they say soft cheese....if its pasturized its fine tho...most cheese if pasturized so just check almost all sliced cheese if fine but go ahead and read up on it or ask your doctor if it makes you feel better

Yes, soft cheeses are the one`s you are supposed to stay away from.

American cheese is a-okay, but stay away from soft cheeses (except cream cheese, that`s okay). I know two women that were both more than six months pregnant that got listeria from a soft cheese at a party. They both lost their babies. Thank God I didn`t go to that pary, because up until then, I thought all of this avoiding foods was B.S. American cheese is usually ultra-pasturized so it`s probably the safest bet.

American Cheese is safe during pregnancy. Cottage cheese, ricotta, cream cheese, processed cheeses (such as American) and hard cheeses (such as cheddar and parmesan), as well as cultured dairy products like yogurt and buttermilk, are generally considered to be safe. And most dairy products made in the USA are pasteurized anyway. But since there`s no guarantee, it`s best to check the label and make sure that any dairy products consumed during pregnancy are made with pasteurized milk. Listeria is serious, and is the reaosn why certain cheeses are not to be consumed. There`s a link on my website, towards the bottom regarding Listeria bacteria. The room moderator posted it there since your child could be born dead if you take Listeria bacteria lightely -- it happened to one woman in that posts to this site. Her story is posted on the Listeria forum page.

Hmm I`m pretty sure American cheese is ok. The only cheeses I have stayed away from are soft cheeses and the Mexican queso cheese (which has been hard, I love that stuff!).

Well in that case I violated that a million times. I love american cheese with almost everything I eat. I`ve never heard of that.

  5. i found a lump on Grace`s thigh a couple days ago, and it didnt bother her then for me to feel around for it but today when i felt for it she didn`t like me to touch it. i know that sometimes with shots a baby can get a lump where the shot was done but she hasn`t had shots since she was six months. i know that it wasn`t there before because i rub her down with lotion almost everyday. i am going to the ergent care clinic tomorrow because i am concerned but i am scared that i am thinking all this horrible stuff for no reason. should i be worried or could it just be from the shots???
