32 and older

7 months old Your baby is becoming more interested in playing and can entertain himself for a little while on the floor. Encourage him to play by giving him stimulating and interesting toys. Your baby may enjoy an exersaucer or jumper, and this will help him develop muscles that are needed for walking. Many babies take off crawling at this age! When he begins to rock back and forth on his hands and knees, crawling is soon to come! If he is not yet up on his hands and knees, encourage him by placing favorite toys in front of him. Praise his accomplishments and if he begins to get frustrated, stop.

Organzing baby's toys can be a challenge. You need to find somewhere to safely store her toys so that they are easily accesible, but also easy to clean up. Low shelves can be great- make sure they are secured to the wall. A plastic laundry basket makes an ideal place for toys. Your baby can easily see what is inside and it moves from place to place easily. Make her play area interesting and encourage her to play with different toys to maximize learning. Babies at this age like toys that fit inside of each other- get her some nesting cups or a bowl with objects that can go inside.

Finger foods are good for babies that show an interest in feeding themselves. You can get special finger foods made just for babies or use cheerios as well. Bread, cheese and cooked veggies are all good choices. Put a couple on the highchair at a time. This will also help your baby develop fine motor skills. Let your baby help feed himself with less messy foods. At first, it can be messy. But, this is one of the many ways you can teach your baby to be independent. She probably has some teeth and sometimes snacking can help soothe the pain. It is also time to add some types of protein to her diet. You can add strained or pureed meats and poultry, but wait on eggs until atleast a year old.

New sounds will continue to come from your baby's mouth. She is learning different sounds and can say alot more. Listen to her and repeat her `words`. Point to objects and tell her what they are. Use a persons name when she sees them. Babies like to hear different sounds and will probably bang their toys together. Allow her to play with toys that make sounds.

Your baby likes to be included in what you do. He likes to be with other people and see pictures of other babies. Let him look at himself in the mirror often. Your baby can tell if someone is happy or upset by the way they look and talk. If you are upset, chances are your baby will notice.

You may begin to hear what sounds like real words. Your baby has learned alot about language and can say ma, mi, da, di, ba and bi. Put that together, and you may have just hear `mommy` or `daddy`. Make a game out of blowing air and clicking your tongue. These will help her with learning to talk. Teach your baby where her body parts are. You can show your baby different colors and tell him what they are.

Your baby's eyes are developing rapidly. When she was born, she could not see very far or differentiate colors. That is all changing now. Take her for walks and let her see as much as possible. Introduce her to different patterns, shapes, textures and colors. Play games with her that encourage her to use both eyes at the same time.

Because you are the most important thing to your baby, she will try to keep track of you. Separation anxiety is still an issue, but showing her that you will return will help. Calming your baby's distress will help her become less clingy. She will develop a sense of trust and security. As your baby grows and learns that you will always return for him, he will be able to tolerate longer perids of separation because of the trust he developed.

nikki3kids - Sunday, 15 Nov
i got my period 6weeks after giving birth lol sad aye. i bled for weeks then had a break then got it back did this with all my kids. im classed as fertile.. but lately i have notice that i stop producing milk when im about to get my period then it comes back once i started my period so i have started him on formula round those days every mth. also people that have other kids and a baby when you b/f do you lo stopp feeding to look at the older kids and then he ends up not wanting a feed so this drops your milk suply a bit im finding it hard to feed my baby as my older to fight or talk really loud and baby stops feeding to see whats going on i would go to another room but then he looks around to find out where everyone is and then wont feed he still wants milk has he goes on there but keep logging off before he gets a good feed. it peeing me off really. as i want to b/f for as long as i can but i feel he not getting much milk more soilds than milk he is 8mths as of yesterday i just havent changed him over yet but he has been doing this since he turned 7mths

Jayme stood up today! He was in his exersaucer and was standing all by himself without anything supporting him! He wasn't even leaning on anything-just standing by himself!! His doctor has mentioned previously that he may need physical therapy since he would not put his weight on his legs. But he's doing it now! I still think he may get a CAT scan, since his doctor says his head is too big and wants to make sure there is no water on his brain. It's not likely that there is, but he just wants to be safe. (or maybe just milk the insurance-who knows, but better safe than sorry) But I definetly do not think he will need the physical therapy now, seeing as he can stand and all! Geez if I get this excited over standing, how excited will I be when he walks, talks, or gets his first A in school? lol

carterscutie85 - Sunday, 15 Nov
wmelon-I think it's Pat A Cake, not Patty Cake. Cause you can Pat A Cake, but you can't Patty a cake, lol. And the nursery rhyme talks about baking a cake, so it makes sense u would Pat it, not Patty it, lol.

bandt - Sunday, 15 Nov
Its been a while since I've posted anything in here. My lil man is now 7 months. He started crawling at 5 months, almost 6. He's currently trying to stand up by himself with out holding onto anything. He pulls himself up on everything. And he likes to walk holding on to the couch or while i am holding on to his hands. He loves to be around mommy, but is not afraid of strangers. I hate leaving him while I am at work, I'm afraid i'm going to miss something. Lately while he has been holding onto the couch he will let go and stand by himself for a couple of seconds. ahh he's growing up so fast. he can hold his bottle by himself, say dada and hey. he loves to go shopping so many things to look at, and he acts like its the coolest thing to sit like a big boy in the shopping cart. i'm thinking he is in the process of getting his two top middle teeth. he already has his two bottome middle. and he loves to eat, eat, and eat. in just 6 months he is going to be a big brother. i really think he will enjoy having someone else to play with here at home. babies are so precious and are miracles. i love mine so much.

newmommad - Sunday, 15 Nov
wow on all the early crawlers!! I didn't say that babies don't crawl this early, I just said not many did. I myself, started walking at 10 months, so maybe my LO will too? However, still not crawling, so we'll see!

MIms - Saturday, 14 Nov
It was 7 months in the making but my baby had his first day at the park today. I had my handy camera to record a portion of him swinging away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH6mAD-flVo feel free to watch and comment? anyone else on youtube?

Beluga - Saturday, 14 Nov
My little Sarah started crawling at the beginning of the 6th month... She also uses the furniture to cruise around... She pulls herself up and down... We play hide and seek, and I chase her and say run Sarah run and she runs (well, crawls faster)... She also claps if I clap... but so far no teeth, and no words, except for 'ama' when she gets in trouble... I believe that every baby is different, everyone at their own pace and time... :-)

Wmelon77 - Saturday, 14 Nov
Koi knows nothing about Patty Cake, I never sing that to him. But this little girl at his daycare knew how to play at 5 months. Also I got a book from the hospital and it says Pat-A-Cake not Patty Cake. I have a nursery rhyme book that says the same thing. I'm so confused that's one of the reasons I don't sing it to him, LOL!!!

Wmelon77 - Saturday, 14 Nov
Koi started crawling @ 5 months also. He pulls up on everything too! He will let go, but he falls immediately. He is definitely not scared though, he wants to walk so bad. And sometimes he crawls on all fours or with his hands, one knee and one foot, LOL!! I know he will be walking before 10 months.

sandy127962 - Saturday, 14 Nov
newmommad my little one now started crawling at 5 months but has no desire to pull up on anything yet..my first did not crawl until 9 months and did not walk until 13 months we shall see with this one. they do things when they do things right? Oh and Patty cake now? I don't think so she is just learning to do Peek a boo. She pulls her burp cloth over her face and I say Peek a boo and she pulls it down and laughs and puts it back up..I can't imagine any baby playing patty cake now..

MIms - Saturday, 14 Nov
