I say don`t use it, my daughter`s middle name is Ann after my mother... and my mother-in-laws middle name is Ann. She keeps telling my 8 year old how she was named after her which is NOT the case and I made this clear to her when I chose the name. It drives me nuts and like your MIL mine went overboard on everything baby related. I love the name you chose but I think you might regret it in the long run.

ajmay- You and I think alike. I told my husband she`ll probably get over it in a few months. She drives him crazy sometimes and he`s afraid she`ll just go on and on. With our son, she commented on his name for about 6 months, then got over it. Our other choice would be Lilly???

I named my daughter Lillian, this was before I had met my partner`s great aunt who was also named Lillian, my MIL told this woman I named the baby after her, I never had the heart to tell her because she was so elated. If I would have met her first I still would have named her Lillian, I`ve always loved that name......

I think Gracie is an awesome name...just so happens that is what we are naming our little girl. Who cares if she thinks it`s because of her...she will love it that much more!! :) Good Luck!

hopefully shes not like that. my MIL`s name is Anne and thats my daughters middle name she never said anything although that might be because my name is Ana.

I would skip the name if your MIL is that way. I`d blow my lid and scream at her if I had to hear it one more time and it sucks because you`ll look like the @$$ for not just letting her `feel good about her namesake.` Good luck.
