Castor oil can work, however, just like all the other natural inducing labor ideas it only works if your body is ready for labor. I tried castor oil and it didn`t do anything for me, but it did work for my best friend.

I have heard lots of ways to try to induce labor including castor oil and sex, however, just be patient. Your doctor will schedule a date to induce labor if you go past your due date too far. There`s no harm in your child staying in the womb a little longer.

Hi I went 10 days over last time and I tried everything, castor oil and sex both cause you to have quite strong contractions but nothing else happens, its so frustrating, twice we went to hospital and got sent home cause nothing was happening. I also got a major ticking off from my Midwife as apparently castor oil is dangerous.

It didn`t work for me (i actually didn`t have a bm with it), but it has worked for other people. I heard (and I`m no doctor, so I could be wrong) that if it gets to the baby it can cause them to let out meconium...which can really hurt baby. But also, a friend of mine did it, and she went into labor...but she also didn`t get it out of her system before delivering and she pooed all over her doctor while pushing...overall my opinion`s no. But really it depends on how desperate you are! :) Best of luck!

from my understanding, it doesnt cause the uterus to contract. Its more like intestional cramping. I have read that women confuse that pain with contractions. most of the stories i have heard from women who have done it were stories of extreme diarrhea and cramping.
not for me! good luck if you do it though, but i would advise against it!

I have never done it myself, but my sister did and she went into labor and gave birth to her boy the next night! So I guess it worked for her! I don`t think its my cup of tea though myself, I ain`t into cod liver oil! But good luck to you on whatever you decide!

I never tried it, but my best friend did with both of her pregnancies and had major cramps and went to the hospital thinking it worked and it just gave her terrible poop cramps.. i would advise against it!
