araya-sunshine (154 days ago)I sleep with my babies in the room until they are sleeping through the night. They sleep in the pack n play though... not in my bed. Its easier for me because I don`t have to walk across the house to feed them at night. But I will not allow my child to sleep with me in bed when she got older because she wiggled and snored all night. Plus, it is a hard habit to break and you certainly don`t want a 10 yr old sleeping with you!
kater (159.3 days ago)i have to say my experience with co-sleeping worked really well for us!our daughter was in her own bed until 12 o clock, so my hubby and i got out time together before this, then when she woke, is was so much easier for her to come into our bed. my DH would then go and sleep on the spare bed. i found this to be really good for bonding, i had post-natal depression and found this to be wonderful. my daughter did have a little trouble sleeping through the night, but now she is the most well adjusted secure and happy little 5 year old, i wouldn`t change it for the world. so what if i had interrupted sleep for a while, i have a wonderful relationship with my daughter now. that said, i agree with all the precautionary measures mentioned by the other posts-safety first!
prettymomma (159.5 days ago)Ps: My son is four years old and just NOW finally sleeping in his own bed for the entire night. A HARD habit to break.
prettymomma (159.5 days ago)I read a report published in the paper not two days ago about the dangers of co-sleeping with an infant.Do your homework.
jenny504 (160.2 days ago)I slept with my baby and there was no problem. I found i was never fully asleep anyways and i had a bed in the babys room so my husband was not in the bed with us, Just me and baby.
erphn (160.3 days ago)If you are going to. You need to make it safe - so if you`re like samanthaandbaby not really an option. Make sure that there are no heavy comforters, minimal number of pillows, and bed isn`t against a wall. No one in the bed should be a smoker, or have had any medications/drugs that could make them drowsy, or be excessively tired.
mlmmdjm (160.3 days ago)We did it the first time around. Not really by choice but I got tired during feedings and eventually it was easier to keep her near me. I vowed never to do it again since she was in bed with us until she was almost 3. With my son we had the crib in our room at first and he went into the crib all the time for naps and after night feedings. He did fine with it since it was all he knew. I can attest to the danger of it though since one night in a 1/2 awake state I pushed my daughter right off of our bed. Luckily she wasn`t hurt but I still feel guilty about it and she`s 7. It`s really a personal choice. It`s much easier in the beginning, but a VERY hard habit to break.
kathleen (160.3 days ago)my daughter always starts off sleeping in her cot but then after her 5 o`clock feed she ends up sleeping nexts to the wall and me. this is because she will not settle back in her cot.
elmera (160.4 days ago)IM HAVING MY 6TH BABY AND HAVE CO SLEP WITH THEM ALL TILL THEY GOT TO ABOUT 6 MONTHS...NEITHER MY HUBBY OR ME SMOKE, OR DRINK ETC AND WE ARE NOT HEAVY SLEEPERS SO ITS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM
samanthaandbaby (160.4 days ago)my husband and i are crazy sleepers...pillows fly, covers never stay where they should be. a baby would not do well in that bed. even if we werent so wild, i wouldnt do it bc its just another thing that you`ll have to break when the child is older. its easier to not teach a habbit than it is to break one. but to each his/her own
