R-N-E-Bump (1484 days ago) I cannot find a diaper service in my area, but I have still decided to use cloth. I am using Kushies Ultra cloth diapers. These are all-in-ones, meaning you do not have to use a separate plastic cover. They can go directly into your washer and dryer and they come out without any staining (at least so far!). My friend used these on her son and she saved a TON of money. They were very easy to use and have held up very well. I purchased mine at Walmart.com. They are between $5-7 depending on the size you need...but if you do the math, disposables add up VERY quickly. When your baby outgrows the smaller size, you can resell them on Ebay for almost as much as you paid and then use that money to buy the next size up. I hope this helps!
mitzumama (1489.3 days ago) We have chosen to use cloth this time and we are very excited about it. Our local diaper service charges 15.95 per month and that supplies 70 diapers. Disposables cost $13 - $14 dollars for a package of 20- 34 diapers. The service picks up, delivers and washes the diapers for you. The only costly thing about it is the diaper covers you`ll need to purchase. However, you only have to buy them once and you can ask for them for your baby shower. they cost $7 - $13 dollars each. You will need to get at least twelve to start. Cloth diapered babies generally potty train sooner. People save thousands of dollars diapering in cloth, plus, disposable diapers are the nations largest land filler. The sewage in the diapers drains into the land fill and into our ground water. Toxic sewage from any other source makes us think, hum that`s not good. But often we forget about how diapers contribute to environmental issues because they seem so harmless. The way diaper services take the hassle out of cloth diapers makes it a lot easier to avoid adding to the land fill/toxic sewage issue. when the baby is changes regularly, they experience less diaper rashes and cotton is so much better than plastic...ANY DAY!
Sorry I had so much to say. I just learned a whole lot about this choice and am really proud to have decided on cloth after using disposables for my two older children.
