Kaylaaa (178.1 days ago)I plan to introduce bottle to baby as well as breast (i`ll express for the bottle, not formula feed) for the sole reason that if anything were to happen to me baby will be accustomed to a bottle and not have to be weaned suddenly from the breast.
mumof4boyz (178.3 days ago)Good Luck and the best possible choice for your baby xxx
La Leche is great...i`m a member in the UK and a Breast Feeding Peer Counseller , so lots of luck and i`m sure you will love it as much as your baby! xxx
jessica20 (179.2 days ago)im thinking of doing the same thing, however they say to exclusivley use the breast for the first 6 weeks then introduce the bottle..
pregnantagain (179.2 days ago)Wonderful! I think this is a great idea. I breast fed my first but also introduced a bottle at about 10 days. She didn`t want it at first, but gave in since I wasn`t available and that`s all dad had. After that she preferred the breast but took the bottle once she got hungry enough. She did both until 13 months, and then went bottle/sippy cup only. Talk to the hospital staff or a LeLeche league about a good transition bottle. I used Avent (but this has been a number of years ago now, so I`m sure things have changed) because they were recommended as a good transition bottle since it had a wide nipple and still required baby to work for the milk.
raspberry (179.2 days ago)its definately ok to do both, however not all babies tolerate both. if you really want to establish a healthy breastfeeding routine you should exclusively breastfeed for the first 4-6 weeks at least to establish a proper milk routine for both yourself and baby and then try maybe a few bottles to see if the baby takes them. the only issue is, he may NOT take a bottle and only want the breast OR they may find bottles easier (most babies can be lazy and want to quickest and easiest way of being fed, which is a bottle; it comes out faster with less effort) and refuse your breast completely once you introduce the bottle. so the decision is up to you, but know your little one may have other plans!
erphn (179.3 days ago)Congrats! Fantastic decision. I would suggest talking to a LaLeche League in your area - they`ll help you get off to the right start.
It really is best to put baby to breast as much as possible - helps to sustain your milk supply.
