Pregnancy-poll poll Is it true that labor pains while being induced are much stronger and hurt worse than if the labor is natural? If I`m trying to not have to have an epidural should I also try my utmost to not be induced? Comments from experienced mothers from both sides welcome!!!

I think everyone is different, but for me I was induced at 41 weeks. They first started with the gel and then the pitocin. I was in a lot of pain, but labor equals pain. My labor was 43 hours! It is true that the epidural slows the labor, at least in my case.

I was induced twice (once with Pitocin, once by breaking my water)and I went into labor on my own once, I found no difference in the pain level at all. I think alot of women think it`s more painful because it suddenly starts contractions that are strong and regular as opposed to natural labor that can take hours of light cramping and totally irregular contractions. I haven`t had an epidural with any but I was told by my dr. that if you are induced to wait as long as you can for one.

I was induced with my 2nd and the pain was unbearable, they gave me something to sleep cause I wasnt dialated enough yet for the epi so I say if you dont want an epi (be open minded incase you do cause I think it was great) try not to have an induction.

I wasn`t exactly induced, but my water broke before my contractions began and they had to speed up my labor with Pitocin. It quickly made the contractions come on strong and hard. I even had abnormal contractions of 3-5 in a row with no breaks in between. It was terrible!!! I did have an epidural, which was heaven sent! I would try not to be induced if you can help it, but it depends on your particular case. I will definitely be having an epidural again this time!

well,i dont know how other woman puts it. but, i was induce at 41 weeks pregnant. i was only in labor for 10 - 11 hours.i went natural.the concraction was not that bad.to me it felt like having some crazy gas pains cramps and period cramps at the same time.your belly would get so hard and tight at every contration.what got me was the pressure.it only took me 20 mins. to push my son out.i geuss it all depands on how high can u handle pain.

I just wanted to add my second labor hurt more since we had gone to the hospital 3 times on false alarms. So when I actually was in labor I waited to be sure. The first time I was there being induced so it was a controlled setting. Second time around I was pacing my kitchen howling...lol.

i have been induced (gel), gone into labour naturally and a combination, lol, wasn`t having pain but was in labour (apparently????,lol) so they broke my waters to get me going!...i didn`t find the pain any different to be honest but she was the quickest!! xx

I was induced with my 1st and went into labor my 2nd time. My 2nd labor was much more painful. I had no complications either time, and I have heard the nightmares of induced labor, I take them with a grain of salt. Labor hurts no matter what I don`t think pitocin has anything to do with giving more pain. Good luck to you.
