he will probably stop by himself. Parents are often worried about dental problems from thumb sucking. You do not need to worry about dental problems until the permanent teeth erupt, around five or six years old.
If your child has not yet shown an interest in toilet training, he probably will very soon. Providing a child-sized potty on the floor will give your child a start and make it easier for them to get started. Remember that toilet training takes time, patience and praise. Do not scold or punish for accidents. They happen. The majority of children will stop dirtying before they stop wetting. It is not uncommon for children to be daytime toilet trained for a while before becoming nigh time toilet trained. Occasionally, it may seem that your trained child has regressed. This is common when changes take place in the child's life-a new baby, a family move, visits from family, etc. Do not start toilet training until your child shows signs that he is ready. The process will go smoother for everyone involved!
Interact with your child as much as possible. Take every opportunity that you can to teach your child about a variety of things. Be a teacher for child-you will be amazed how quickly children pick up on new skills. Read to your child often and talk about the images on each page. Most importantly, take time to have fun with your energetic two year old!

Lilmum, did tge break rejuvenate you? Super, will Hunter be out of the cast when you leave? I guess I will need to ut Mason in a bigboy bed before I pottu train him.potty training sounds so hard.mybabysuprise -

rubes, I come from a family with a lot of alcoholics. it is realy tough to stay clean and even tougher on the family todeal with the drunk. wow-you got a lot to deal with. I really don't understanld why social services can't leave you a lone at least while he is in the hospital. I'm so angry for you and Arun that the lazy dr wint treat him unril he suffers enough to lose weight. I guess the pros of having Mason's expensive health insurance is that I can take him to any dr I want when the one I am seeing isn't doing a good job.lots of drs just dismiss womens complaints so I would lose my mind in your situation. rls- I♥mythreebabies -

We had Matildas first speach therapy session today, they tested her again and she has made improvements since her first review a month or two ago :-) still work to do so we now have a weekly session booked for four weeks and daily homework - they think this may be enough to get her to the right stage for her age. All in all a good day :-) rls- I♥mythreebabies -

Rubes - if he has lost weight at least they will do something then, if not then at least you can be reassured it's not affecting his growth. I think in general they like to stay clear of medications - not useful in your situation but everything has a potential side effect etc. Seb is due to be reviewed again after 6 weeks - I kind of expect to be told to stop the meds unless his breathing issues start again. Dr sears had an interesting article on reflux. Seb seems to benefit from being in a sling a lot, close contact and uptight position - not great for my back but at least it means I can still do some stuff with the other three. I hope your hubby manages to crack the drinking prob this time - fingers crossed for you both!lilmum2002 -

I am super jealous of you Rls although sometimes it can be a bit of a pain to be training with a newborn. Kayla is really starting to dislike being wet yet still is terrified of the toilet. They came home today and the two littles have a slight temperature and are whiny as all get out. Kayla was crying basically all afternoon. But they are in bed now and sleeping so hopefully that lasts and that they don't get whatever else is seeming to go around. My brothers girlfriends' little girl seems to have something similar to Anderson but they told her that it was just the flu. I hope all our little guys get better soon and that the spring comes quickly for all the sickness to go away.lilmum2002 -

Wow congrats on the training!!! Lilia had been sitting on the potty or toilet since she was about 16-18 months old, asking to go, etc. She even pulls down her pants when she needs to go. But she has yet to actually go on the loo lol Super, I bet youre excited!!!! Well, today's been better. I also spke to my health visiting team. They will not (I repeat: WILL NOT) do anything for his vomiting/discomfort (wouldnt you be in discomfort if you puked every second of every day????????????) unless her looses weight or doesnt gain according. They are coming to weigh him tomorrow (health visitor was a presumtious bitch who thought Lilia had been taken away from me when shes actually visiting the grandparents). So I'll know more tomorrow. I rung up social services coz I was well pissed they were snooping around a health visitor Id only met once and told them to contact the GP who has known me since I was 8 years old (I havent officially changed him yet either) and that surgery's health visiting team. The social worker told me that they werent concerned in anyway about my ability to run house and kids, and that the kids are well looked after, loved, me and lilia have an amazing relationship, etc. They are concerned about Mohsens mental health. Hmmm. His ex has been mentally ill since 2004, yet only had social services involved since 2010. Mohsen was declared mentally ill 20010. Such a biased, bigotted, sexist world we live in. If it has happened to me, I guarantee they wouldn't be involved. Anyways, Mohsen wont be out of hospital for another week maybe??? They have him on a drug designed to help with alcoholism but it makes you VERY sick when you drink on it, so they wanted to keep him in til his withdrawal started to affect him less and for the drug to take affect. I told him (I mean it this time) that if he doesnt quit and get better and get those bastards off my back Ill have to walk away for me and my kids sake. Well, one can hope he doesnt have another relapse. I'm done with the relapses, the remorse, the depression coz he relapsed, the drinking coz hes depressed, ya ya ya. It's tiring!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the vent, but I know you guys wont judge me or anything so I offload here. :)SuperMomTo3 -

congrats on the no strep!!! Also to you to for the potty training. You're going to have to give me some tips. The only reason why I am allowing myself to go is because my mom is going to watch my kids. She is the only person I trust. I know she will take care of them like I do if not better. I don't trust anybody else like I do her. I don't even trust my MIL with my kids for more than a day. mybabysuprise -

wooohooo, Mason does not have strep. another sinus infection though. I am just really needing to gethim out of daycarerls- I♥mythreebabies -

