Surely, you have heard of the `Terrible Two's`. Two year olds can be trying and taxing, but they can also be exciting and loads of fun! Rather than looking at your two year old as `terrible`, try to see him as `terrific`-even on trying days! Both you and your child have come along way in just two short years! Look at how much you have taught your little one. He sure has learned a lot! Over the next year, you are going to need patience, awareness, firmness, love, humor and wonder. Parents need patience to deal with the many mood swings of a two year old, awareness to ensure that his surroundings are safe, firmness to make sure your child listens and follows directions and humor to laugh at yourself and your child. Love should be never ending and you should show your child love daily.
Immunizations should all be caught up at this point, at least for a few years. Regular check-ups with the doctor are important to keep your child healthy. Your pediatrician can often find problems before they become serious through well visits. Keep your child's health record in a safe spot so that it is easily accessible for day-care and schools.
Thumb sucking is a common behavior of children through age six. Thumb sucking is one way that your child has to soothe himself and he finds security in his thumb. As long as you do not pressure your child to stop, he will probably stop by himself. Parents are often worried about dental problems from thumb sucking. You do not need to worry about dental problems until the permanent teeth erupt, around five or six years old.
If your child has not yet shown an interest in toilet training, he probably will very soon. Providing a child-sized potty on the floor will give your child a start and make it easier for them to get started. Remember that toilet training takes time, patience and praise. Do not scold or punish for accidents. They happen. The majority of children will stop dirtying before they stop wetting. It is not uncommon for children to be daytime toilet trained for a while before becoming nigh time toilet trained. Occasionally, it may seem that your trained child has regressed. This is common when changes take place in the child's life-a new baby, a family move, visits from family, etc. Do not start toilet training until your child shows signs that he is ready. The process will go smoother for everyone involved!
Interact with your child as much as possible. Take every opportunity that you can to teach your child about a variety of things. Be a teacher for child-you will be amazed how quickly children pick up on new skills. Read to your child often and talk about the images on each page. Most importantly, take time to have fun with your energetic two year old!

I htink I'm goign to go with the Minera, i actually NEED the hormones, or I go loopy. The hormones keep my prozac levels down to 20 mg vs the 50 I was on when I wasn't on bc or pregnant. Please tell me I don't need this milky way sitting beside me! And mean it! lol Amy, here's a hug! And Kel, how long did it take for Saige to grow out of her tummy issues?tabatha -

Hugs to all you ladies! Tired, irritable, sick kids suck. Ali- you always make me realize why I love y'all so much. No way 'in real life' would anyone I know, myself included, ask a friend about her lady bits. Except maybe my sister and my best friend. I guess we've spent years in this group (has it been 3?) talking about blood, vomit, pee, poop, (sometimes ours, sometimes not) sex, other bodily functions that its n big deal here haha love it.amyeliz -

So we took Saige to the dermatologist doc and I actually have a ray of sun shine. I think he has finally found an answer to her skin. He says some of it is eczema and some of it is psoriasis. He put her on a med for both. So now she has been pretty good for the past few days and you can see a marked difference in her attitude for the better. Dawson on the other had is still pretty colic and acid reflux is no better on Zantac. But the doc pretty much says as long as he is 50% better that she is happy with that. OK? Why don't you come and spend the day with him then. If hes awake he is fussing. Piont blank. Very few times is he very happy. So I guess I'm just going to sit back a wait for him to grow out of the tummy problems like Saige did. I tell you ladies not that I would ever take back having my son now. But because of my daughter I really didn't want another child. I didn't want to go through it again. However although it is very hard. I'm better at dealing with it this time so it seems a little easier. This time around I'm alot stronger. But I'm glad this will be the last child I have to watch go through this. It's hard on both of us. chases-momma -

