I didn`t get meassured until i was about 25 weeks, so i don`t think they start until it gets closer to the big day...although a lot of people get it done earlier too...it might depend on the country you`re in. I wouldn`t worry, or you could just ask at your next apt. either way they`ll start measuring sooner or later! Good luck!

The doctor will measure you mostly to make sure that you and the baby are growing appropriately. My doctor first measured me with this pregnancy at 24 weeks. I`ve always measured small but the doctor is not concerned as long as the growth is consistent and the difference between the measurement and the number of weeks is not too extreme. As for changing due dates, they are such an approximation anyway and an ultrasound will be done rather than rely solely on the measurement with the tape if there is reason for concern. Even though I measured small I didn`t make it to any of my due dates with my first three children.

They feel for the to of your uterus, then put a measuring tape from the top of your pubic bone to the top of your uterus. I was measuring large for about a month, then evened out.

well at my last appointment.. my doctor actually measured me... but how they measure you is when they push on your stomach..it is where they can feel your uterus from your belly bottom.. like an inch below your belly bottom you are about 16 weeks.. an inch above.. you are 24 weeks! things like that!

Babies develop at different rates and speeds, so the sonographers always measure the babies to see if they are measuring to their dates.... Like, at my 20 week scan the babies were measuring about 21 weeks... it just means that nobody develops exactly according to the rates that we are given! just like some thirteen-year-olds are still tiny, and others have already shot up tall! xx

FUNNY YOU ASK THAT, i AM 23 WEEKS TOMORROW AND AT MY 21/22 WEEK APPOiNTMENT, THE DOCTOR SAiD SHE WAS MEASURiNG THE BABYS HEAD AND SHE MEASURED iT WiTH HER FiNGERS ON MY STOMACH. i THOUGHT SHE WAS CRAZY LOL, BUT i GUESS THATS jUST WHAT THEYRE SUPPOSED TO DO. SHE SAiD THAT NEXT TiME SHE WiLL BRiNG OUT THE MEASURiNG TAPE, WHEN iM BiGGER =D
