cko1522`s poll Show results | Hide results

Baby-poll poll Hey, if you are going to give birth during flu/cold season, are you planning to let people hold and kiss your baby? My husband and I are disgreeing about this...he thinks I`m being paranoid, I`m due in February.
(Baby poll by cko1522, 308 days ago)
Yes, others holding and kissing him is fine.
Holding is ok, but NO KISSING

I got the impression that you were asking about people in general, during flu season, not necessarily sick people. I think it`s a given that sick people should stay away -- family or not. It would be most rude to be insistant if one were sick. If you`re just talking about people regardless of whether or not they have flu-like symptoms, I guess I that would focus on the hand-washing and forhead kisses like other women have recommended. Seriously, in my opinion, the desires of a sick family member are trumped by the needs/desires of a new mommy to pretect her infant.

It depends on the situation, sick sick people shouldnt be over, if they are family and you really want them there be sure they wash their hands and no kisses, if it is a child or anyone coughing alot I say no holding and no kisses.

My fiance and I both have had really bad colds to where we were both out of work. Addison never got sick.. She is breastfed. It is a great thing if you are deciding to do it. I formula feed and breast feed, that way I can get away too.

If someone is sick.. they shouldn`t be around the baby or in the house. They should respect you and the baby. Other than that .. people holding and kissing should be fine as long as they wash their hands.

if the person is obviously sick i wouldnt let them touch the baby, but my thing is is they should atleast wash their hands b4 holding the baby

I`m due in Feb also. I`m going to let people kiss him and hold him as long as they`re not sick or getting sick. I`ll also be breastfeeding to prevent infections. I`m a fan of handwashing for everyone including him, but I`m wary about overuse of antibacterial agents and general germaphobia. Every germaphobe I know has major allergy problems (not to mention anxiety). My answe: safety in moderation.

I tell everyone who wants to hold my newborn to wash their hands first! And kisses only on the forehead. My son is 15 months and my MIL tries to kiss him on his mouth, I am right there yelling about germs. When it comes to my kids getting sick who cares if I hurt someones feelings. I HATE when I go to a store and someone touches my babys hand. Keep antibacterial with you.

if you are breastfeeding your baby with get a natural immunity from you and will be fine... if people are obviously ill tho i wouldnt let them in the door lol after all you dont want to get sick when you have a new baby

I am also due in February and I will probably be really picky about people who hold my son. Of course if someone is sick they won`t be allowed to even come over and then I will probably make the people who do hold him use anibacterial hand sanitizer.

  5. i found a lump on Grace`s thigh a couple days ago, and it didnt bother her then for me to feel around for it but today when i felt for it she didn`t like me to touch it. i know that sometimes with shots a baby can get a lump where the shot was done but she hasn`t had shots since she was six months. i know that it wasn`t there before because i rub her down with lotion almost everyday. i am going to the ergent care clinic tomorrow because i am concerned but i am scared that i am thinking all this horrible stuff for no reason. should i be worried or could it just be from the shots???
