My doctor prescribed me a pump, so my insurance paid for it in full. They bought me a double electric Medela pump in style that came with the carry case and everything. It retailed for $310. I love it and when I get a chance to pump I usually can get 5oz from both breasts.

My doctor said the hospital will sell me a Medela for the price they paid for it. He told me $160. I haven`t got the details on if it`s a dual or not, but he talked real highly of it.

I rented the Medela for $40 a month and just as summerisis said- it retails for $1000. It was a good and effective pump. My advice is to rent one of these- don`t mess around with cheap crap. It will hurt you physically and can screw up your milk supply and take longer to pump. If you purchase one on your own, invest in a good one- plan to spend a few hundred dollars.

I hear that you can rent them from the hospitals -- Medela Double. I am going to wait and not buy one until I`m either at the hospital (because they sell them) or after I am at home...But I hear that you can rent the Double, which sells for $1,000.

  1. Does anyone have a baby with a double-first name? Like David-James? My friend wants to give her baby a double name but she isn`t sure how to fill it out on the birth certificate. She wants it to be David-James and that is what she will call him but she also wants to give him a middle name. Does she need to put a hyphen? We would appreciate any help with this as no one seems to know. Thanks
