9 months old Your baby will be beginning to talk soon! You may have already heard a recognizable word, but now your baby will start to say things voluntarily. Praise your baby and congratulate her for a job well done. Babies like to please adults and if she knows that you are proud, she will be more likely to attempt it again. When you are talking to her, use hand motions to show her what you are talking about. Remember to use clear words so that she can imitate your sounds. When your baby is crying for help or whining for something that she wants, remind her that she can tell you what she wants without crying.

He can crawl up stairs now, so make sure you are using gates at your stairways. He may be able to stand up and take steps at this point. He is able to walk with the support of a sturdy structure or your help. Your baby likes to bang toys together and make noise. If you give your baby blocks, watch him build a tower with them. Your baby probably likes to scribble on paper and likes when she can see you do the same.

Your baby may be scared of things that she was scared of before. This is normal and will probably pass. Your baby is becoming stubborn and begins to test authority at times. This is a part of her becoming independent. She likes to show you her toys, but most likely does not like to share them. Because your baby is beginning to test you and needs more guidance now, it is important to know how to discipline babies. You should prevent a situation that will allow him to do something that you do not like. Do not leave the remote on the table if you don't want him to push a button. Ignore behaviors that are not harmful. If your baby has pulled all of your socks out of the drawer, pick them up and ignore it. Otherwise, it teaches him that he can do things to get your attention. Reward your baby when she is playing well. Don't keep your baby in a playpen or swing all day long. She will not be able to experience the freedom she needs to learn.

Encourage him to use all of his senses every day. Play different types of music for your baby to hear. Introduce your baby to different cultures by playing international music. Allow him to play with toys that have various textures, patterns, colors, sizes and shapes. When you are feeding your baby, give him a variety of flavors try. Your baby can even experience different scents.

Give your baby a large bowl full of dry cereal, noodles, rice, water or other small items. Hand him some measuring spoons or cups and let him dump and scoop the objects. When he learns how to use one item, give him another one to try out. You can also give him old boxes or containers to stack. Other toys that your baby might like are: balls, nesting blocks, books, bath toys, push toys, toys with lights and sounds, musical instruments, dolls and puppets, large trucks and cars, and toy telephones.

Continue to encourage your baby to feed herself by giving her fruits, vegetables, crackers, cereals and cheeses that he can easily eat on his own. Even if your baby is messy when he is eating, praise him for feeding himself. If your baby refuses one type of food today, try it again another day. It can take several tries before a baby will like some foods.

Destiny*Joshua*BabyOnTheWay - Tuesday, 31 Jan
Thank you Hannahe. Ill c what his pediatrician says. I want them to document it is they say hes fine cause I dont want WIC calling childrens services on me saying Im not feeding my baby. Ugh.

hannahe - Tuesday, 31 Jan
destiny- talia is only 17lbs and 28in. and the doc said she is in the 50% for height and weight, she is a girl so that makes a difference but not enough to worry about, im sure joshua will be perfectly fine, dont blame yourself, he is FAR from unhealthy weight. i have a friend whose little boy was 16lbs at a year and doc said he was fine, off the scale as far as tiny goes but perfectly healthy

bellablue - Tuesday, 31 Jan

Destiny*Joshua*BabyOnTheWay - Tuesday, 31 Jan
He's 9 1/2 months and weighs 17 1/2 lbs and I think she said hes 27 in long.

Destiny*Joshua*BabyOnTheWay - Tuesday, 31 Jan
I have decided Im going to try my hardest to bf. I have stopped with both previously by 3 mo. I was told by WIC today that Joshua is not gaining weight or growing cause I dont give him enough formula. He eats so well that I cut the formula out except first and last meals. He has an appt with the pediatrician next week so we'll c how concerned the doc is. I feel likeIm making my baby unhealthy. What if I've stunted his growth? Damn it.

