Many children will enrol in some kind of preschool around this age in their life. When choosing a preschool for your child, ask questions beforehand to ensure a good fit. There are many different kinds of preschool. Some schools meet all day, every day. Others meet two, three, four or even five days a week-half day or full day. Find out what your child will be learning. Will they be playing all day long or are there actual structured preschool lessons provided? Plan to visit the preschool before you enrol your child and see what goes on in the classroom at various times throughout the day. Do the teachers seem to genuinely care about the children in their care? How do the other children respond to the teachers and each other? Is the classroom fun, bright and welcoming? Look at the toys and see if they are in good shape and proper for your child to play with.
Make sure that your child is current on all immunizations. State laws require children to be up to date on vaccinations before entering into any type of child care center, preschool or even kindergarten. If your child does not have the necessary vaccinations, call your child's doctor to schedule them. Vaccinations protect your child and other people from getting serious diseases that once killed many people.
Children need to learn how to solve problems early on. By others teaching us how to do things, we have learned how to solve problems, keep problems from arising and fix things when they are broken. Help your child learn how to solve problems and fix things. The way that they will be able to do these types of things as an adult is influenced by how well they were taught as a small child.
Around this time in your child's life, you might notice that he is resistant to affection. Your once cuddly and loveable toddler does not want to be hugged and kissed anymore. Try not to take it personally and never force your child to accept your affection or hug/kiss you. It is not that your child is rejecting you, or your love, he is rejecting having his physical freedom limited. Continue to offer your child hugs and kisses.
Many children get frustrated when they are doing something difficult. Often times, kids take on much more than they can physically or mentally handle. Allowing your child to have some frustration and work through it, is a way to help her gain self esteem and develop problem solving skills. However, if you notice that your child is in distress, you can help her figure out a solution to her problem. Select her toys properly and keep in mind what she is capable of doing. By providing a can-do environment, you can help your child eliminate frustration. Provide a step stool for your child to wash her hands or brush her teeth. Buy your child Velcro sneakers so that she can close them on her own, rather than tripping on the shoelaces. Do not add to his frustration by criticizing him when he fails or expecting things that are not realistic. If your child wants to try again, let him. However, when he wants to quit, let him.

Hi Ladies! Been forever! My little guy is so big now, I cant believe it. His vocabulary is extensive! He says full on sentences and can tell me exactly what he wants, how he wants it and when he wants it. He is such a little bossy boy! He tells all the kids in daycare what to do! He is the little leader. He has suddenly started hitting, CHOKING! and biting kids again. His dad and I broke up about 6 months ago and he is with him and his aunt, uncle and their 2 kids on the weekends. The older kids taught him to play choke (which I am VERY unhappy about) and rough house. He has slept through the night now for a couple months (though still co sleeping). He had his own bed and room when his father and I were together but now that it is just me and him, I let him sleep with me, I dont mind for now. His father is a SOB though, seriously, he pays 200/month for child support and refuses to pay half of daycare so we are going back to court. As for sippy cups, he has not been using them for almost a year now! Never used a pacifier (thank G*d!) and potty training is not going well because his father is not on board. I have Joseph during the week but will have him Saturdays as well starting January (at his fathers request) so I will really get him going on potty training once I have him 6 days a week. Anyways, thats the scoop for now! Happy Thanksgiving, hope you all have wonderful holidays with your little ones! Feel free to add me on FB! donkeycarpet@yahoo.com (lol, dont ask)tarabell -

Hi ladies! Hope you are all well! I haven't been on in probably 6mths (when my son Clayton was born). i am about to start pushing potty training for sleeptime since we are good w/ awake time but I feel like being able to go in diapers at night is starting to confuse things. Any suggestions??? For those beginnig I revommend getting a potty (ours is from Ikea) to keep in the car. Way better than having to use a public one & great for quick last minute stops. And we had lots of sucess w/ 'Where's the Poop?' book.jennfinn411 -

That is great that Wyatt is doing so well through the night! We tried potty training quite a few times before but Lex wasn't ready. We recently got him a new potty though and it looks like a toliet, with the handle to 'flush' and a place to put a roll of toliet paper on the side. He has been doing much better with this one instead of his other one which I think is because its in the shape of a frog and he thought it was a toy and couldn't get over the fact it was a potty! Lol. He only used it once and then always just wanted to play with it and now he puts it in his toybox when he picks up his toys! Haha. But he takes his diaper off and sits on the new potty and uses it and doesn't try to pee all over himself and the sofa and laugh about it. Today he had to poop for the first time while he didn't have anything on (we've been letting him run naked) and he freaked out! Started pooping while standing in the middle of the living room and yelling for me. So I rushed him over to the potty but it was too late. Lol. I just think he started going and didn't know what to do and couldn't stop. Lol. Poor baby. Because he did start screaming for me while he was in the middle of goingjamiee -

