Brittany ~ my son HAD to be supplimented with formula while I was BF because he was severe jaundice. He was never confused and certainly didnt get an upset stomach so your statement isnt accurate that it cant be both. I cant BF because I have blood in my milk and personally not every mom who BF`s is a healthy eater/ drinker etc etc so to say it is the the best is assuming all moms are offering the same nutrients to their babies. My boys are 12 and 7 and had breast milk for about a week or two plus forumla at the same time and they are both healthy. I know some babies who were BF and are unhealthy and have asthma, allergies etc. So breast milk doesnt always make it best. I do agree it is wonderful to do if you can and certainly does help in so many ways but its a personal choice and not one you have a right to pass judgement on ~

my daughter was born with a heart desiese and was too weak to nurse, so I pumped for about 3 months. She had to have open heart surgery at 10 weeks and because of the stress and such my milk started to dry up. Because of all the pressure to breastfeed I felt sooo terrible about giveing her formula. I sobed for days, but I gave it to her and she was fine. With this baby I hope to breastfeed only because I cant afford the formula!! and I hate dealing with bottles ofter doing it for the last two years, but your baby will do fine either way!! dont worry to much about it!

I plan to breastfeed simply because I will be staying at home for awhile,it`s so much cheaper, less gas, less diarhea, no worries about warming formula at 3am.My sister never breastfed her son, although she probably could have if the nurses didn`t harass her so much, and he is fine,it`s a personal choice.

ummm im gonna formula feed my baby not for medical reasons but its just that thats what most women in my family have done so thats whats in my mind is right for me!

Sometimes a Mama can`t breastfeed and the world making you feel guilty about it is horrible. I wasn`t breastfed and neither were my siblings. We are smart, successful and well adjusted. Go figure. I used to work with a girl that breastfed and she smoked, but breastmilk is best! :)

and for the record.. I went to that site the other girl listed and the article is written by a woman who is a writer not a doctor (so essentially it is her opinion with some quotes from real doctors in it)

Well I`m not even sure if I`ll be able to breast feed, (sorry if TMI) I have semi-inverted nipples.. I`d call them more like flat nipples.. they do stick out when they get hard, but they dont stay out all the time. Plus, I`m in the military and only get 6 weeks of maternity leave before I go back, so I dont know if I could how long I could keep up with pumping or even if I`d pump enough.. etc. Honestly I think its the mothers choice whether or not to breastfeed v. formula feed and I hate IT when people preach that breast is best without even knowing you. Obviously formula is out there for a reason so its got to be ok for babies.

I know this is a touchy subject for some and for those who chose to breastfeed verses formula, please be nice and respect their choices.

Please visit this site if you are thinking of formula feeding instead of breast feeding http://www.fda.gov/Fdac/features/895_brstfeed.html

You can`t switch between formula and breast milk, it will upset the babys stomach. And I don`t know why anyone would want to feed their baby formula unless it`s for a medical reason! Breast milk is what babies need, it has anti-bodies in it that protect the baby from illness and it gets perfectly digested in babies bellies, unlike formula. breast milk is SO MUCH better!!! Unless you have to, PLEASE give your baby the best start in life and feed it the food nature intended!!!

First, I went potty this morning, and after I was done peeing, I had another small amount of liquid come out. Not sure if it was pee. Then, my c-sect incision from my last baby started hurting really bad. (I had the c-sect 10 mo`s ago, and I`m a little over 32 weeks now) However, the incision feels fine now. Should I go get checked out?