Kodyz boo - Tuesday, 31 Jan
hannahe-yes i agree ten days is long but it works for the most part it seems? I'm hoping he doesn't get another ear infection. He's teething badly right now and definitely has the yucky runny nose just hope it doesn't turn into something more like last time :( bella and lillians-I love xmas too but i think the longest we kept it was till new years lol! lillians-we are trying to have fun. We took the baby to his first circus in nashville last weekend and he loved it! He just learned how to clap last week so it was perfect timing cuz he was clapping like crazy for all the things he liked...soo cute :) I can't wait to move into our house...they told us it will be ready on the 13th so a couple more weeks of lodging in this tiny room with the baby, two dogs, and me and the hubby lol! I bought an ovulation kit just to see if i was ovulating since i just started getting my period again cuz i nurse and i was getting discouraged because it took almost the full 20 days but finally one of the tests said yes so that gives me hope that my body is ready to attempt pregnancy again lol! Now we just have to continue trying and hope that it happens sooner than later :) I'm not gonna buy any more kits i just wanted to know that i was or not lol!

lillianshappymommy - Monday, 30 Jan
oh and @lovelybaby2 I have a real tree so don't let that stop ya from keeping it up longer. lol ;)

lillianshappymommy - Monday, 30 Jan
@bellablue that's crazy! I think I've only met three people my whole life who has our birthdays! lol Yeah I thought it was weird that her doctor told me thought she was small. Most of the stuff they tell me goes in one ear and out the other. :) and my tree is still up too. Haha. I'm actually taking it down tonight. lol It must be an aquarius thing. ;) @kodyzboo sounds like you guys are busy make sure your having fun throughout it all! @destiny I'm sorry your not feeling to well. If you lived closer I would watch your little one for you for a couple of hours so you could get a nap. Is there anyone that could help?

lovelybaby2 - Monday, 30 Jan
Destiny~~ Im so sorry your still not feeling well dear, I hope it gets better soon and that Joshua, starts to feel better soon!! I found out with both of mine, I couldn't wait and wanted to know what to buy!! But I think the next time around we might not find out since I already have girl and boy stuff, so we are set either way, lol and we already picked out names for the most part. Hope they feel better soon!! Little Man has his two front teeth coming in now, looks so red and swollen in his mouth!! But he's been pretty good about it only gets crabby toward the end of!!?? the day so not bad at all. I cant believe he's gonna be 9months this week!! Where did the time go Bellablue~~ Lol I think if we had a fake tree I might be tempted to keep it up for awhile to !!

bellablue - Sunday, 29 Jan
im so bad finally took my christmas tree down it was so pretty! but had to having a super bowl party with family lol they think im nuts one year i kept it up till feb lol!!

hannahe - Sunday, 29 Jan
kodyz- i just clean out my refridgerator door where all the condiments are kept and i found an old bottle of antibiotics that i didnt finish from a few months ago when my oldest had an ear infection :/ oops!!! i always seem to forget after about a week 10 days is such a long time. but this time 2 of my kids have ear infections so hopefully that will help me remember, its easy to forget one kid is on meds, its harder to forget 2 :P

Kodyz boo - Sunday, 29 Jan
I feel like I haven't been on here forever because the army was moving us from maryland to kentucky/tennessee so now we are in lodging waiting on housing which we should hopefully get in the next week or so. KJ has learned how to clap, is saying momma so much now, and his two upper teeth are coming in so he's been very moody. However he's still sleeping great anywhere from 9-11 hours straight and then I nurse and he sometimes goes back to sleep for another hour or so. rbrencur-sorry you couldn't bf but hope it works out for you next time and i just hope with me getting good amount of spacing with my nursing now that he sleeps so good at night it will help me to get preggo!!! lillians-kj is the same way always two teeth at a time so he's finally getting two upper at the same time and when he was seven months he got his lower. i don't see how 18lbs is tiny. KJ is not even 17lbs that's tiny lol. He was 16lbs 6 oz. destiny-sorry ur not getting much sleep im sure thats not fun being preggo and not getting ne :( and i will def find out the sex with my second and im hoping for a girl so we can have one o each cuz we are done after two! lovely-yes i love that he's a lil guy like him momma too lol! hannahe-my lil guy had a double ear infection a cple weeks ago too :( make sure you do the full ten days of antiobiotics even if its better after a couple because it can return quick :(

bellablue - Sunday, 29 Jan

Destiny*Joshua*BabyOnTheWay - Saturday, 28 Jan
I'm going 2 find out. If its a boy then I have a ton of clothes and if its a girl I need everything new. I might go all out cause this will be our last baby. Get all the matching furniture including strollers and swings. Set up a nursery (as babies they share a room with me) and get it all decked out for the appropriate sex. Probably not though lol. I remember all u ladies talking about nesting and I was way to tired for all that. I am a good supervisor though.

bellablue - Saturday, 28 Jan
destiny are you going to find out the babys sex or you gonna weight and be suprised?

bellablue - Saturday, 28 Jan
