7 months old Your baby is becoming more interested in playing and can entertain himself for a little while on the floor. Encourage him to play by giving him stimulating and interesting toys. Your baby may enjoy an exersaucer or jumper, and this will help him develop muscles that are needed for walking. Many babies take off crawling at this age! When he begins to rock back and forth on his hands and knees, crawling is soon to come! If he is not yet up on his hands and knees, encourage him by placing favorite toys in front of him. Praise his accomplishments and if he begins to get frustrated, stop.

Organzing baby's toys can be a challenge. You need to find somewhere to safely store her toys so that they are easily accesible, but also easy to clean up. Low shelves can be great- make sure they are secured to the wall. A plastic laundry basket makes an ideal place for toys. Your baby can easily see what is inside and it moves from place to place easily. Make her play area interesting and encourage her to play with different toys to maximize learning. Babies at this age like toys that fit inside of each other- get her some nesting cups or a bowl with objects that can go inside.

Finger foods are good for babies that show an interest in feeding themselves. You can get special finger foods made just for babies or use cheerios as well. Bread, cheese and cooked veggies are all good choices. Put a couple on the highchair at a time. This will also help your baby develop fine motor skills. Let your baby help feed himself with less messy foods. At first, it can be messy. But, this is one of the many ways you can teach your baby to be independent. She probably has some teeth and sometimes snacking can help soothe the pain. It is also time to add some types of protein to her diet. You can add strained or pureed meats and poultry, but wait on eggs until atleast a year old.

New sounds will continue to come from your baby's mouth. She is learning different sounds and can say alot more. Listen to her and repeat her `words`. Point to objects and tell her what they are. Use a persons name when she sees them. Babies like to hear different sounds and will probably bang their toys together. Allow her to play with toys that make sounds.

Your baby likes to be included in what you do. He likes to be with other people and see pictures of other babies. Let him look at himself in the mirror often. Your baby can tell if someone is happy or upset by the way they look and talk. If you are upset, chances are your baby will notice.

You may begin to hear what sounds like real words. Your baby has learned alot about language and can say ma, mi, da, di, ba and bi. Put that together, and you may have just hear `mommy` or `daddy`. Make a game out of blowing air and clicking your tongue. These will help her with learning to talk. Teach your baby where her body parts are. You can show your baby different colors and tell him what they are.

Your baby's eyes are developing rapidly. When she was born, she could not see very far or differentiate colors. That is all changing now. Take her for walks and let her see as much as possible. Introduce her to different patterns, shapes, textures and colors. Play games with her that encourage her to use both eyes at the same time.

Because you are the most important thing to your baby, she will try to keep track of you. Separation anxiety is still an issue, but showing her that you will return will help. Calming your baby's distress will help her become less clingy. She will develop a sense of trust and security. As your baby grows and learns that you will always return for him, he will be able to tolerate longer perids of separation because of the trust he developed.

Cj just turned 7 months old! She's crawling everywhere...eats everything....she gives kisses..but she can not sit by herself LOL...but she pulls up stands up...crawls...she sleeps all night in her bed...but She isn't saying any words! She's just a sweetheart!! Her big brother love her to death and do everything for her..and are the greastest brothers ever! She loves baby food..and she loves real food..she's just gorgeous....she loves her big bows..and loves playing in herbroom..she loves her daddy so much!! And looks just like him!!! She got her 4 month shots yesterday....I delay all their shots...so she's been sore..but still a happy sweetheart! She has her two bottom teeth in..and I think shesbworking on another. So happy to finally have a girl! I love her!!!! Just bought her some tiny size 3 Sperry's with pink on them..they are spoon cute!! Can't wait for her to wear them!! Haha

wowwee - Monday, 23 Jan
Just walked for hour and 45 mins. I'm nakered, so unfit and not any thinner.... not happy

Amanda220 - Saturday, 21 Jan
Oh and Ava is our first child and I do not even want to begin thinking of having another for at least two years! Ava is a very easy going, content baby and I'm still exhausted! I think a lot of it is my job though. But I do want more - just not now. :)

Amanda220 - Saturday, 21 Jan
Wowee, thanks. It actually makes me sad. My husband works a lot with her to do new things lol and she's mastered saying dada! He loves it. She will say mama too sometimes but that's it. Just a bunch of talking with no real words! My pediatrician said sometimes smaller babies tend to get mobile faster? And Ava is definitely small! So maybe that's a contributing factor to why she's such a wiggle worm. This girl is full of energy and loves loves loves her jumperoo! She jumps up down and moves the seat all around. It's fun just to watch her! I highly recommend a jumperoo! We have the fisher price rainforest one!

