nicolefeb08 (1517.1 days ago) I just wanted an opinion besides my own : ) It was about my cousin and they induced her at 38 wks. He was 7 lb 3 oz.
KatSue (1520.5 days ago) Ultrasound weight estimates are not correct most of the time- usually they are pretty far off. Hey, even if you do have an 8 or 9 lb baby it`s all chub on them! It`s not like their bones have the massive growth spurt at the end- the just put on their chubbys! That means they will be nice and squishy= probly slide right out! My grandma`s easiest delivery was her biggest baby- he was 11 lbs. Her smallest was 6 lbs, and he was the hardest. I wouldn`t be induced. Like many have said- the risks go up, money goes up, basically all the bad stuff goes up. When that baby is ready to get here, he/she will get here!
bigtummiedbeyotch (1520.6 days ago) I personally am a firm believer in doc knows best.
jeanette (1520.6 days ago) the average weight for 34 weeks is 4.73 lbs. Keep an eye on it, the ultrasound is frequently wrong. Come up with a plan A and a plan B and insist in extra ultrasounds. In the mean time, cut down on sugar (the main thing that will make your babe large). No more cakes, cookies, ice cream, soda, or other sweatened drinks, or candy. Good luck.
LisaReader (1520.7 days ago) I wouldn`t do it. Induction is risky, but a lot of doctors don`t inform their patients of the risks because a sheduled induction is 1) easier for their schedule, and 2) they make a LOT more money off an induction than a vaginal birth. Also, being induced greatly increases your chances of having a c-section, which is major surgery with a lengthy recovery time. Plus, weight estimates from ultrasounds are just that ... estimates. They`re like due dates - it`s all really just a guess, and they`re wrong all the time.
Jaidensmom (1520.7 days ago) I wouldn`t do it. First of all U/S are not acturate when it comes to baby`s weight. And second, inductions often end up with having a C-section and contractions are stronger with inductions. Unless you are completely miserable or have a health problem, i wouldn`t do it. let nature take it`s course.
mommymeg (1520.7 days ago) I was induced due to big babies TWICE! While I dont regret being induced because everything went really good and fast for me, both times...looking back.. my babies were `suppose` to be huge at I think 36 or 37 week u/s...My first son was born veginal one day past due date at 8 lbs 10 oz (I was fine) and my 2nd was only 7lbs 13 oz again, one day past due date...I dont think I needed to be induced and those u/s can be up to a LB off either way is what I was told...I would say if shes worried go for it, (at a reasonable week) and if shes not worried, many woman have given veginal birth to 10 and 11 lb babies...I think maybe its the Dr`s and all their own beliefs on whether to induce...not sure
MJamison (1520.8 days ago) 6lbs is not a big baby nowadays... at what week does he want to induce??? I would personally would wait unless maybe the mother is really scared about labor.. then maybe.. but I would wait. at least till 37 weeks!
monica9 (1520.9 days ago) they said my neice was already 8 lbs at 38 weeks. she ended up being only low 7 lbs. so i would wait alittle bit then decide in a couple weeks.
