It`s very very rare for Breastfed babies to become constipated. Often breastfed babies have fewer poops at around two months. It`s normal for a breastfed baby to have a poop once every 7-12 days. Like someone said, if they`re soft they`re fine. Don`t give any other than breastmilk to baby. In fact increasing frequency of feeding may actually help. There`s nothing wrong with your milk !

if the baby is having hard poops then he/she is constipated. if the are liquidy then they are normal. but trust ur instincts!!!

I agree with the others- trust your instincts and/or get a 2nd opinion. We switched drs for a similar reason. Unfortunately, I haven`t heard of much you can do to help the problem. Maybe Caro syrup but I don`t know how old babies need to be. Don`t do fruits of any kind- it will tear up her stomach, she isn`t ready for it. You can take some laxative- like Colace and it will go into your breastmilk- but I wouldn`t screw around with that without a dr. supervision. On accident- I took Colace after my son was born- terrified of tearing my stiches with constipation. I didn`t realize it would go into the milk and cause him to go too frequently. So I quit immediately and then he couldn`t go. That was worse!

That sounds very similar to a few of my cousins. It turned out that my aunts milk did not `agree` with them, she tried different meds, and other supplimenting to no avail. Finally she stopped breastfeeding, and all was well. Its not your typical senario, but it happens. Good luck and hope your little ones feeling better soon:-)

Always trust your instinct, it saved my sons life. Get a second opinion from a different Dr.

my daughter was on lots of medication as an infant, (she had a heart defect)...and she always had this problem. They told me she couldnt be constipated because she was brestfeed. That was untill she tore her rectum pooping :( ..she ended up haveing to go on laxitives. ..but it was the medicine that made her that way so mabey the reflux meds???Trust your instinct!

  5. Some weird things have been happening today, and I`m afraid I`m just working myself up. First, I went potty this morning, and after I was done peeing, I had another small amount of liquid come out. Not sure if it was pee. Then, my c-sect incision from my last baby started hurting really bad. (I had the c-sect 10 mo`s ago, and I`m a little over 32 weeks now) However, the incision feels fine now. Should I go get checked out?
