Many children will enrol in some kind of preschool around this age in their life. When choosing a preschool for your child, ask questions beforehand to ensure a good fit. There are many different kinds of preschool. Some schools meet all day, every day. Others meet two, three, four or even five days a week-half day or full day. Find out what your child will be learning. Will they be playing all day long or are there actual structured preschool lessons provided? Plan to visit the preschool before you enrol your child and see what goes on in the classroom at various times throughout the day. Do the teachers seem to genuinely care about the children in their care? How do the other children respond to the teachers and each other? Is the classroom fun, bright and welcoming? Look at the toys and see if they are in good shape and proper for your child to play with.
Make sure that your child is current on all immunizations. State laws require children to be up to date on vaccinations before entering into any type of child care center, preschool or even kindergarten. If your child does not have the necessary vaccinations, call your child's doctor to schedule them. Vaccinations protect your child and other people from getting serious diseases that once killed many people.
Children need to learn how to solve problems early on. By others teaching us how to do things, we have learned how to solve problems, keep problems from arising and fix things when they are broken. Help your child learn how to solve problems and fix things. The way that they will be able to do these types of things as an adult is influenced by how well they were taught as a small child.
Around this time in your child's life, you might notice that he is resistant to affection. Your once cuddly and loveable toddler does not want to be hugged and kissed anymore. Try not to take it personally and never force your child to accept your affection or hug/kiss you. It is not that your child is rejecting you, or your love, he is rejecting having his physical freedom limited. Continue to offer your child hugs and kisses.
Many children get frustrated when they are doing something difficult. Often times, kids take on much more than they can physically or mentally handle. Allowing your child to have some frustration and work through it, is a way to help her gain self esteem and develop problem solving skills. However, if you notice that your child is in distress, you can help her figure out a solution to her problem. Select her toys properly and keep in mind what she is capable of doing. By providing a can-do environment, you can help your child eliminate frustration. Provide a step stool for your child to wash her hands or brush her teeth. Buy your child Velcro sneakers so that she can close them on her own, rather than tripping on the shoelaces. Do not add to his frustration by criticizing him when he fails or expecting things that are not realistic. If your child wants to try again, let him. However, when he wants to quit, let him.

So excited, I am going to start photography clsses next month, and I was asked to teach Photoshop in a few classes. YAY. I figured what lens I am going to purchase thanks to the owners help. I am going to purchase a used lens, which is over 1300, for only 550.00. Sweet. I loved the lens, it was awesome and takes absolutely sharp photos. Now I have to wait until November 17 to purchase it because our bills our due the first of the month. AHHHH, always something to push it back a week or two. Darn, but so excited. Baby Jaidalynn -

Good news. The hives are going away. They are bruising again on her lower half of her body. She is off of the Prenizolene. She is just on the antihistamines. Also, she stayed dry through the night last night. She has been staying dry during the day for a while. We carved the pumpkin last night. She loved it. She insisted on cleaning it out by herself. I posted pics and a video on myspace. I can't post on here because my photobucket is over full. Does anyone know of another place to upload so I can post on here?Melanie07 -

AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!! The hives are back again. She woke up this morning with them again. I am going to try and wait it out this time and see if they go away on their own. The dermatologist said they should go away on their own with the antihistamines. So, we are giving her those and watching her. This is so frustrating. They come back worse each time.Melanie07 -

We were lucky and someone canceled. We went to see the dermatologist today. He was glad I had taken picks of each stage. He said with the time line of everything, it had to be an allergic reaction to her antibiotic. He said that even when you stop a med, it can stay in your system for a couple weeks. He said she bruised because her hives were so bad. He said he would not have put her on steroids so quickly. He said with the second batch because of the severity, he would have. He agrees it is not a good thing to be on them during this season because it suppresses the immune system so much. He said to keep her on Claritin and Atarax. He said we can stop the tagement. SHe just finished the steroid last night. So far, her hives are still gone. He said if the come back and do not go away, then it is because of regular allergies. He said I would have to get her allergy tested. He said not to worry about the bruising unless it did not go away. It said if it did not clear up then it is a different underlying problem. He was very good about making sure I understood everything. That is what I was hoping my pedi would have done. I am glad she is ok. I just hope she does not have anymore problems. Her hives were awful. I thought it was a bad rash at first. Everyone who sees the pics freak out because of how bad it looked. Plus, it cam on extremely fast both times. I am just glad everything is ok for now.Baby Jaidalynn -