I have a paragard. My periods have been pretty much normal, a day longer and a bit heavier. I ahve bad cramps now, vs NONE before, but nothing some tylenol cant handle. I didn't want the mirena, because I need the reassurance of a period. I don't think I could handle it! Plus...no hormones is mas freaking bueno.anon -

o-m-g@ali!! i was on the rag for like 12 days..the doc said it was normal..and that it should ease up, but it might not..seriously? i'm used to 5 day periods..for that one day i was having to change a super plus tampon every 20 mins..dumb man doc just smiled and nodded..fsake? seriously..if i continue with days like that i will have to stay confined in my home hovering over the crapper. he did say that if the clots stayed that large to come in because i could become anemic..would have to check my iron. i'm praying it lets up..he said give it at least 4 months.chases-momma -

Amy, the only thing that gets Jimmy down is rocking in our office chair. Not the glider, he doesn't like how smooth it is.He likes the abruptness of the office chair. This thing has been saving my life! He is taking his long nap now, how he is when he gets up in usually a good indication of the rest of the day. I'm scurd...hold me.

So Brandon was home and is already gone again. :( This sucks. He promised Anna he would be back in time to do bedtime stories. I hope he knows that she understands what he just promised... because if he isn't home by 8 she is going to be sooo sad and asking for him. I was supposed to go grocery shopping by myself but thats not happening either. I was going to just take her with but after the last two days and the meltdown she just had with him leaving... I'm gonna go with no. Maybe I'll just hit up the 24 hour Wal-Mart late tonight. Oh and random, but Anna's now in love with the show Word World. Her cousin loves it and shes watched it before, but now shes absolutely in LOVE with it.ady-and-maylies-momma -

Oh poor Ali (and super poor jim too!) I hope that it helps. Poor little guy. Maylie had a little reflux up till about 3 months ago but the docs wouldn't do anything about it because she was still gaining weight. I hope that you guys cut a break soon!annas-momma -

Oh and of course the first thing she asked for this morning when she got up was for chocolate milk. No way. Chocolate milk before Momma gets her coffee is just asking for trouble...... I don't need her bouncing off the walls before 10am.annas-momma -

Ooooh dear, Ali! I really hope the Zantac helps. Like Tab said, Jim really is a trooper for hanging in there. Anna and I both have little runny noses, but the weather hasn't changed here in Florida much at all. Once we take our trip up north, I know she and I will both sound like Gabe. Our family is like yours... the weather change ALWAYS makes us sick. Even Brandon. Speaking of, he got home this morning at 9. Yay! He is watching The Little Mermaid with Anna... because I just can't handle watching it a billionth time. He was going to take her swimming, but at 9am it was already over 80 degrees outside. I hate Florida... too hot. Anna was up before 6. I heard her in the livingroom whimpering, 'Momma! Momma!' I asked her what was wrong and she just said, 'Iz dark.' No shit. Its not even 6am. Go to bed. Of course she didn't. Yahoo for the Early Risers Club. We should have jackets.amyeliz -

i woke up his morning to the sounds of, what sounded like, lindsey lohan screaming 'mooooooooooooma, help..george'..then i realized it was gabe..gesh..he sounds like a two pack a day smoker, y'all..i think he's getting sick..its this weather changing..we always seem to get ill when this happens..suck suck suck. he won't eat breakfast and is rolling around in the floor..at least it hasn't affected nugget yet. he seems happy thus far.chases-momma -

Wow. Looks like everyone is having good days. I came home from work last night and Jim was in tears. Jimmy cried ALL day. Literally. Jim's nerves were totally shot, I felt so bad for him. He was out in the yard playing T-Ball with Chase and just trying so hard not to cry. So I loaded Jimmy up in the car and we went to the Dr. Ears are fine, blah blah blah. Why can't my kids ever have anything with a direct remedy? So our Dr thinks that it still reflux. He was diagnosed with really mild reflux as a newborn (colicy as hell), and she thinks that over time his throat and whatnot have been getting more and more irritated. He's not sleeping, he's not happy unless he is in your face (and upright). So we are bak on Zantac to see if it makes a difference. I no likey.amyeliz -

I'm right there with you all on the talking back thing. I was talking to Ady saying that she couldn't play with Maylies diaper rash cream because it was medicine and would get all over...and she looked at me with her squinted eyes and said, 'well, tough' GREEEAAAAAATTTTTT!!!!!!!!