Si happy to see people posting on this page! I've been checking and checking.....Em turned 7 months last week. She is such a good baby-very content! My other two were not like this so I keep worrying that something's wrong! ;) She's sitting and she doesn't actually saying words but imitates sounds really well! If I say bye-bye she says, 'ba-ba' and the same for other words...pretty cute! So fun to see what all of your little ones are doing! wowee-no more babies fpr me! Although if I could guarantee they would be as sweet as Em I just may have 10 more! ;)

wowwee - Saturday, 21 Jan
Amanda your lo sounds like a gifted child!!!! Bet your proud!! So any one fancy getting pregnant again? If you asked me couple of months ago I would of said yes straight away but now no. I want to watch lo grow and develop and get pregnant again when he's older , starting lil school so I can enjoy the new baby too

Amanda220 - Friday, 20 Jan
My little girl is 7.5 months. Ive been posting in 6 month page because this one was dead! Ava sits well by herself and doesn't tip over at all. She is getting on her hands and knees and rocking back and forth too so I'm assuming she will be crawling very soon! I didn't expect any of what she does so early! She was a month premature so I expected her to be late! She pulls herself to standing when she's sitting at her toys like her piano. When I'm holding her hands she actually takes a step or two instead of leaving both feet planted. It makes me happy but sad lol... Shabs, I feed Ava 3 meals too and I make sure to put pear in her oatmeal daily. Pears or prune, that's it. It helps keep her poops soft. I was mixing her cereal with apples and bananas and her poop was firm so I switched to pears or prunes and it's really made a difference...

wowwee - Friday, 20 Jan
Yey some people here!!!! My lo can sit unaided and has rolled a handful of times and not interested in crawling!! If something is out of his reach he just stretches as far as poss then gives up and starts eating carpet!!! He is a chatter box but only when no one is talking to him and usually first thing in morn or last thing at night. Shabs I'm glad it's getting easier :)

shabs78 - Friday, 20 Jan
wowwee, im still here! just haven't posted much the last couple of weeks have been hectic. Still reading every night though :) How's ur lo? Sameera turned seven months almost a week ago, she's become a real roller but doesn't sit up on her own yet either or crawl. She's having three solid meals a day now and i just introduced yoghurt which she loves! Only thing she's been passing really hard stools this week, not sure why? the sleep thing is slowly but surely getting better at nights, she's falling asleep pretty much on her own now but still wakes 1-2 times a night most nights. Ah well! I love having her cuddle next to me too so be it! lol! hope this room gets a little busier for us :)

LadyJade - Thursday, 5 Jan
Hey Mommies!! Well Chase is just 7 months. Cannot believe it. We hare ditched crawling and now he is pulling himself up on EVERYTHING then will suddenly let go like he thinks he can stand alone (which he can't!) Two bototm teeth. He is adorable and I am loving his little personality. He is so funny and still a super happy laughing little guy. No sleeping too great right now though, think he is going through a growth spurt. Also has a bit of a weeping eye. No muck in it just like a blocked tear duct. If it doesnt come right by Saturday off to the Dr I suppose...Grrrr...

destiny0619~~~ Congrats that is soooo exciting! Little Man was suppose to be our last, bcuz of how hard it was on me, I was sick the whole time and had to be on bed rest at 29weeks. But if the doctors can fix my stomach (and it looks like they can) We will be trying for one more soon =-)Little man finally got a tooth in, but he has one more coming. He has also been crawling backwards, so funny to watch! he's still pulling himself up on everthing doing little squats, makes me giggle. Im so exctied for xmas, we went to see santa and he got a gift, and he had so much fun with the wraping and opening it. REDDING2009~~ When Little man isn't teething I can lay him in his crib and he will go to sleep as long as his mobil is on. But when he has teeth coming in he doesn't sleep longer then an hour

Destiny, congrats! Hope things are good for you and the kids! We went to see Santa yesterday! Finally did the cards! He's less congested and back to drinking milk, he only drinks 18oz in 24hrs but he eats food like a pig! I introduced Cheerios! He eats them whole! And he has no teeth! Redding, he usually drinks milk at bedtime and he falls asleep in my arms but he seeks the pacifier immediately after the bottle. For his daytime naps, we just put him in his crib awake with his paci and he'll fall asleep. I also use the bedtime turtle that sings and has the lights that show stars on the ceiling. He's addicted to the paci but only at sleeping time, I don't give it to him at all other than that

Myfirstedition:) - Sunday, 11 Dec

redding2009 - Saturday, 10 Dec
Hi all! I was wondering if any of your babies are able to go to sleep on their own at bedtime or go back to sleep when they wake up at night or during naptime without any soothing techniques ( rocking to sleep, pacifier, nursing/bottlefeeding)? If so, what sleep training method did you use, how did you use it, and at what age? If not, what sleep training method do you plan to use and at what age?

bellablue - Friday, 9 Dec

Thanks for the input ladies, hes still congested...hes drinking more milk now but still not as much as he used to. He eats his meals like a piggy but in a 24 hour period, only like 16-18oz of milk. No sign of a tooth yet! I cant believe how much hes grown, its amazing and I just cant get enough of him! He's just so happy and innocent! I come home from work tire, cranky and he just smiles and everything is better =]