Second poo and wee in the potty - woooo wooooo - I do believe he had the idea :-) now its just practice and bribery (he gets a little sweetie for doing something in the potty) to keep the momentum. mybabysuprise -

congrats RLS. I couldn't take a week away from Mason. I am sure if I were with him more and had more kids then I would feel different. I think part of it is that I don't think anyone else would take care of him the same way or have patience when he wakes every hour to be rocked because he feels crappy. I think he would go crazy without me for a week too. He is addicted to my hair.He holds it and sucks his thumb to go to sleep or relax. I bet you have a great time Super. I am amazed the couple times since I had Mason that I have gone to the movies without him how I feel like a person again instead of just Mason's mom. It is like I was me in a different world and am not me anymore, just Mason's mom now. So much time taken to care for his illnesses. All I do is work and take care of him. I am not complainaning but I do envy your going for adult time. I bet you have a great time.SuperMomTo3 -

I was felt pretty special that he asked me to go with him. He never ask me to go with him. I am counting down the days. Luckily Hunter will have his cast off the day before I drop him off at my moms. I just hope he doesn't cause to much trouble while I'm gone. I really want to start potty training him now. rls- I♥mythreebabies -

Rubes and City, I am so sorry. That is how I spend most of my time with Mason. Glued to the recliner and rocking him. Unable to move, work, read, nothing. Holding your pee is a regular for me. When I am in danger of peeing myself. I have had to carry him to the bathroom with me, let him sreeam and then pick him up immediatly. I am so sorry you both are going though this. Yes, City I am working as I own my own business now and I am so backed up in work it is crazy. Everytime Mason gets sick, it sets me back very far. I'm taking him to dr tomorrow because he isn't sleeping or eating again and is congested and breathing hard. He will get allergy tested again on Thurs also. When my business takes off more, I am going to get a sitter to come work at my office so my assistant and I can take our kids to work. I hope Mason will get healthier when I get him out of daycare. He is still going to UNC for a biopsy anmnd PCD testing. I am still praying that he doesn't have it but he has lots of the symptoms so I am a little scared. City, Anderson has been sick for a long time. Can you get him in to see a gastrointolgist?

You can tell im fatigued by my bad spelling lol poor anderson. Its trying, but those memories are the nicest. At 3 pm without fail, Lilia will crawl between my legs on the sofa and fall asleep lol I end up stuck there, her tween my legs, baby on my chest, both fast asleep. I should start going for a wee at 1450 but i never learn lolPregnant and Gorgeous -

City, I thought that you could walk into any dr's surgery and get seen and then they'd bill the one you are registered at. My dr told me this a few yrs ago when I first moved into London (I never learn lol) and hadn't yet changed drs and came down with a very bad UTI that ended up with me being unable to walk. Mohsen's getting a few hrs leave from the hospital tomorrow coz I told him if he don't get himself out the nut house and give me a damn hand Ill end up in one lol so he wrangled himself 3 hours home-visit. Hopefully they'll discharge him tomorrow. His problem is alcohol, they know it, I know it, he knows it. Stick him in a rehab, not a stupid phyciatric ward!!! He's gone to two AA meetings now. That's more progress then he's made in 5 years. :) I'm so tired. One more day like this and I might sleep into a coma to recouperate!!!citymami -

newborns get priority no matter what idiot receptionist should have arranged for doctor to come out to you Rubes, sure its possible with GP - I was given on the spot maternity care when I showed up in UK unregistered when my Dad was dying (doctor visiting my dad wrote me a prescription). Call stupid woman back and say he's vulnerable newborn you feel hes not right and that he cannot wait. The health visitor should certainly be able to pop in at the very least. UK GP receptionists invariably are jumped up clueless idiots worried about navigating bureaucracy and stressing about it, to the detriment of patients, they should pay them more so there could be some intelligent people running the front desk who can handle things when it gets busy. Anderson is sleeping on me, hes so cranky :( I tried to move but he went right into tantrum mode...i need a wee and a cup of tea lol Wish this illness he got would sling its hook it's so hard to tell if theyre in pain or just cranky through lack of quality sleep/food! rls- I♥mythreebabies -

I think seb was taken so seriously because if the stopping breathing and having no other symptoms if reflux (these are now developing!). So they were worried it was neurological. All I can suggest rubes is you lead on the breathing issues, they will be taken more seriously than possetting/vomiting. It took my sil ages to get my nephew diagnosed with reflux, but once she saw a consultant she got good care. Keep pushing it rubesSuperMomTo3 -

awee. hope you enjoy your day of quietness. I'm pretty excited too. On the 24th of this month I'm dropping all three kids off at my moms. Then on the 25th I'm jumping on an airplane with my loving husband and for a week I'm going to be in San Fransico. He is going to a conference for that week so the other guy is taking his wife who I just love, and I get to hang out with her all day. No kids for 7 days and hanging out with friends all day and going to parties all night. Doesn't get any better.. Besides maybe sitting in Mexico. lol..Pregnant and Gorgeous -
