KatSue (213.5 days ago)Hi- I`m actually a personal trainer! It is absolutely ok to exercise during pregnancy! If you weren`t active before pregnancy I would stick to low intensity things like walking or water aerobics. I keep teaching all of my aerobics classes through the whole thing. I did stop cycling because my belly just got too big- and running is uncomfortable. I still life weights, however I don`t squat or lunge with as much weight as I used to. In your first trimester watch how hot you get. Try to exercise by a fan and keep very hydrated. When your baby gets bigger (some even say beginging of 2nd trimester) when you lay flat on your back your uterus cuts off your aorta- the biggest blood vessel in your body, and there fore cuts oxygen to your baby. I get dizzy and light headed right away. As you get really big watch fast movements, high impact, heavy weights, etc becuase relaxin kicks in and your joints can dislocate extrememly easily. Whenever you are doing cardio from the begining of pregnany through the end, always be breathing in a way that you could hold a conversation with some one. Like you could say 7-8 words and then you would have to stop talking and breathe. Hope this helps!
windchime (213.6 days ago)I`ve heard that it`s okay to keep up with whatever you were doing pre-pregnancy as long as it`s comfortable (and obviously limited weight lifting). But I don`t think we should increase our exercise level.
vismum (213.6 days ago)I cycle to and from work four times a week, about 2o mins each way and I run about 30-40 mins twice a week...plus I chase after a toddler!
absoluties (213.6 days ago)I walk during lunch at work, 20-30 minutes. Otherwise I have no energy to exercise in the morning since I wake up around 6 am to get ready for work, and get home 6ish in the evening, hardly enough energy left to finish the day!
