How do they handle discipline? Also, work out beforehand holidays, vacation time, sick time, etc. Whether these days will be paid or unpaid.

Here`s another link to an interview sheet -- http://www.babycenter.com/0_nanny-interview-sheet_1450905.bc I think it`s also helpful when a nanny had Early Childhood Education courses and/or a Teaching Credential. You want someone that understands a child`s mind -- not just a full-time baby sitter.

here`s a helpful website: http://loveourchildrenusa.org/nannies_sitters_safety.php

ask them about their experience, what they would do for diciplinary measures (time out or whatever), what they are willing to do around the house (cook, clean, laundry etc) ask for references and actually call them!! ask to see their cpr and first aid certificates. umm there is tons of stuff to ask! just think about what kind of care you would want for your child and develop questions around that.. what kind of infant programming they will do etc.

i would ask them about general care, do they share the same views as you do? what will they do when baby cries? what about sleep, do they believe in controlled crying? it is really important to get someone on the same wavelength as you, if you go to a reputable agency, they will have insured all of their nanny`s are properly trained with good references, although you may want to speak with past employers for your peace of mind. and yes install a nanny-cam, with or without their knowledge
