jensay (165.1 days ago)I TOOK MINE OUT WITHIN THE 1ST WEEK OR SO.. SHORT TRIPS BUT HE CAME ALONG WITH ME. IT WAS WINTER TOO. JUST TOOK HIM STRAIGHT TO A WARM CAR
kateks (167.1 days ago)I plan on taking mine outside for a little bit after the first couple days, but not to a public place like a mall or grocery store until at least 2 weeks.
BonnieBabe (167.1 days ago)i had my baby out and about at 4 days old, we did a 6 hour shopping trip when she was 6 days old!! i had to get out of the house!!
mlmmdjm (170.3 days ago)I agree with all the previous posters. I know this time of year it seems like everyone has at least a sniffle. I wash my hands all the time and I still managed to have 2 colds in as many weeks noone else in the house caught them thankfully. It depends on weather too as others have said. Listen to your gut, there`s no need to be a shut in just use your best judgement.
us-n-kenzie (170.4 days ago)I want to add that Christy made a good point, too. I would not go dragging a new baby out in an arctic freeze, but it was July in Chicago when I had my daughter so the weather was nice.
us-n-kenzie (170.4 days ago)I had my daughter late Wednesday and Monday we were at Best But with my mom. AND I had her viz CSection. Whatever you feel up to and comfortable with is when you should bring them out. I would not be letting everyone touch the baby, but I did not let people touch her even when she was a year old...I just dont trust that people have washed their hands and are clean enough.
soonmamax4 (170.5 days ago)i would say the safe time is as soon as you feel up to it, i took my girls for walks ouside just a day or two after birth, the weather was nice, but as far as public public, i waited a month after, that was when the baby showers were...thats as public as its gets, my advice for other public places like a restaurant or something, dont rush it, but if youre going to the store, get used to taking baby as soon as possible...
erphn (170.5 days ago)There`s no specific time. It`s up to you! That being said it is cold and flu season - so make sure you wash your little one`s hands and face each time they come in. If you`re breastfeeding - they`re getting the antibodies to protect them :)
Christy (170.5 days ago)I think it depends alot on the time of year it is also. I know if I would have a baby right now I would keep him in for awhile because of all the sickness going around. In the summer is doesn`t seem to be as bad becasue everyone seems to be feeling better. I still would wait around 2 weeks just for your own sake. You need time to relax and heal.
Jo-Mama (170.6 days ago)You can take the baby out right away as long as the temperature is controlled and you don`t surround yourself with big crowds.
raspberry (170.6 days ago)i brought my son out in public for the first time the day after we got home from the hospital. he was born friday morning and we had errands to run monday afternoon. babies change your life, but responsibilities are still present. we needed groceries so we had to go buy them. as long as people arent touching them and like normal, you wash your hands before playing with them after being out they`ll be fine.
