Your baby, 9 months

9 months old Your baby will be beginning to talk soon! You may have already heard a recognizable word, but now your baby will start to say things voluntarily. Praise your baby and congratulate her for a job well done. Babies like to please adults and if she knows that you are proud, she will be more likely to attempt it again. When you are talking to her, use hand motions to show her what you are talking about. Remember to use clear words so that she can imitate your sounds. When your baby is crying for help or whining for something that she wants, remind her that she can tell you what she wants without crying.

He can crawl up stairs now, so make sure you are using gates at your stairways. He may be able to stand up and take steps at this point. He is able to walk with the support of a sturdy structure or your help. Your baby likes to bang toys together and make noise. If you give your baby blocks, watch him build a tower with them. Your baby probably likes to scribble on paper and likes when she can see you do the same.

Your baby may be scared of things that she was scared of before. This is normal and will probably pass. Your baby is becoming stubborn and begins to test authority at times. This is a part of her becoming independent. She likes to show you her toys, but most likely does not like to share them. Because your baby is beginning to test you and needs more guidance now, it is important to know how to discipline babies. You should prevent a situation that will allow him to do something that you do not like. Do not leave the remote on the table if you don't want him to push a button. Ignore behaviors that are not harmful. If your baby has pulled all of your socks out of the drawer, pick them up and ignore it. Otherwise, it teaches him that he can do things to get your attention. Reward your baby when she is playing well. Don't keep your baby in a playpen or swing all day long. She will not be able to experience the freedom she needs to learn.

Encourage him to use all of his senses every day. Play different types of music for your baby to hear. Introduce your baby to different cultures by playing international music. Allow him to play with toys that have various textures, patterns, colors, sizes and shapes. When you are feeding your baby, give him a variety of flavors try. Your baby can even experience different scents.

Give your baby a large bowl full of dry cereal, noodles, rice, water or other small items. Hand him some measuring spoons or cups and let him dump and scoop the objects. When he learns how to use one item, give him another one to try out. You can also give him old boxes or containers to stack. Other toys that your baby might like are: balls, nesting blocks, books, bath toys, push toys, toys with lights and sounds, musical instruments, dolls and puppets, large trucks and cars, and toy telephones.

Continue to encourage your baby to feed herself by giving her fruits, vegetables, crackers, cereals and cheeses that he can easily eat on his own. Even if your baby is messy when he is eating, praise him for feeding himself. If your baby refuses one type of food today, try it again another day. It can take several tries before a baby will like some foods.

Beautiful pics Jessberr!! What a little heartbreaker you have there ;) hehe Is anyone else having feeding issues? I'm having a hard time getting Khali to eat much thats not table food.

jessberr31 - Tuesday, 17 Nov
Oh, and I just bought him those J's too and they are a size 5!!! I go to Finish Line to the clearance section for his shoes since he grows so fast, lol. He can have Jordans now since they're only costing me like 20 bucks on clearance. But the big boys no way, theirs are never cheap, even on clearance, lol.

jessberr31 - Tuesday, 17 Nov
Thanks! I'm very happy with them. Theres some more, I put those and a couple more on my page. I've been dying to get them done, I knew he was going to do good. Its so easy to get him to smile, even around strangers. Missbella, yep, his are are still blue/gray and they're here to stay the dr said! Yay! I know I love his fit too.:) I been wanting to put it on him, but was saving it for his pics. Its a LRG outfit and I thought its so cute how they have lil guy stuff looking like the type of clothes his Daddy wears. His dad loves that one BTW, lol! He has one that looks very similar. Do you have a City Trend there? I don't know if you have that way on the west coast, I think the store is out of Detroit. We're only 45min-1hr from the D so we get a lot of the same stores they have. But anyways they have TONS of stuff like that, boys and girls. I also had got him a 3piece Akademiks sweat outfit and a Dickie's outfit. Most of the time he's in his PJ's though, LOL! I've been getting him 18mo too! Whoa! He's too big. Probably my biggest kid. I know for sure none of the others was in a 18mo before they hit 1. Okay, I'm rambling now again, sorry. I'm extra talkative today I guess.:)

MissBella - Tuesday, 17 Nov
Jess~ those are so cute. He looks so grown. Adorable!!! look at his little big boy outfit. He seriously needs to meet Jaleah, they would have some high maintenance children together. lol Are his eyes still blue?

EthansMommy09 - Tuesday, 17 Nov

Macy's one day sale... starts tomorrow but online today. I ordered some really cute Thanksgiving clothes for the muchkins I hope they get here on time, they should, lets hope.

