Other-poll poll Family diner....
(Other poll by frenchie23, 528 days ago)
We value family diner because its important to have a 30-40 min of family time everyday, no tv, no computer or cellphone just good old conversation time
DH and I dont have the same schedule but I would like to have family diner every night
I dont see any value in family diners, we eat in front of the tv everynight
hummmm.. I think I'm gonna start having family diner everynight ;)

In our house we have dinner every single night at the table together.... 7 days a week, very few exceptions. No cell phones, no sitting in front of the tv, etc. I was brought up in a home where us kids ate at the table alone for as long as I remember- while my mom and her bf say in front of the tv....it always made me sad, so I am very insistent on having family meals with my own children.

We don`t do them at the moment. I was raised having a family dinner every night as was DH but he works nights so we aren`t often together. On the nights that we are things are typically rushed and we eat in front of the TV. Once the kids are a bit older though I fully intend to make family dinner manditory.

Right now I live with my parents and they rarely cook so when we eat, it`s usually me and my daughter at the table, with my parents eating when they want to but in the family room while on their computers :P. But when i go to my SO`s house we always eat at the table together, whether it`s a nice meal or not. I love it :)

I put DH`s cell in the kitchen cupboard before dinner & give it back after. If he`s glued to a ballgame, all I have to say is, `You`d best get in here if you wanna taste momma`s cookin` or your gonna go to bed hungry.` I follow through, & between my southern Meemaw & Northern Gradma, I learned to be a mean cook (God Bless them-I loved my Grandmas :`(-they taught me alot). <3 DH LOVES my cooking, which makes it a bit easier, but it took a few yrs. of training to get to this level. He also KNOWS not to read or anything else at the table, & if he gets home early enough, recently started setting the table!! :) Some nights he works late, then I feed DD, put her to bed, & eat late w/ him. We do Breakfast together most mornings, and on his day off, (usually Sunday) we do lunch. I love my hubby<3

Family dinner is very important to me And we always enjoy dinner together although once in a while it will be in front of the tv if something good is on or it`s take out and movie night type thing.

We sit at the table most nights, but some nights we`ll watch a movie while eating. There`s not usually much discussion either way - the boys are all jamming food in their faces. :D

I was raised with a family dinner where you had all be there and no one better answer the phone during it. I am happy to say my family is the same way-if my husband tries to sneak in a text message I turn into a crazy lady.

We have family diner every night but some nights I do have to `make` my SO sit at the table if he`s in the middle of a mission on his game or a good movie... That`s what the PVR is for hunny!!! maybe once a week we`ll eat in the living room, but I was raised that family diner is very important in order to talk about our day or bring up anything we want to discuss or simly to enjoy each others company without distractions... My SO will have the newspaper during breakfeast on his days off :P but we all sit together at the table anyways and I have fun with DD (11months)

I would love to have a distraction free dinner! My husband reads the newspaper at dinner time. I try to get a convo started up with us (our daughter is 2) like getting our DD to tell him about our etc etc. I dont think Ill get him to put the paper away ever. If it`s not the paper then it`s the darn iPhone!!

  1. I`m not sure where to post this. I just found out that I am 1-2 weeks pregnant. Anyone else find out that they`re pregnant this early on? If so please leave a comment. I took a test Friday-I did not have much urine to give but I took one anyway and the test came back positive the lines were extremely bold. I took a digital test yesterday and got a question mark. I took two today and it was positive but the lines were faint. I went to the doctor today. They did a blood and urine sample. Those came back positive. If you found out you were pregnant really early on please comment.

  10. DH and I are talking about trying for another baby in a few months. Is it too soon to start picking up a few packs of diapers here and there when they are on sale? I know it sounds crazy to buy baby things when I`m not even pregnant but I thought it would help on saving money later on when I am pregnant. With my DD I didn`t buy anything at all until I was out of the first trimester, but she wasn`t planned either. I probably won`t have a baby shower this time so we`ll have to buy more things on our own now. Whats your opinion?
