7 months old Your baby is becoming more interested in playing and can entertain himself for a little while on the floor. Encourage him to play by giving him stimulating and interesting toys. Your baby may enjoy an exersaucer or jumper, and this will help him develop muscles that are needed for walking. Many babies take off crawling at this age! When he begins to rock back and forth on his hands and knees, crawling is soon to come! If he is not yet up on his hands and knees, encourage him by placing favorite toys in front of him. Praise his accomplishments and if he begins to get frustrated, stop.

Organzing baby's toys can be a challenge. You need to find somewhere to safely store her toys so that they are easily accesible, but also easy to clean up. Low shelves can be great- make sure they are secured to the wall. A plastic laundry basket makes an ideal place for toys. Your baby can easily see what is inside and it moves from place to place easily. Make her play area interesting and encourage her to play with different toys to maximize learning. Babies at this age like toys that fit inside of each other- get her some nesting cups or a bowl with objects that can go inside.

Finger foods are good for babies that show an interest in feeding themselves. You can get special finger foods made just for babies or use cheerios as well. Bread, cheese and cooked veggies are all good choices. Put a couple on the highchair at a time. This will also help your baby develop fine motor skills. Let your baby help feed himself with less messy foods. At first, it can be messy. But, this is one of the many ways you can teach your baby to be independent. She probably has some teeth and sometimes snacking can help soothe the pain. It is also time to add some types of protein to her diet. You can add strained or pureed meats and poultry, but wait on eggs until atleast a year old.

New sounds will continue to come from your baby's mouth. She is learning different sounds and can say alot more. Listen to her and repeat her `words`. Point to objects and tell her what they are. Use a persons name when she sees them. Babies like to hear different sounds and will probably bang their toys together. Allow her to play with toys that make sounds.

Your baby likes to be included in what you do. He likes to be with other people and see pictures of other babies. Let him look at himself in the mirror often. Your baby can tell if someone is happy or upset by the way they look and talk. If you are upset, chances are your baby will notice.

You may begin to hear what sounds like real words. Your baby has learned alot about language and can say ma, mi, da, di, ba and bi. Put that together, and you may have just hear `mommy` or `daddy`. Make a game out of blowing air and clicking your tongue. These will help her with learning to talk. Teach your baby where her body parts are. You can show your baby different colors and tell him what they are.

Your baby's eyes are developing rapidly. When she was born, she could not see very far or differentiate colors. That is all changing now. Take her for walks and let her see as much as possible. Introduce her to different patterns, shapes, textures and colors. Play games with her that encourage her to use both eyes at the same time.

Because you are the most important thing to your baby, she will try to keep track of you. Separation anxiety is still an issue, but showing her that you will return will help. Calming your baby's distress will help her become less clingy. She will develop a sense of trust and security. As your baby grows and learns that you will always return for him, he will be able to tolerate longer perids of separation because of the trust he developed.

amanda220 - Wednesday, 1 Feb
Oh my goodness, I'm so happy yalls lo's do it too! I had never saw another baby do it! Lol

wowwee - Wednesday, 1 Feb
Yeh mine does too!!! Shabs did your lo tooth come through?

shabs78 - Tuesday, 31 Jan
Amanda - I was wondering the same thing! My lo looks like she's trying to screw a lightbulb in some times, lol at others exactly like conducting an orchestra! I tried google but couldn't come up with anything...

amanda220 - Tuesday, 31 Jan
Does anyone else's LO move their hands in an odd fashion? I don't really know how to describe it but when Ava gets excited she shakes her hands, almost as if conducting music, around at the wrist?

wowwee - Monday, 30 Jan
Put lo in own room in cot at 4 months. He out grew his Moses basket and there wasn't enough room in our room for cot so he went in own room and took to it really well. I check him all the time and thought at first oh no this is horrible but actually it's quite nice having own room back!!

amanda220 - Monday, 30 Jan
Shabs - the day I felt it, within 24 hrs it had broken the gums. Should be fast! And also Ava sleeps in her crib in her own room. We moved her from a rocker sleeper thing to her own crib around 3 months. She does well in her crib in her room.

shabs78 - Sunday, 29 Jan
Ahhhhhh..... sameera has a tooth coming through! Can feel something sharp coming through on the bottom and she's biting on anything and everything. Oh my baby is growing too fast :( makes me a little sad. Anyone know how long it takes from here, I can feel it but can't really see it yet?

amanda220 - Sunday, 29 Jan
Avas woken up at least twice a night since birth, yes. She doesn't eat very well during the day. Never has. So when she wakes up during the night we feed her. She doesn't fight the bottle like she does during the day and I feel like I need to since she doesnt eat much during the day. I am so mentally and physical drained but I don't know what to do about it. She needs to eat! And Ava has both of her bottom two teeth. She didn't fuss at all, they just showed up, one right after the other...

shabs78 - Sunday, 29 Jan
No teeth yet either, but she's chewing down on anything, especially paper, she loves paper! Lol. Sameera is still getting up atleast once during the night but I give her a quick bf and put her straight back down in her cot and she's staying there which is good. Anyone still got their cots in with you? I just can't imagine putting her in her own room yet, I feel mean! Lol. I'm prbly just being too soft. At what age roughly should they be in their own rooms?

wowwee - Sunday, 29 Jan
Amanda has your baby had multiple night feeds since birth? U must be shattered!!! Why does your girl wake? My lo has no teeth still, have your babies got teeth now?

