mamakristin`s poll Show results | Hide results

Name-poll poll I want to put my maiden last name in my sons name as like a second middle name. My husband does not like it. His name, as of now will be Brayson Jonathan Brown, but i would like it to be Brayson Jonathan Burkett Brown. He would still be just Brayson Brown, but i am really proud of my family and i want him to be a part of that. Do you think that is wrong of me?

That's rude. Dont put your Maiden name in there. Its an insult to your husband.
I think you should put your maiden name in his name if you want to.

I think you should do that! I did that with my lil girl. She has my last name as her second, after all she also my daughter!!!:P

My husband has 2 middle names and it has caused him problems his whole life! His parents regret it.

To squash your husbands argument ask him how would he feel if you chose to hyphenate the name rather than using it as a just a middle name. BTW I like Brayson Burkett Brown. I agree with Marrisa, it does sound like a nice strong name.

There`s nothing rude about it. I do know a family or two that have done it. But as a bystander, I often wish I had some guidance when addressing a letter to the family, especially an invitation or holiday card, which is meant for all of them. Three family members and they all have different last names! It`s my own background and bias that family members share a name as part of their identity, but I see that other families just work differently. I fully support `different,` but if you go with something non-traditional, then you might find a way to let folks know how you`d like to be addressed as a group--mostly so people that love you don`t worry about insulting you by getting it wrong.

ya i agree I like the sound of Brayson Burkett Brown. thats a real stong name. Let me know wat u decide.!!!

what about taking Johnathan out and using just burkett or burke. That would sound a little more smoothly. Just my opinion

niknak (1821.3 days ago)
Seems like a good idea, but it doesn`t sound....smooth. Everyones names get shortened, so I would keep it to 3 names only. If I had 4 names, I would just end up never using one of them for legal reasons...filling out papers that only have room for the traditional 3 names. I agree with the other comment, leave out Jonathon.

babymullin (1821.3 days ago)
I don`t think it`s wrong either way. I just think 4 names is a lot for anyone.

mamakristin (1821.3 days ago)
no, my husband wouldnt go for that because Jonathan is his middle name, and that would be taking out his middle name for my last name. But great idea.

What about Burke as a middle name alone?

  8. HELP - my 3 year old daughter is developing a phobia to fluff! I feel responsible, I have a ridiculous phobia of bees and wasps - to the point it hinders my ability to enjoy playing out in the garden during the summer, it`s detrimental. My kids have picked up on this and are sh*t scared of bees and wasps, but with my daughter it was soon spiders, then ants and now, tiny black bits of fluff - which she finds all over; on her pillow etc. It`s genuine terror in her face as she screams she can see them moving and they`re `going to get her` or `bite her`. What do I do? She`s old enough to be reasoned with that they don`t move and we pick most of them off before bedtime, but she wakes in the night and starts crying that `The Fluff`s coming...!!` How can I help her? Do you think this is just a phase or do you think it`s worth seeking some sort of external, professional help to nip this in the bud? I HATE the thought of passing on my phobias and anxieties to my children - it`s no way to live to be a constant worrier about things beyond your control and I;ve suffered with anxiety and panick attacks for nearing 6 years now and can`t ever remember just feeling `normal` and `well` - I can`t remember my life before my first panick attack. This is NOT what I want for my children...
  9. On Facebook I saw one of those like pictures, a mom who sent her child to school for days wearing out of style `ugly` clothes because she was bullying another girl about her clothes. Mom`s yourselves, what do you think of this type of punishment?
  10. Can anyone relate? My 4 year old is making all sorts of amazing connections which is great that he`s thinking about the world, but some of his thoughts are quite deep. He`s a natural born worrier (gets that from me!) and I try to protect him from as much as I can but there`s things that can`t be avoided. Ie, ever since Easter, he`s been plagued with fear about getting holes in him like Jesus (he learnt it at Kindy). Well just this evening he came out with `Why do you and Margo (Grandma) have holes in your ears like Jesus? Did you get your ears nailed to a cross?` He`s also obsessed with the fear of death.
