Townes Brocks Syndrome


Townes-Brocks syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects various parts of the body.

Common symptoms of Townes-Brocks syndrome include an imperforate anus, abnormalities in the hand and thumb, abnormally shaped ears, kidney complications, hearing loss, heart complications, genital abnormalities and occasionally, mental retardation and learning disabilities.

There is no cure for the disorder and treatment is available for individual symptoms.

My friends baby was born with townes brocks syndrome She had an extra thumb growing out of her normal thumb.. My friends partner didnt think he had any symptoms but my friend was worried during pregnancy as his sister had quite bad symptoms, imperforate anus, mental isues and learning disabilities, abnormally shaped ears,and hearing loss, my friend was very worried but luckily her daughter just had an extra thumb which with surgery a year later they removed she went on to have a second child last year with no symptoms.. When the specialist saw my fiends partner he noticed funny shaped thumbs and said he had a mild form
