I worked for a plastic surgeon for 8 yrs and we did otoplasty on several young children. All tolerated the procedure very well and were excited at post-op visits. I do believe 7yrs was the youngest.

My brother has the same thing and I know he would have wanted my parents to give him a surgery. By the time he was able to do it himself and offort it I don`t think it was as big of a deal to him anymore, but school years/teenage years sure were difficult. Good luck with whatever you decide.

hmmmm.... hard call I have 3 boys. I don`t think I would alter my childs appearance because it bothers ME. I would wait until he said it bothers him. You may make him very self concious of his imperfections. Unless your doctor suggests you do so, me, I wouldn`t.

This poll is very interesting to me. The man I am pregnant from has ears that stick out like crazy! He always hated them when I dated him when we were younger but I loved him so much and I thought they were cute. I think he`s okay with them now that he`s grown up but has mentioned that he wished he had the surgery when he was younger. I am now carrying his son and I`ve wondered what I will do if his son has his ears (he has 2 other daughters and they both have his ears). I think it`s harder for a boy because they don`t have long hair that they can hide behind and I was told that he got made fun of A LOT as a child and even on through high school. I say do it...?

I think you should ask him and if he says yes then i would def. do it. Kids can be mean. And if it`s something that you think he will have to deal with in the future then i think you should take care of it now. Look how better it made you feel about yourself! Good luck!

I wish to god that my parents had done that for me.They of course kept saying `they`re fine` by the time I was an adult the cost was just too much,I went years without ever wearing a ponytail etc.

Hi I had a friend who had the same thing she ended up getting the surgery also she was about 16 & had never worn her hair down & always covered them when people would make fun of her(usually guys) she would just say she loved her ears. But a soon as she got her surgery she had amazing confidence and dated a lot she is the most outgoing girl i know maybe you should ask Gavin if he wants his ears to look like they do or not. Hope that helps

  4. Some weird things have been happening today, and I`m afraid I`m just working myself up. First, I went potty this morning, and after I was done peeing, I had another small amount of liquid come out. Not sure if it was pee. Then, my c-sect incision from my last baby started hurting really bad. (I had the c-sect 10 mo`s ago, and I`m a little over 32 weeks now) However, the incision feels fine now. Should I go get checked out?
