9 months old Your baby will be beginning to talk soon! You may have already heard a recognizable word, but now your baby will start to say things voluntarily. Praise your baby and congratulate her for a job well done. Babies like to please adults and if she knows that you are proud, she will be more likely to attempt it again. When you are talking to her, use hand motions to show her what you are talking about. Remember to use clear words so that she can imitate your sounds. When your baby is crying for help or whining for something that she wants, remind her that she can tell you what she wants without crying.

He can crawl up stairs now, so make sure you are using gates at your stairways. He may be able to stand up and take steps at this point. He is able to walk with the support of a sturdy structure or your help. Your baby likes to bang toys together and make noise. If you give your baby blocks, watch him build a tower with them. Your baby probably likes to scribble on paper and likes when she can see you do the same.

Your baby may be scared of things that she was scared of before. This is normal and will probably pass. Your baby is becoming stubborn and begins to test authority at times. This is a part of her becoming independent. She likes to show you her toys, but most likely does not like to share them. Because your baby is beginning to test you and needs more guidance now, it is important to know how to discipline babies. You should prevent a situation that will allow him to do something that you do not like. Do not leave the remote on the table if you don't want him to push a button. Ignore behaviors that are not harmful. If your baby has pulled all of your socks out of the drawer, pick them up and ignore it. Otherwise, it teaches him that he can do things to get your attention. Reward your baby when she is playing well. Don't keep your baby in a playpen or swing all day long. She will not be able to experience the freedom she needs to learn.

Encourage him to use all of his senses every day. Play different types of music for your baby to hear. Introduce your baby to different cultures by playing international music. Allow him to play with toys that have various textures, patterns, colors, sizes and shapes. When you are feeding your baby, give him a variety of flavors try. Your baby can even experience different scents.

Give your baby a large bowl full of dry cereal, noodles, rice, water or other small items. Hand him some measuring spoons or cups and let him dump and scoop the objects. When he learns how to use one item, give him another one to try out. You can also give him old boxes or containers to stack. Other toys that your baby might like are: balls, nesting blocks, books, bath toys, push toys, toys with lights and sounds, musical instruments, dolls and puppets, large trucks and cars, and toy telephones.

Continue to encourage your baby to feed herself by giving her fruits, vegetables, crackers, cereals and cheeses that he can easily eat on his own. Even if your baby is messy when he is eating, praise him for feeding himself. If your baby refuses one type of food today, try it again another day. It can take several tries before a baby will like some foods.

So I stopped the yogurt and the eczema cleared up! So i guess its a lactose intolerance! So for breakfast I just feed him oatmeal and fruit. Anyone else's babies have an allergy or sensitivity?

lovelybaby2 - Thursday, 26 Jan
Sorry Bellabule, lol that part was for Destiny!! @Destiny, Im sorry your nt getting any sleep is the morning sickness at least any better? DianaWilcox~~ Im sorry your little guy has to deal with that, did the doctor give him anything for it? hannahe~~ Poor little princess I hope she feels better soon!

hannahe - Thursday, 26 Jan
talia turned 9 mos old today! i took her for her well child visit to get her shots and it turns out she has a double ear infection! poor thing! she has been a little fussy but she is getting another tooth in so i attributed it all to that.. well now she is on antibiotics so that should clear it up. she is 28 in and 17 lbs5oz. her doctor is retiring on monday so im glad we got to see him one last time.

lillianshappymommy - Thursday, 26 Jan
@yummum I know you must be worried but I think you'll be ok! You'll be tired, but remember that you are blessed. :) Enjoy your bundles cause they won't stay that way for long. lol. Lillian is also does the throwing herself back when she's angry. I can't stay mad at her though cause when I scold her she just giggles at me. lmao. I know she's definitely is going to be a handful when she's older! lol. Ah she is not clapping, but she is shaking her head no. I know she knows what it means and sometimes she does it just to play with us! lol. It's really cute to see john nodding his head yes and lillian laughs and shakes her head no. sigh. I don't know how she got sp big so fast. :( The 8th is my birthday and lilly will be ten months! I know I say this a lot, but I really can't believe it!! Also lillian is 18 pounds 12 ounces. Her doctor told me that she's on the small side. -__- I can't believe she told me that. She was like that I should increase her solids. Huh? three times a day isn't enough? I know she's getting plenty to eat otherwise she would let me know. I don't understand why my doctor is under the impression that I am under feeding her. 18 pounds is perfect for a nine month old. smh

yummum2b - Thursday, 26 Jan

Wow I haven't been on here in along time. My baby boy will be 10months on the 1st. His wt. Is 26.5 and 30 inches long. He is a big boy. The only concern I told my doc at his appt. Is he throws himself back when he gets moody. Anyone going through that?? What do you do to help , I usually try to show him something like a toy to get his attention on something else. But I don't want to deal with that when he is 2. Lol..

bellablue - Wednesday, 25 Jan

Destiny*Joshua*BabyOnTheWay - Wednesday, 25 Jan
Why won't he sleep? I'm so tired. All he does is wake up crying all through the night.

bkle - Tuesday, 24 Jan
madison is finnally crawling good. she likes to walk with assistance and soooo great to have around. :-) She loves to feed herself and she's talking up a storm. bable mostly but a few words here and there. so proud :-)

DianaWilcox - Monday, 23 Jan
Hey ladies! so we went for his 9month appt last week...hes 22lbs and 30.25 inches! hes been in size 4 diapers for weeks. Hes eating so many new things...but he has no teeth and is still not a great sleeper. He wakes up a few times, drinks a bottle once a night. My major concern now is that he has like these dry patches that the doctor said look like eczema patches on the back of his legs and one one his arm and one on his back. Now on his chest and stomach its like a rash. Im starting to wonder if its an allergy or just dryness...ugh I hate to see my poor baby like this!!

