windchime`s poll Show results | Hide results

Baby-poll poll Expecting baby #1 this fall. Want him/her to sleep in our bedroom for the first few months, but the only open space is near the window. Do you think it`s okay for baby to sleep near a window? Comment, please.

Exactly what tto said. You can buy things to take care of the cord on the blinds. They have a device that rolls the cord up into itself. The cord of blinds is a choking hazard.

I`d say yes as long as the advice from previous posters is followed. You said only for a few months so there should be no problem. if the baby is able to stand up by his/herself or climb then it`s definitely no. If that`s where you want your baby then go for it.

our child-proofing book says that it is not safe to put a crib adjacent to a window.

Also, make sure there are no cords or anything. Even though your baby will be little, it could grab nearby cords. And definetly watch the cold drafts, direct sunlight, etc. Otherwise, your baby may really enjoy being able to look outside.

i`d say it had be ok if their were no drafts or leaks... maybe get some heavy drapes to stop the heat escaping!! my little sisters cot was under a window for ages and i don`t remember any problems with it!
