just out of curiosity...how do you know when your dialated and effaced, i haven`t had any docs check that yet and I`m 27wk 5days. Do they start checking this pretty soon?? (comment my page please)

my cuz went into preterm labor at 22wks she had to stay in the hospital for up to 2 wks and they gave her medicane to develope his lungs quicker and she had him nov 15th and he wasnt due til the 17th of dec. and they had to keep him in the NICU for 2 wks...so ya yours sounds as if its going to come early!

I was dialted to 1 at 28 weeks. I went into labor at 33 weeks, go tthe shot and was able to hold out until 37 weeks, but on bed rest. I had constant contractions, it was terrible. From 33- 37 weeks I was dialted to 5!

I had the same problem. I started to dilate at 24 weeks and was worried the baby was going to be born early. I had to take it easy and try to stay stress free. 2 weeks ago I started to leak water and was dilated to 3. I was hospitalized for 5 days and put on penicillian. Now I`m going to be 37 weeks tomorrow. So you never exactly know how you will do. Just be careful and try to take it easy... I thank god everyday I made it this far.

my friend went through the exact same thing, but at 30 weeks. she was put on bed rest and had to get shot to develop lungs. she also had meds she took every 6 hours that stopped contractions, which she was getting. They took her off of the meds at 36 weeks, and she didnt go into labor until 39 weeks, so you never know what could happen.

I`m 33 weeks and 2 cm dilated, I got the same shot. The docs also think that I will have this baby early...but I also have a history with preterm labor. I hope the best for you and your baby when the time comes.

It really all depends. I began dilating and thinning at 24 weeks. I was 1cm and 50% dilated then. Im 28 weeks now and there`s been no change since. Sometimes you can dilate and thin out early, but walk around for weeks at a few cm`s dilated. Just take it easy and try to keep that bundle in there as long as possible!
