Pregnancy-poll poll What do you think is the chance that I will tear again or have an episiotomy with my 2nd birth, after having torn badly with my first? (Comment if you have had experiences with this.)
(Pregnancy poll by tiredmommy, 183 days ago)
Yes...There's a strong chance of tearing/episiotomy needing stiches again
No...There's no likely chance.
Maybe...Who knows what will happen the 2nd time around.

Make sure you ask the nurse to massage your perineum,(most will but some don`t bother). And when the babies head is crowning most people urge is to just push really hard to get it out, if you try panting instead the head will slide out slower and you`ll have less chance of ripping. I also heard having a water birth and being in an upright position while birthing is the best thing to avoid tears.

My sister just had her 2nd and she didn`t tear this time. She tore a few places with her first. Best of luck:)

I should have said expecting another, not planning.

I had to have an episiotomy both births and am planning for another. Both of my labors were over 20 hours so it wasn`t like it was so fast there was no time for stretching. If you tore badly the first time maybe you can ask for an episiotomy so there is less trauma `down there`. Best of luck to you.
