cerealcrunch`s poll Show results | Hide results

Pregnancy-poll poll Ok, so I have a question. At my last appt it was the very first time she tried to check my cervix. Well, to me it seemed as if she didn`t have to be so rough. (tmi alert) It was as if she just thrusted her hand up there with no warning and was really rough in there. But again, I don`t have much to compare it to. I knew it wasn`t going to be comforable but does it always hurt THAT much? I was literally begging her to pull out. It`s a bit discouraging. If I can`t handle my cervix being checked, how am I going to handle child birth?

It always hurts like h-e-double hockey sticks
It shouldn't have hurt that much

well this makes me feel better, at least im not the only one! i had another appt today and asked about it and she said maybe the other lady was trying to strip my membranes. but wouldn`t i have been told if she was trying to do that?? i thought that getting checked would be similar to a pap smear, i dont like those lol but at least i can handle them. but it was far worse. im starting to think it was just the person i saw. my cervix wasnt checked today because i was scared to let her lol but she said it`s ok, it`s not necessary to check them at my appointments

It hurt for me much worse than having a pap done. It was in the hospital and it was lousy!

I don`t know... Last pregnancy I experienced it and sometimes it is very painful and uncomfortable, needless to say (I haven`t made it to the point of being checked yet this go round). BUT- don`t be worried about childbirth. You`ll be okay, I promise. Just remember- it don`t last forever. :)

Awww...I haven`t been checked yet but it sounds horrible! Thanks for the heads up...I`ll be better prepared now!

dont worry. ive had my cervix checked and hated it, heck, i have a normal pap smear and want to crawl out of my skin. its normal to not want crap going on down there, im sure its not fun for anyone. ive thought the same way as you about if i cant handle this then how will i handle birth and all i could think of is that the contractions will probably take my mind off of anything else thats going on down there. good luck to all of us!!!!!

i was surprised the other day too when mine was checked. i thought it was a very uncomfortable experience, and i thought the same thing about not being able to handle labor! I`m glad I am not the only one. We are going to do great though!! :)

momto4and1tobe (308.8 days ago)
Everyone is different on how much it hurts. Don`t judge you being able to handle labor on this though, because it REALLY hurts me to get checked, for me, it is worse than labor! I hate it so!

Nan639 (308.8 days ago)
You`ll be fine! :)

mommymeg (308.8 days ago)
ya, as far as i remember it should only hurt about as much as having a pap done.....maybe a lil more..

kekea (309 days ago)
Its very uncomfortable. I think people just handle the feeling different. It hurts me also

kater (309.1 days ago)
i don`t think it should hurt THAT much, i mean it sure doesn`t feel nice.... but i`m sure you`ll handle the birth just fine
