Garlic, put garlic in your dogs food. This works for cats too.

Frontline is the way to go because we had the same problem with our cat. We had horrible fleas and our son would wake up with bites. I asked the vet about safe ways to treat and he said just get the Frontline because the fleas will flock to the cat and quickly die. And he was right. No flea baths, no chemicals on the carpet- nothing but Frontline. Ask your vet. Also since you have a dog that goes out all the time- you want to maintain it every month to prevent the problem.

Use a flea bomb on the house after you get the dog treated...stay out of the house for double the recommended time.

Oh, and we also even set off some of those fog bug killers in all of our rooms. We turned them on when we were about to leave for a few hours. When we got back, the smell was very faint and didn`t bother me. Good luck!

We had a break out of fleas about a year ago and did everything possible to get rid of them. Definitely get some frontline or another brand similar to it that you put on back of the dog`s neck. This prevents them from reproducing. Also, give your dog a bath DAILY with flea shampoo. I even bought some carpet powder and used it on my carpets. Vacuuming pretty much every day helps too. The flea spray seemed to really bother my dog so I didn`t use it again after seeing her reaction.

For immediate relief give him a flea bath ~ can do it a couple times ~ our dog had them this fall so I can relate. Then also get the frontline to add for added prevention. Then we also got the powder you put in sleeping areas, mattresses etc. Put it on, brush it in then vac later. It is important to get the eggs in the carpets, bedding etc, not just on the dog ~
