teenMOMMIE (184.5 days ago)its not really `maternity leave`, im quitting, but its a matter of when. i work in a paint your own ceramics store, and its a lot of sorta heavy lifting, but tons of bending over, walking back and forth, and standing. i dont want to push it too much close. my doctor thinks im going to go at 37 weeks, so im not sure whats going to happen
Christy (184.6 days ago)Depends alot on your type of work. I`m not returning to work after the baby. I work in a family owned buisness of my in-laws so I`ll be quitting work once they find someone to replace me and I teach them how it`s done.... I`m worried though because it don`t seem like they aren`t finding anyone else!!! It`s a sit down job so I told them I would work right up to a few weeks before delivery if need be.
AndiKat (184.6 days ago)Wait as long as possible! The more time with baby, the better!! It will be worth it.
mia (184.6 days ago)i worked up until a week and a half before my due date...I would have kept going too but my job requires me to be on my feet for 6 hours and I would have a lot of contractions from walking around a lot...I didn`t want to go into labor at work...if you take off too early, you will be very bored!!
Nan639 (184.6 days ago)I plan on working right up until the end. That`s what I did the first time around.
RobinG (184.7 days ago)Depends on what you do ~ where I live unless your job presents a risk most work til 38/39 weeks unless there is a complication and doc takes you out sooner.
Mommy-2-B (184.7 days ago)Most places in the US will allow an employee to take up to 12 weeks under the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act). This is the maximum amount of time in which your job will pay for your portion of your medical benefits...you still pay for your share while you are out. If you have signed up for STD (short term disability), they will begin paying you at 60% of your income starting 15 days after the birth of your baby. They will pay 6 weeks for natural delivery and 8 weeks for a c-section. Hopefully you will have some vacation or personal time to help you with the rest. I have a sit-down job, and plan to work right up until I go into labor...that way I can take the entire 12 weeks with her once she is born. I would rather do that than waste it while I am fat and uncomfortable, and get less time to actually spend with the baby :-)
annette (184.7 days ago)well it all depends on work hours and if you are standing or sitting, running or walking. i stand all day if im licky i walk for some of it. im leaving 36 weeks. so i have 4 weeks to go woo hoo.its all up to you. if you think you can handle your job up till 2 weeks b4 birth go for it if you can handle it longer, i might think your a little crazy but good on ya. but i think that 4 weeks b4 due date is quite normal, i mean i got told i should have gone on leave a lot sooner. it also depends on if your family has a history of labor coming early. i have known of someone to work till 2 days b4 she popped it out. i know that im just dribbling on but i hope this helps.
butterblocksmom (185 days ago)Why not wait right up until week 39/40? The longer you take off before baby, the less time you have with baby. And I agree with rest and relaxing before baby however, I think life is going to be a LOT more challengin once baby is here.
