Baby-poll poll If I have a girl I love the name `Liv` after Liv Tyler, but my husband like `Olivia` better, he got to name out son, so is it silly to name a child after someone you admire?

I think you should go with the name you like best. You are the one that has to live with it for the rest of your life. Plus if your hubby got to name his first child then he should have no say in this name. My hubby named our son and i am 19 weeks and he will not have a choice what the name will be. So if you like Liv go for it.

Name her Olivia and call her Liv :)

I would bet that her real name is Olivia. That was one of my names if our baby was a girl. But HIS name will be William!

I met Liv Tyler when she spilled hot coffee on me in front of the Gugenheim. She said she was sorry.

My oldest is named Olivia and we have always called her Liv for short! I love that name!

I like Liv without Olivia. Olivia is one of the top names given to girls in the US so I think it is pretty cool to choose something more unique. No offense to the Olivias of the world it is a beautiful name. :) Either way I hope you and your husband come to happy decision.

What if you name her Olivia... and call her Liv for short? It works perfectly with both names =)

I dont think its stupid to name your child after an actress if thats what you want to do. Noone even has to know thats where you got Liv from. For some reason I always liked longer names that could be shortened for a nickname, so I`d go with Olivia and call her Liv but thats just me :) I had this same argument.. my husband has a daughter from a previous marriage and he got to name her (this is my first, so I thought I should get to name her) :) plus he had his first at a young age, he was 18 (almost 7 years ago), so he named her after a girl he thought was HOT in highschool lol, well this time, atleast I know we`re naming our daughter after my middle name :)

I think it`s okay to name your child after someone you admire. At least Liv Tyler isn`t somebody like Brittany Spears or some other drama case. And, she is quite beautiful. Although Olivia is very popular now, it`s still pretty and yeah, you could just call her Liv.

I wouldn`t name my child after an actress, but I would name my child after some other type of person that I admire. With respect to the names Liv and Olivia... I think Olivia is prettier, albeit super popular. But I like that you can name your child Olivia and call her Liv if that suits you. With regard to your husband naming your first child, it`s my opinion that you should be able to name the second child...

  1. Does anyone have a baby with a double-first name? Like David-James? My friend wants to give her baby a double name but she isn`t sure how to fill it out on the birth certificate. She wants it to be David-James and that is what she will call him but she also wants to give him a middle name. Does she need to put a hyphen? We would appreciate any help with this as no one seems to know. Thanks