Amanda220 - Sunday, 29 Jan
I am so jealous of one night feed. :( lol.

shabs78 - Sunday, 29 Jan
Oh no wowwee :( have u tried giving a 'dream feed'? That did work quite well for me, I would gently take lo out of her cot and give her a bottle with about 60ml milk in it, she would usually drink atleast 40-50ml and go straight back to sleep. Come to think of it, not sure why I stopped doing that coz I think it stopped her waking up atleast for one of her feeds!

wowwee - Sunday, 29 Jan
Groan :( lil man woke at 3 again but..... Hubby did the feed!!! First time in months woop woop!!!!

Amanda220 - Saturday, 28 Jan
I'm 170ish too. :-( granted I'm not trying too hard to lose the weight. I really need to start! By the time I get home it's 5 pm and I have to go pick up Ava and come home and there's so much to do and by the time Ava goes to sleep around 9, I'm done! I'm ready to jump in bed! Terrible, I need to get better about this...

wowwee - Saturday, 28 Jan
Shabs i know how you feel I'm 12 and half stone 172lbs!!!!! I cannot fit into prepreg clothes and am so wobbly!!! I too have been cutting down on food and doing lots of walking ( uphills too!) and an excersize DVD couple times a week and not looking any better. I need to work on arms and belly desperatly!!

shabs78 - Saturday, 28 Jan
Amazing how much sleep can do for us huh?! Anyone else struggling witth weight loss? My lo is past seven months and for the last couple of months i've been really watching my diet and i do an hours non stop cardio circuit training 4-5 days a week plus one session with a personal trainer and guess what - i haven't even lost a centimeter or even a kilogram! im still in my pregnancy clothes. im getting so down about it. cant believe im working so hard and nothing to show for it. im still 14kgs past what i used to be. Im thinking that the Mirena might have something to do with it, anyone else have experience with this? Or any ideas what could be the reason im not losing anything at all??

wowwee - Saturday, 28 Jan
Thank you for making me feel better. I had best night last night put lo in bed at 8 and he woke at 6:30!!!!! Woop woop!!!!

Amanda220 - Friday, 27 Jan
Wowwee I honestly wouldn't worry about your LO gaining weight. I dont think four 7 oz bottles sounds like too much at all...

Amanda220 - Friday, 27 Jan
I haven't had a full nights sleep since I got pregnant! Ava still wakes twice on a good night! She sometimes wakes up 3-4 times. And I have to get up at 5:45 for work and teach junior high kids math! I am so drained. I wish I could stay at home with my baby girl... Even though she wakes us up all night, she's still such a dream. She's so full of energy! Tires me out before she tires herself out! :)

wowwee - Friday, 27 Jan
He hasnt needed a night feed since 10 weeks old!! He has 3 meals a day and was havin 3 7oz bottles too butnow he's having 4 which seems way to much now and I dnt want him getting fat!!!!! I was up 12 to cuddle 3:15 to feed and again at 6:30!!! He was so angry as well the cry was awful. How can I stop this? He's never been one to sleep during day as he slept so well I didn't mind but I certainly do now!!!

shabs78 - Thursday, 26 Jan
Wowwee, I hope ur lo doesn't do what my lil angel did and start waking up twice a night just through habit. Very very difficult to break that pattern, I'm just starting to get a couple of good nights sleep and that's since November! You know through my posts what vie been through :) is ur lo on solids? Sameera is on three solid meals a day, plus four 4-5 oz bottles of formula plus I'll do one or two b feeds (but think those are just comfort sucks). She's getting good sleeping on her own at night, just not the day sleeps but I can live with that.

*jensen-lottie* - Thursday, 26 Jan
Well my little lottie is 7.5 months old now and is growing so fast..she is now fully weaned and will eat anything her favourite meal is salmon, swede & carrots mixed together...she has been sitting up unaided for well over a month now...she can't crawl and hates being on her stomach but if something is just out of reach she will shuffle bum to reach it, I think if she realised she was moving when she does it she would be off lol...she still hasn't got any teeth yet she is my little gummy bear :) she will wave bye to people now and it's so cute just waiting for her to start saying mama and dada but she will do it one day x

wowwee - Wednesday, 25 Jan
Thanks Shabs I was feelin so disheartened. Doesn't help being tired lil man has now decided he needs me to get him to sleep and he likes to see me a couple of times during the night to rock and sing to him!!! Argh he was always so good before so why has he started this up this week?

shabs78 - Wednesday, 25 Jan
Wowwee, my lo isn't doing any of that either! The only thing my baby girl does do is eat - she loves her solids! Other than that all she does is roll, I don't think she's anywhere near crawling let alone standing. Don't think it's anything we are doing, think every baby develops at their own pace? All in good time I say :) about having another, omg I'm waiting atleast two-three years before even thinking about it! Lol. I just want to enjoy her as much as I can before going through it all again. That way hopefully I vcan enjoy no2 just as much!

wowwee - Wednesday, 25 Jan
Wow crawling, pulling to stand, sleeping through night, has 2 teeth. Am i not doing enough for my baby because he can't do these things or is he just slow and I should worry?
