31 months old Your child will most likely show an interest in other special adults. Of course, you are still your child's number one, but other adults that are special to her make her world interesting, special and fun. Encourage your child to develop strong relationships with grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and other special adults. Your child needs these special relationships and every one of those people has something different that they can teach your child.

Your child can probably say his full name well now. Language is quickly developing and your child is learning about fifty new words each and every month. Your child is able to make four or five word sentences. Rather than speaking in third person, your child now says `I` instead of his name when he is talking about himself.

Have you noticed that your little one is beginning to tell fibs? Your child is beginning to learn the difference between reality and make-beleive. Sometimes this may come across as lying. Although your child does not realize he is lying and often makes up things that are not correct, he needs you to teach him right from wrong. When your child tells you something that is not true, make sure understands that he is telling a story. Tell him that you do not like when he tells you things that are not true and avoid calling him a liar.

Your child has probably had a developmental assessment to check his development. Assessments compare your child's level of developmental achievement with other children of similar age and abilities. Even though each child is different, young children learn and develop new skills at approximately the same age. Assessments allow you and your child's doctor to recognize problems early and treat them early. Gross motor and fine motor skills will be assessed, as will self-help skills, social, emotional, cognitive and language development.

Even young children can begin helping around the house. Give your child responsiblities and simple chores that he can accomplish on his own. Your child is capable of putting his own toys away, putting dirty clothes in the hamper, unloading clothes from the dryer, unpacking and putting away unbreakable groceries, dusting, setting the table and making his bed. Let your child help you sort the laundry into whites vs. colored clothes. You can also let your child help with simple dinner preparation and gardening.

Hello where is everybody? it's been awhile since I've posted here. My lil' guy is doing great... talking lots, being funny. We still have issues with bedtime though, he just does not want to go to bed but once he's sleeping it's hard to wake him up. He is still not potty trained, I bought him undies but he just went in them and says he doesn't want the potty. I just have to keep trying but not forcing, he'll get it soon enough. He is sooo good with his little sister, he loves her so much and is always telling me that he loves her and hugging her, always wants to hold her. Such a sweet boy!!

ElliottnDeclans-mummy -its the concept that they believe that their losing or leaving a part of themself in the potty. Try pretending a stuff animal has gone 2 in the potty praise the stuff animal give it a sticker. Have your son take the stuff animal and put it on the toliet. Keep it up and look for clues for having to go number 2 and have your son sit on the potty and read to him, give him stickers, praise him, and tell him that if he goes at least once everyday then at the end of the week he gets a something special.(example- new coloring book, new book, toy, chuck e cheese) Thats all i got. Good luck

My LO tells all kinds of stories. He cracks us up! He says sentences that are 10-15 words long. Like, he will say 'You get no tv today mama cause I am mad cause I got shots today!' LOL

How well does your LO talk? My son has over 100 words in his vocab. He is potty trained and everything!! :)

Mums who have successfully potty trained I REALLY need your advice. We are still having big trouble getting Elliott to go number 2. 3 weeks into potty training all wee's and poops were on the potty, but somewhere something went wrong and now he is literally terrified to go number 2 in his potty sometimes he is even scared to go in his pull up. Last week I literally had to cuddle him while he went as he was crying and so frightened. I have checked his bum and there is no bleeding or sign of a tear or anything so that's not the problem and his poops aren't hard (sorry if TMI) so don't think they are hurting him. Spoke to Marty about it as he started screaming for the party earlier saying he wanted a poo but when I put him on he didn't do anything and I've said I am going to ring the health visitor tomorrow and she might prescribe a laxative to help him, I don't know what else to do. I don't think he is constipated as he does want to go, but I don't know what else to do, I just hate seeing him upset like this

Its at www.niagarababy.ca First register at the site (this takes less than a minute), then click the 'view the entries' link. My son is the little boy having a bath in the giant yellow duck. Glad to hear it! I'm getting some stuff done today as well. Dinner is cooking and I have the dishes running. Laundry is all set up to run after the dishwasher stops.