MissBella - Tuesday, 17 Nov
dueinfeb~~ Id have 300 kids of I had to use condoms, thats how much i hate those things! All this talk about babies makes me want another one, stop it already. Oh and Jess congrats on the new car... thats what I am doing with my tax returns this year. Three car seats in the back of a car is not easy you have to put some booty into it when you shut the back doors.

jessberr31 - Tuesday, 17 Nov
So Jiovanni did AWESOME for his pics! I'm waiting to be able to access them online and its taking too long, grrr! I'll post a few when I get to them. So he was great for his pics, but then comenced to scream the rest of the time at the mall, and the WHOLE way home. It lasted for like 40min straight! I tried to hold him and he wanted nothing to do with anyone or anything. I think his tooth is really bothering him. He's alright now in his crib with his Nick Jr. on, lol! IDK what that was about, but he;s okay now. thank goodness! People were looking at me like I did something to him, lol!

jessberr31 - Tuesday, 17 Nov
We're still using the pull-out method. I'm (supposed to be) having my surgery soon so unless the pull-out fails us before then then I'm done having babies too. Sometimes I secretly wish I would get pg so I could delay my surgery, lol, but that would be selfish since thats the only reason I would want to get pg again. I signed the papers for both a tubal and a hysterectomy. I had to do both b/c if he can save my ovary then he'll just do a tubal on my one and only tube. And if he can't save my ovary then I told him I want a complete hyster, since if they leave the uterus and you have no ovaries you have to take one horomone to make your uterus shed the monthly lining i.e. a period, and combined horomone therapy has an increased risk for cancer. Besides, whats the fun of having a hysterectomy if you still have to have a period!? But I only want to be on one horomone, estrogen, and not both progesterone and estrogen. The less the better, and I'm hoping I won't need the estro for very long. Okay, I got all off track now, sorry. It will be so weird actually NOT being ABLE to get pg! I've always been a fertile mertile! IDK, I just have always thought it sorta unnatural, ya know? I'm weird, I know!

dueinfeb - Tuesday, 17 Nov
yeah...we use condoms. and will be using them for a LONG time

kayandrysmom - Tuesday, 17 Nov
I am personally done having babies. 2 is plenty for me i am very happy with that lol

dueinfeb - Tuesday, 17 Nov
i had an iud for a few weeks and had to have it taken out. i decided not to have it reinserted bc of the risks and i didn't want it to possible affect me later on

carebare4w - Tuesday, 17 Nov
Coli Yeah my little one is getting it done tomorrow morning. Missbella I have the IUD as well so when we decide to have another one I have to get it out but I'm not going to tell my husband when I get it out (when we decide to have another one) so then its more of a surprise for him. If I could afford it and I said this a million times I would have one right now.

MissBella - Tuesday, 17 Nov
Jaleah's daddy really wants another one right now. I have an IUD in so there is no way it could happen right now but after sex he always says, I hope that doesnt work. I would give in but we just moved and im doing my student teaching on top of school and work so it would just be too much. He on the other hand has never really had a normal job so these constraints that I have he thinks little of. Who knows, our wedding is on Christmas Day maybe like a year after that I will be ready.

coli - Tuesday, 17 Nov
I did give my lo the vaccine, I was unsure like the rest and just decided to get it done. Also is anyone else thinking about having another baby anytime soon, or trying??? Me and DH talked about it last night and I think we are going to start TTC after the first of the year.

carebare4w - Tuesday, 17 Nov
dueinfeb-Mine doesn't either and she is 10 months 2 wks

Redhead - Tuesday, 17 Nov
Thank you!

kayandrysmom - Tuesday, 17 Nov
I have the vicks steam vaporizer Erin...it has a medicine you can buy that fills the air with vapors..its very helpful

Redhead - Tuesday, 17 Nov
Chrisitine--I think I remember you talking about some kind of vaporizer..we need one for Scarlett at night with all her congestion she can't sleep. Do you remember what king of vaporizer?

dueinfeb - Tuesday, 17 Nov
stella still has NO teeth!!!

dueinfeb - Tuesday, 17 Nov
kayandrysmom- to your point of GBS, it scientifically known that GBS and seizures can show up months and weeks following a vaccine, but for some reason they refuse to admit that any other side effect could ever occur beyond 24-48 hours.

dueinfeb - Tuesday, 17 Nov
jess- i agree, miscarriages happen for many reason- most of them completely natural. in the gardasil case, what was interesting was that immediately halted giving it to pregnant women and their position now is that it should not be administered to pregnant women. obviously something came out in their testing that showed that there was a correlation otherwise they would have continued vaccinating pregnant women.

kayandrysmom - Tuesday, 17 Nov
I agree that this whole thing is probably blown WAY up. I also dont know if its what went around my house...and if it is the severity ranged highly from each of us...Dh was the worst...then me then rylee...but we all got sick within days of each other and had at least 2 flu symotoms each so who knows! I also have never had a flu shot...nor has my almsot 5 year old...so i dont see a reason to start now. I really wish i had 100% trust in the vaccination companies then that would make giving them any shot easier...but thats just not the way it is. They have both received every vaccine except the flu shots. I just cant wait for this all to go away!! Bye Bye piggy flu! Oh and now there is a reported case of GBS in a teenager just hours after receiving the vaccine...so that should be blowing up shortly as well

jessberr31 - Tuesday, 17 Nov
OMG he has a big front tooth almost popping out of his gums!!!! I just looked in there and seen it! Woo Hoo! 3rd tooth finally!