lovelybaby2 - Monday, 23 Jan
Lol bellablue Im glad you got your snow and enjoyed it so much. We got the snow and then we got rain where im at. O and I posted on the 8month page responding to you last week, I was wondering how you lost all the baby I hope your able to start getting some sleep and feeling better. How is the morning sickness? lillianshappymommy - Awe little black curls, how cute!! My little guy finally got some hair but not much, and it grow in like a little mohawk, its to funny. My DD got her teeth in two at a time, it was pretty rough on her, but on the plus side they finish teething sooner. Kodyz boo!! I love how little KJ is, my fat guy is moving up to 4 already!!! This kid is going to cost me a fortune in food when he is older. Right now he has his front teeth coming in, and he has started pulling on his ear so im thinking it might be an ear infection, ugh he's going to be just like his big sister who got one everytime she got a tooth in!! no fever yet so just gonna keep an eye on him.

Destiny*Joshua*BabyOnTheWay - Sunday, 22 Jan
Joshua was sick for so long with one thing after another that I've had him in my bed. He's not sleeping well even while in bed with me anymore. Right now its just me and him in my king size bed and hes not sleeping well. WTH? I want to get him back in his crib but I dont want to get up every hour. My daughter was not like this if I remember right. Im so miserrable being pregnant and not getting a nap during the day or sleeping at night. Im so frustrated.

lillianshappymommy - Sunday, 22 Jan
bahh!! I almost missed the whole freaking month! where is all the time going?? I start a part time job on friday a little anxious to be going back to work. :( I'm also a full time student and a mommy to a beautiful nine month old who will soon be ten months. I also discovered that her birthday falls on easter sunday. :( I wanted to do those things seperately, but I guess it takes the planning out of it. Sigh. oh well she'll be one! oh my god!! She's also getting her two top teeth in crazy that she'll have four teeth!! And poor baby she always get's two at a time never one at a time, but she's a trooper! Her hair is steadily growing and it's so weird to look at her and see black curls hugging the side of her head. lol I've gotten so use to her having the sprinkle of dust that now that it's growing in i'm realizing I will soon be a hairdresser. lol How are all of you ladies?

rbrencur - Saturday, 21 Jan
kodyz - I could only breastfeed emma for 2 months. and then pumped for one additional month. She had a severe milk protien allergy and we didn't know until I made my doc refer us to the pedi,. My milk was making her sick and after we tried a bottle twice she refused to relatch, so i was having reg periods after 3 months. This lil boy will NOT see a bottle until he is much older, and I will be starting with a dairy free diet going into breastfeeding, and then slowly add milk in to see if thats what aggrivates him if it does, and them adjust my diet accordingly. I miss it so much. other than seeing his sweet face and cuddling it's what I look forward to most. Can y'all remind me of this in June when i wanna rip my hair out the first few weeks of learning to bf again! hah!

bellablue - Saturday, 21 Jan

I know I can't believe they don't go again till they are one years old. KJ is finally going to size three diapers soon cuz he's starting to pee thru his two's sometimes at night but he's not quite there yet but once this box is done ill be switching. he's got such a tiny lil butt though lol!

Kodyz boo - Tuesday, 17 Jan
rbrencur-congrats on your lil boy. Did you breastfeed? how did you get preggo so quick...lucky lol! we just recently started trying to get preggo but i want to be so bad again. i didn't get my period for the first 7 months and i just got my first one last month so im hoping im ovulating again? lol I want them between 20-24 months apart cuz that's what my sis and i are and it's great. im really hoping for a girl this time around because i've always wanted one of each. destiny and bella-that's awesome ur babies have taken steps...kj is so close but he gets scared and plops right back down and goes back to standing and cruising around everything lol! I'm sure it will be soon though.

Kodyz boo - Tuesday, 17 Jan
oh and bella-i wish i could say i was 5'7 lol but im 5'3 and weigh 120 lbs lol!!! I started at 125 gained like 28 and went back down within two weeks to my normal weight and since then with nursing i lost an additional five lbs and just been maintaining that.

Kodyz boo - Tuesday, 17 Jan
KJ had his 9 month appt on the 11th and he was 16lbs 6 oz and hes not 26 and a half inches long!!! He's still so tiny but he's getting bigger everyday! He's been standing holding on to things since 6 months and hes starting to not hold on to anything for a good minute. Im thinking he will be walking by ten months like his mommy was but we will have to see. Still working on that second baby but nothing yet. Im still waiting to see if im ovulating yet since ive only gotten one real period since having him but now that he's only nursing four times a day maybe that will make me ovulate regularly again...heres hoping lol!

adrihorwat - Monday, 16 Jan
Hi ladies! I'm on facebook. Name is Adriana Horwat. It'd be nice to add you, guys. Went for Matthew's 9 month check up and he's 18.8 lbs now and 72 cm. He's so smart and funny and so busy the whole day. He stands for a few seconds on his own then goes down with no support at all. I'm thinking walking is not too far now since he walks pretty well while we hold one of his hands. We keep doors closed at home and he stands in front of them trying to reach for the door knob because he knows that's how you open doors. lol he's hilarious!

rbrencur - Monday, 16 Jan
Emmas 10 months and still not walking and I am so anxious for her to but I think it will be a while. We have a BOY in my belly! Woowoohoo!! so excited. now to fid a name. but he weighed 11oz and was 5.9inches. so measuring good and a little heavy. I like it as emma was so teeny, really hoping this baby is alot bigger than emmas teeny 5lb 4oz!!

bayshay25 - Monday, 16 Jan
