Christy`s poll Show results | Hide results

Pregnancy-poll poll For those of you who had braxton hicks contractions early on in your pregnancy - did it seem to shorten your labors or were they still so long? Just curious.... my thinking would be that if you have a lot early on that it is working towards a shorter labor versus those that don`t really get them until the end?

I started getting BH at about 16wks with all my pregnancies. My first one was 8 hrs, my 2nd was 6 and my 3rd was only 3. i hope this one is nice and short like my 3rd. lol. The thing with my 3rd was I was having contractions all day, but they really didn`t hurt much worse than the BH, so when I went in to the hosp to be induced that night I was already at a 4, and didn`t even know I was in labor already(didn`t need to be induced after all) ....good thing I was going to the hospital, or I maybe wouldn`t have made it on time.

I got BH that took my breath away at Week 26 and I was recently assessed at Week 35 -- 0 cm dilated, 0% effaced, and Baby hasn`t dropped. Seems that that BH didn`t do anything except take my breath away!

I had them for about 3 months before I had my son. My labor was about 17 hours from OMG IT`S GONNA KILL ME contractions to the actual delivery. I didn`t have many with my first pregnancy. I was induced for that one and spent 28 hours in the delivery room from start to finish. I don`t think they do anything to help you along I think it`s just your uterus practicing for the real thing.