Hello ladies. I check once in awhile. It has actually been quite a bit since I was last on. I had my little girl Adalyn on Feb 16. Ava is a great big sister. She is potty trained during waking hours. I don't push night time because I only need one kid getting my out of bed. Randomly she will wake up and ask to go. Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well. jamiee -

moment - Wyatt was doing really well a couple of months ago and then stopped. There were a LOT of changes so we never pushed the issue and figured we would start up again when we could really commit to it. He actually told us he was ready before we even started again. We used to make a big deal when WE were going to use the potty to show him that everyone does it. Then he decided he wanted to. We gave small rewards just for trying so he knew he didnt have to go, he just had to sit on the potty. we did that for awhile before he would go. He is finally to the point where he tells us before he has to go. Hes doing REALLY well to the point that he is filling up sticker charts way fast and we are trying to take more time between rewards! Something small for going (the sticker) and then accumulating more and more stickers to get a reward. We save the special stickers for #2 so hes REALLY excited when he goes. I guess my advice is just to wait until he takes the lead. sassyscissors(Tracy) -

OMG! Speaking of potty training, I am wondering if anyone can give advice? A few months ago, we were to the point where Colin was asking to sit on the potty. He rarely used it, but he wanted to go and was trying.. so we thought we would let daycare take over and try there for more help. Well, the first day, his teacher said he refused to go to the potty and cried when she tried. This happened for two days, so she said she was going to stop for a little while because she didn't want to scar him or anything. Ever since then, he REFUSES to go. I just don't get it.. he was asking to go. I have tried candy (BADDD idea haha), stickers, sticker charts, toys, and I even let him go pick a NEW potty seat and underwear. I have pretty much stopped for the time being because I am hoping one day it will just click with him again. I just don't get it, though. Any advice?aluehring -

jamiee. I can't believe Riley is almost one either. IT goes buy so much faster. I am sad that my baby is growing so fast. I am getting the baby itch again. so many of my friends are preggo right now. I am jealouse. My hubby says no more babies for us. I say lets see how we feel in another year.
Tyler is not showing any intrest in potty training right now. I just figure with the baby it is taking a little longer.jamiee -

Potty training is going well... he goes all the time and is JUST starting to tell us when he has to go, he has never done that before. We stopped with treats and use a sticker chart now. When he fills up the chart we go to either the bookstore or the dollarstore both of which he loves. He understands the connection between pottying and being rewarded now so its going way easier. When it gets warmer out we are going to stop with diapers and go to regular underwear when we are at home. In a month or two he will definitely be ready for that. Cant WAIT to be done with diapers!!!jamiee -

As for pacis...we opted to not take them away and just see how it plays out. One day at daycare during naptime he just didnt ask for it and they didnt give it to him (a couple of weeks ago). As of that day he doesnt use one in the car either. At home he has two in his bed and he always leaves them there and never even asks for them anymore. Cant believe it! I was never a fan of making him upset and taking them away and then it was just one day he stopped caring!! He still sleeps with it but its a huge accomplishment him no longer asking for it all the time. My boy is growing up!! Sad fact, but true!jamiee -

Wyatt moved up to the 2 1/2 year old room at daycare so no more sippy cups, they only use cups in there. Since he will only drink water (his choice not ours) we only ever use a real cup, water bottle if we are out. For milk, he HAS to have it in a Gerber sippy cup. He wont even consider it any other way so at night he gets that. If he wants it during the day he has to have it in a cup but he will ALWAYS refuse. Weird. momentfrozenintime -

I can't believe how big the babies are now! That is, the ones after our 30 month olds. Feels like they were just born! --- Are there are LOs on cups full time? Colin is working on it.. I guess it is easier just to use sippy cups. He uses regular cups all the time, but he can't walk around with them, and he is a drinker.. so we are still using sippy cups.jamiee -

I keep checking, just not every day! Larkyn and Parker are getting along really well and now it's great that they have someone to play with. Although as I type that she just stole something from him, lol. He's big enough to protect himself now! He's talking like crazy and starting to make sentences. I've started going to the gym and the kids are going to the daycare there for a couple of hours. They've gotten sick a LOT since going, but it's also giving them a chance to play with other kids and socialize. The main lady at the gym keeps telling me how much she loves my kids and how well behaved they are. We tend to take it for granted until we see them around other kids, but they really are awesome! And very sweet, but only when they want to be. They give each other good night kisses now and it's just too cute!momentfrozenintime -

HI Ladies ... have not been able to post for a looooong time... too busy at work and home ... Question for all : Are your babies talking clearly yet.. like long sentences and all? Our little girl has been great on motor skills. She started walking and running very early .. feeds herself very well and etc. But as to speech, she speaks single words or maybe 5-6 words sentences well (not too fast).. but otherwise if she has to speak fast, she talks gibberish! Is it like that with ur LO?? leighsamarie -
