Your baby is becoming more interested in playing and can entertain himself for a little while on the floor. Encourage him to play by giving him stimulating and interesting toys. Your baby may enjoy an exersaucer or jumper, and this will help him develop muscles that are needed for walking. Many babies take off crawling at this age! When he begins to rock back and forth on his hands and knees, crawling is soon to come! If he is not yet up on his hands and knees, encourage him by placing favorite toys in front of him. Praise his accomplishments and if he begins to get frustrated, stop.
Organzing baby's toys can be a challenge. You need to find somewhere to safely store her toys so that they are easily accesible, but also easy to clean up. Low shelves can be great- make sure they are secured to the wall. A plastic laundry basket makes an ideal place for toys. Your baby can easily see what is inside and it moves from place to place easily. Make her play area interesting and encourage her to play with different toys to maximize learning. Babies at this age like toys that fit inside of each other- get her some nesting cups or a bowl with objects that can go inside.
Finger foods are good for babies that show an interest in feeding themselves. You can get special finger foods made just for babies or use cheerios as well. Bread, cheese and cooked veggies are all good choices. Put a couple on the highchair at a time. This will also help your baby develop fine motor skills. Let your baby help feed himself with less messy foods. At first, it can be messy. But, this is one of the many ways you can teach your baby to be independent. She probably has some teeth and sometimes snacking can help soothe the pain. It is also time to add some types of protein to her diet. You can add strained or pureed meats and poultry, but wait on eggs until atleast a year old.
New sounds will continue to come from your baby's mouth. She is learning different sounds and can say alot more. Listen to her and repeat her `words`. Point to objects and tell her what they are. Use a persons name when she sees them. Babies like to hear different sounds and will probably bang their toys together. Allow her to play with toys that make sounds.
Your baby likes to be included in what you do. He likes to be with other people and see pictures of other babies. Let him look at himself in the mirror often. Your baby can tell if someone is happy or upset by the way they look and talk. If you are upset, chances are your baby will notice.
You may begin to hear what sounds like real words. Your baby has learned alot about language and can say ma, mi, da, di, ba and bi. Put that together, and you may have just hear `mommy` or `daddy`. Make a game out of blowing air and clicking your tongue. These will help her with learning to talk. Teach your baby where her body parts are. You can show your baby different colors and tell him what they are.
Your baby's eyes are developing rapidly. When she was born, she could not see very far or differentiate colors. That is all changing now. Take her for walks and let her see as much as possible. Introduce her to different patterns, shapes, textures and colors. Play games with her that encourage her to use both eyes at the same time.
Because you are the most important thing to your baby, she will try to keep track of you. Separation anxiety is still an issue, but showing her that you will return will help. Calming your baby's distress will help her become less clingy. She will develop a sense of trust and security. As your baby grows and learns that you will always return for him, he will be able to tolerate longer perids of separation because of the trust he developed.

My husband and his sister were EBF until they were 9 months old and my MIL said that neither of them had teeth until they were weaned at 9 months. I have even heard of babies not getting teeth until they were like 1 year old...in fact I think my grandmother told me she didn't get them until then. Hudson has his 2 bottom teeth and I read somewhere that they are supposed to get their two fronth top teeth in like 4-6 weeks after. Well, we're getting pretty close to the four week mark and his top gums are swollen, but don't really show any sign of cutting through yet. I am glad I weaned when I did though, because that last night I BF him he bit me...and that was the end of that!Mama 2 a Rockstar -

As far as the baby food thing goes.... I feed Koi stage 2 and 3 depending on which food items they are. I get some chunks, but they aren't anything to worry about. Although babies can have up to 6 teeth, these aren't even the teeth they use to chew with so I wouldn't worry about it. Koi doesn't have any teeth and it doesn't look like he's getting any either, LOL.... But he still eats the Gerber Puffs, Yogurt Melts, and those Gerber Puff Cheeto looking things. And although I don't like to give him my table food (too many spices and preservatives), he can chew very well. He'll probably get table food for Thanksgiving, LOL!!!ash070658 -

So this was a few months ago but HUGGIES USERS: dd ya'll notice that the amount of diapers went down from 72count to 64 and the price went up! What a rip off!At least it did for size 4 size 3 still has a big box. I think its so unfair that the bigger size diaper the less u get but its the same price b/c my lo is just bigger but still goes through the same amount as he did in smaller sizes!chloesmommy -

carterscutie85... I make my own baby food, I do not blend it very good though and leave it a little bit chunky... She is able to chew and in fact she loves to chew... I also give her some homemade cookies and she loves to bite them... I think that it depends on your LO, but I will try to introduce chunkier stuff little by little...Beluga -

Has anyone noticed how much baby food has changed in the past 10 years? It seems like there is way less variety now than 10 years ago when I used to feed it to my neices and nephews. Here it seems like u can't get like just peaches or just pears, they have to be mixed with something if it's the jarred kind, you can get them w/o being mixed with anything if u want to spend more for the container but if u want to save money by buying the jars they are always mixed with something else. Has anyone gave their baby stage 3 foods yet? I know they have pieces for them to chew, are the pieces really big? I bought a few jars of the broccoli only because my son LOVES broccoli and the store I was at only had it in stage 3, not stage 2. Walmart carries the stage 2 broccoli but they are super far away..I was thinking maybe if I mashed the pieces really good maybe he would be OK eating stage 3? He has 2 teeth and does try to chew so idk..if this works I am definitely buying more stage 3 of the brccoli, my kid just goes crazy for broccoli! LOl!!teilvnav -

I still BF and got my period back at 4 months PP. It is way easier than it was before I got pregnant, though... shorter, less pain, etc. I used to get it really bad, so I am happy.newmommad -

Beluga: maybe your sister was just shocked since your LO is only 7 months old? Maybe she didn't realize her reaction was so hurtful to you? Hopefully she realizes it and apologizes to you next time you talk to her. carterscutie85 -

Hello ladies... I am just writing to vent... I am soooo sad... I just told my parents and sister about this pregnancy... yeah, yeah, I know, I just could not tell them before... they are retired and live in Mexico, so we only talk by phone shortly every Sunday... anyway... My sister reaction was sooooo hurtful... She just said in surprised: 'Are you kidding?!, well I hope it is a boy. It better be'.... I am in tears, I just feel that it was just so unrespectful... I was hoping to hear something like: great, hope that you are feeling good, hope that the baby is great, or something like that.... Maybe I am just over-reacting, but I feel soo sad... she did not show any sign of happiness or well wishes... awwgghhh, so sad... :-(nikki3kids -

i got my period 6weeks after giving birth lol sad aye. i bled for weeks then had a break then got it back did this with all my kids. im classed as fertile.. but lately i have notice that i stop producing milk when im about to get my period then it comes back once i started my period so i have started him on formula round those days every mth.
also people that have other kids and a baby when you b/f do you lo stopp feeding to look at the older kids and then he ends up not wanting a feed so this drops your milk suply a bit im finding it hard to feed my baby as my older to fight or talk really loud and baby stops feeding to see whats going on i would go to another room but then he looks around to find out where everyone is and then wont feed he still wants milk has he goes on there but keep logging off before he gets a good feed. it peeing me off really. as i want to b/f for as long as i can but i feel he not getting much milk more soilds than milk he is 8mths as of yesterday i just havent changed him over yet but he has been doing this since he turned 7mths
