carlsonlove757 (303.3 days ago)In California-I think this is the way it works, not 100% positive, but almost-the father can take up to 6 weeks unpaid paternity leave, but their company has to be so large and have so many employees and they have to have been at the current job for at least a year. My husband switched jobs about 5 months ago and will not fall under this law, so he is taking his accrued 2 weeks vacation plus we were able to buy 5 extra days of vacation. It kind of sucks that it is not given to him by the company and that he has to use his vacation time and then buy extra time, but I am just grateful that we are able to work it out and that I am able to have him here with us for the first 3 weeks.
mommy jen (303.7 days ago)In Canada fathers are able to apply for parental leave and they can have up to 32 to 35 weeks but if the mother is working also they have to share that time. The mother can take the full year if the father chooses not to take the time.
jenny504 (304.2 days ago)i get a year off hubby may get 1 day off.
9mo (304.2 days ago)My husband gets something like two days paid paternity leave. He will be due for annual leave when baby arrives and is going to take 3 or 4 weeks off as annual leave.
Tiger21 (304.3 days ago)Most companies in the USA are not accommodating to new mothers or fathers. A friend of mine moved to Sweden to work and is now expecting her first baby. She gets a year paid maternity 80% salary. and a 125.00 a month to help with things they may need. I`s pay the extra taxes so that more families could raise their children without stress.
jeanette (304.3 days ago)I wish more companies offered paternity leave.
pregosharpe (304.3 days ago)My husband got 1 week off, but since I had my baby a week late she came the week of Thanksgiving so he was already getting that Thurs/Friday off so they let him have the week after off as well. He was home with me for 2 weeks before he had to go back, I only have 3 more weeks of maternity leave until I have to go back :(