Mel keep me posted on how she is doing. You are right it's not good to keep her on steroids that long. Maybe another dr can check her. I tried getting j-dee in a dermontolgist once and never was able too. Hopefully you'll get better luck than I did. I never kenw what caused J-dee's rash she got. Melanie07 -

I am really annoyed with the pedi. He did not run any tests. He just looked at her and checked her breathing. We still have no idea what is causing the hives and bruising. I was able to get her fit into an appointment with a dermatologist on Tues. I do not like her being on the steroid for so long. It suppresses her immune system. That is definitely not good right now. We are trying to keep her at home as much as possible while she is on these meds.Melanie07 -

Please pray for Ashley. The docs called and said that she is not having an allergic reaction. They said it is possibly a disease. We have another appointment fist thing in the morning. I am extremely worried. The bruising is horrible looking. Hopefully they can figure out what is wrong with her and are able to make her better.Melanie07 -

Ashley rash is hives. She started with it on Friday. It went away with meds. As soon as she finished the meds, it came back worse. Now the hives are about gone again with meds but, they are now leaving bruises. I am waiting to here back from the docs office to find out if this is normal or something else. I am very worried because they do not know what is causing it. She is acting fine but looks horrible.margysd -

Hi, I just had my second daughter, Aislin on Thursday. My first daughter, Elsa is 16 months. Elsa and I have always had a strong and special bond. Since the birth, I have tried to involve and love Elsa as much as I can. I want to show her that I love her the same, I am just making some adjustments in our schedule which has changed because my time is now divided between her and our newborn.
I have noticed some acting out on Elsa’s part and I am not sure how to handle it. We have tried to reassure Elsa how much she is loved and spend a lot of personal time with her one-on-one with both Paul and myself. I think she is acting out because she has realized that her position and role is changing, most notable is her new role as a big sister.
I was wondering if any of you have had experience with adjustment issues with closely spaced siblings and what strategies you employed to maintain the bond with the oldest while introducing and bonding the with youngest sibling and if this is a normal adjustment phase that works itself out in time. Please post messages to my page. Thanks so much.

I had t take Ash to the doc today. She woke up with a really strange rash. She had red blotches all over her body. Come to find out, She is allergic to the antibiotic she has been on for a sinus infection. Poor thing had to get a shot of steroid and a prescription for both steroids and a antihistamine. They also took blood to make sure it was not viral. After the shot, the rash started lightening up before we left the doc. After taking the prescription, it is clearing up even more. Thankfully it is helping the reaction. The doc said that the sinus infection is completely gone so she does not need to start a new antibiotic. I am dreading the side effects of the meds. I just finished a round of antibiotics and steroids for a sinus/ear infection. It is a major pain.
I went to the doc myself yesterday and found out the inside of my ears are super sensitive. They are having the same reactions as a skin allergy. It is crazy. Just proves again that I am not normal. LOLBaby Jaidalynn -

Well, T is officially 19 as of 4:20 this morning. I can not believe it. Now, if I can just convince her to start taking some responsibility, it would be great. It seems when they get their license, their brains disappear. She is driving me completely insane.Melanie07 -

Hopefully everything is ok luckymommy. I know how scary it can be. Ash has spots show up on her brain on an early US and her heart did not look right. Luckily the spots disappeared and the heart was fine. It was very scary. Hopefully yours will be nothing too.luckymommy -

On a good note, I won another American Girl doll and tickets to the tea party/fashion show. T has always wanted one of these dolls. She originally wanted Samantha but the retired her last year. So, she said she wanted either Felicity or the new doll Rebbecca. Well, She ended up getting Rebbecca. All the other mom's that won got Carrissa. T has been taking her doll everywhere. I am taking both her and Ash to the tea party/fashion show. Tabatha is so excited. I had made a matching doll dress for Ashley's doll. Now T wants one for hers. LOL Ashley's doll is being retired this year.Melanie07 -
