arielova (338.3 days ago)I got my flu shot a few weeks ago, it wasn`t the normal flu shot, it is a special variety for pregnant women. To me, the pros outweigh the cons.
aliciah (338.4 days ago)I got one already but there`s a comment on here that says that it`s the same flu shot as everyone else gets, but I was specifically told that I was receiving a different flu shot that`s given to pregnant/breastfeeding women. There are certain preservatives or something like that that are not in the one given to pregnant/breastfeeding women.
lisar (338.5 days ago)I was advised by two different doctors that pregnant women should absolutely get the flu shot. My OB said the pros outweight the cons by alot when you consider the complications of flu on an unborn baby. If you`re worried about the mercury you can find places that give thermisol free shots.
purrrrrcat (338.6 days ago)my midwife advised me not to have one she said you should weigh up the pros and cons
pregosharpe (338.7 days ago)I`ve already had mine this year too, the military gave me mine. I had mine at 37-38wks.... they don`t give out the same shot for pregnant women as they do everyone else, and most people cant even get the flu shot unless theyre over a certain age, pregnant or have kids under a certain age. They usually give out the flumist now. I had no complications with the shot. I don`t believe all the `recent medical studies` because every study has another one to counter it, just like diet coke causes cancer now? I find it hard to believe.. just personal opinion.
summerisis (338.7 days ago)I am not getting one because I don`t get sick (like I`ve had the flu once in 22 years) but I found this tidbit after reading a blip on someone`s page --> Flu infections are blamed for about 36,000 deaths in the United States every year. There’s some evidence that flu is also partly responsible for the winter surge in heart attacks and stroke. A flu infection can increase blood pressure, stir up white blood cell activity, and change C-reactive protein and fibrinogen levels in the blood. All are bad news for your heart. Several studies have shown that flu shots seem to cut heart attack and stroke risk in half. <-- I had no idea! I`m not worried about my blood pressure either. I just didn`t know why there was a such a `push` to give shots to pregnant women!
