Name-poll poll We like unique names, but we also like the name Sophie. Do you think that too many people are naming their little girls this for us to consider? We don`t want our little girl to be one of many of the same name.

You can go to the Social Security website and it can tell you how many girls were named Sophie or Sophia last year. It can also break it down by state. I`m not positive, but I believe it was in the top 20.

oh man, i asked this question too... i didnt know anyone named Sophia/Sofia and i really liked the name, but then all of the sudden i`m running into all these ppl who are also pregnant who say they are going to name their baby Sophie too!! lol. Good luck with whatever you decide, i know its super hard!

in 2006 Sophia was ranked #9. lots of people who name their girls Sophia end up calling them Sophie as a nickname. here`s a website to check popularity of baby names: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

In 2006 the name Sophie was given to 2349 babies making it the 136 name that year.
